What are you playing right now?

Finished up Stranger's Wrath.

It's kind of a shame that Lorne Lanning considered this game a "misstep" in a recent interview, (although considering he was working with EA when making this game, I can probably understand why he might feel that way) because this game is fantastic.

Stranger as a character is very interesting in that so much is said about his character without actually being said. Being part of an endangered species that was being hunted, he felt pressured into pretending he wasn't a four legged creature and taught himself to walk like someone with two legs. He was so desperate to get away from being hunted that he considered hunting and killing one of his own kind just so he can get a surgery to merge his legs.

It's an interesting inverse of Abe's character arc. Whereas Abe was ignorant of his race's tribal and spiritual nature prior to leaving Rupture Farms, Stranger knew exactly what he was and what he was supposed to do, but he ran away from it, until those who were hunting him caught up with him. Only then was he saved by those he was supposed to protect, and only then did he slowly began to accept his place in the world and his role as the protector of the Grubbs. Symbolized by how he gets more and more extravagant armor as you go through the last 30% of the game.

It really is a testament to how fantastic the Oddworld series is. Here's hoping Soulstorm turns out to be good.

...whenever that gets released. : /

Finished first playthrough of Heavy Rain yesterday. It's a bit dated now but a solid interactive drama nonetheless. Got the good ending - now to cause some intense heartbreak with my next playthroughs.

Kirby 64. Just playing some short stuff while waiting for my copy of Trails of Cold Steel 4 to arrive in the mail.

Fuck, this game is slow. All the powers seem to severely hinder your movement when in use, and movement already feels sluggish. The power combo thing is a pretty cool idea on paper, though.

Visage or let's run around looking for keys the game. They downgraded the graphics when they made it a non demo. This game is a huge disappointment. Second worse game of the year.

Man, so many good memories with that game. Some of the crystal shards can be a bitch to get though admittedly.

I can't stop playing Rimworld. I thought for sure that my last colony would die because one of them went insane and beat everyone half to death and five other colonists croaked from a combination of disease, raiders and frostbite, but now I have two new colonists with great stats and somehow they've managed to get hydroponics up and running and are advancing again. I don't think I've ever played a game with so many twists and turns.

I am addicted to No Man’s Sky right now. I find the story interesting, the gameplay loop is my kinda fun, (I enjoyed Death Stranding, idk, I like grind) and the space battles are pretty neat.

also I like getting to play and discover worlds with my best friend, we’ve seen some pretty interesting planets.

Playing Ghostrunner and it fuckin' slaps. I wish there were more games like it 'cause I feel I'm already near the end.

I’ve been playing Stormworks a lot, lately. It’s a block builder, like Space Engineers, but with a nautical focus. The install size is tiny, but the performance demands are somewhat significant due to the relatively detailed water simulation. In order to get anything to work in this game at all, it is essential to know the basics of logic circuits. There is no hand-holding at all. Every vehicle you make, you have to experiment and tune the thing by hand. If you even want to do something as basic as starting an engine, you need a circuit that runs the starter motor for a certain length of time and idles it at a certain RPM so it doesn’t stall. There are gearboxes with adjustable gear ratios and clutches to connect and disconnect driveshafts, too; the ratio between your engine RPM and the output RPM of a wheel or propeller is crucial.

You can build boats and ships of any type (monohulls, catamarans, trimarans, wave-piercing tumblehome craft, SWATH boats, hydrofoils, whatever the heck you want), submarines, wheeled vehicles, tracked vehicles, amphibians, bush planes, cargo planes, business jets, helicopters, flying boats, locomotives, anything and everything. The main goal of the game is to engage in search and rescue missions and save the really dumb NPCs from burning to death. To do this, you’re given a fire extinguisher, a defibrillator, and some first aid kits, but you can also equip your vehicles with water cannons to fight fires and some rescue tools of their own.

You can upload your creations to the Steam Workshop, and download other people’s stuff, too.

Jimmy and the pulsating mass. It's a really trippy rpg maker game that is really addicting, i've been playing it for a few days and wish i had more time.

The gameplay is fairly standard but it has surprisingly high challenge that forces you to know everything. You gotta manage your taunts, heals, items, counters, barriers, stuns, cc, aoe, etc. There are a lot of unique bosses that require different strategies to deal with.

One boss for example is a giant bird that carries you on it's back and spawns 3 mooks that you must kill before it crashes down and kill your whole team, then it flies and stays invincible until it tries crashing on you (most likely also killing your whole team) so you have to stun it to cancel that attack and pick you back to restart the cycle. That boss is also avaiable super early because this game has a ridiculous amount of optional ultra hard side dungeons that you should probably visit later.

It's still an rpg maker game but you can skip random battles once your strong enough and enable easy mode if you're stuck or need to grind so it gets reaaaally close to frustrating but never crosses the line. Good classic rpg with a lot of content.

RuneScape Old School. I’ve been playing Runescape since it came out when I was a wee boy. I’m in too deep to quit now.

I just recently maxed my RS3 ironman account so OSRS is what I'm playing now. I'm interested in the split timeline where Guthix is still alive and sleeping under the Legends' Guild. The game is also striking me in the nostalgia while still having fresh content I haven't gotten a chance to enjoy yet.

Just got done with Metro 2033 Redux. Really enjoyed it, like the setting and atmosphere a lot. Gameplay is a bit sketchy at times, the stealth especially felt like it could use more work but overall a really fun experience. Got nice STALKER vibes except in a linear shooter rather than an open world survival game.
