What are you playing right now?

Replaying some indie games I grew up with.

Specifically, Stick RPG, The Last Stand Trilogy, and the Don't Escape Trilogy. I'm gonna get Super Motherload on steam for sure next though.

Trying out the new updated Tie Fighter vs X-Wing and its glorious. Same game fron the 90s just with modern graphics and effects. Glorious

Just finished Soma by the guys who made Amnesia the dark decent. Very good much existential dread and deep ideas but the horror is all jump scares. Still very good. Would recommend

Trying FF9 for the first time and have been enjoying it quite a bit. Also been picking up various PS3 games since I'm looking into the system more, got Demon's Souls and waiting for my copy of Puppeteer to come in the mail. Also looking into imports for the PS2/PS1 since I softmodded it to be region free, looking to get the JP version of MvC2, Sega Ages Golden Axe, and Einhander for PS1.

A while back I posted here about playing Dark Souls 2, and someone recommended getting the first game. I finally picked it up a couple weeks ago and have been playing it off and on since then. Right now I'm up to the Artorius fight in the DLC and it's a hell of a thing, Pretty fun, but mildly frustrating because goddamn, he hits like a truck.

Finished Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous so now I'm moving onto Tales of Arise.

Played the dlc for manhunter and NMH ghost pepper mode. Now I wait for smt....

A Hat in Time. It's good.
i though A Hat in Time was an amazing throwback to cute, fun ps2 platforming.

I've been super bummed lately about the lack of fun in 99% of modern games i try to play. The last series i played that i genuinely enjoyed was Valkyria Chronicles 1 & 4. a strategy game from sega. original mechanics, great art style, challenging scenarios that actually make you hella excited the moment you figure out what it is you need to do. really loved it. also really enjoying the new nier games, automata and replicant.

growing up with games like cs 1.6/cs:s & all of it's mods, halo 1,2,3, c&c red alert, morrowind & oblivion, heroes of might & magic, quake, half-life 1 & 2, stalker, etc. so many great titles for ps2, xbox, gamecube. the late 90's to about maybe 2010-2012. i sit here & wonder what happened. I want to enjoy video games again.

I remember spending so much time with the first VC back in my junior year in high school. That game, despite some balancing issues and horrendous loading times, was pure magic.

Just wait till you get to the boss after him.

By "balancing issues", you mean that after a certain point in the game the best strategy is just "Throw Alicia at the enemy; she'll be fine".

Yeah. The fact the Order system was busted and the vast majority of missions being “Capture the Enemy Base” really undermined an otherwise fantastic system. And who thought it was a good idea to give anti-tank weapons to Scouts? Doesn’t help the game’s ranking system rewards and encourages that kind of play. It’s so much more satisfying not using Orders. Really forces you to utilize every different class.

Story, characters, music and art style were all great though.

Really, the game was kinda like the FF Tactics of the PS3 generation. Game that was lauded for its story, but can be broken in two rather quickly. Music from both was done by the same guy I think.

Kinda playing Sonic Mania here and there, as Knuckles this time.

Looking to get PS emulators and play the best titles from PS1 onwards.

Any recommends?
Avoiding the obvious/most common suggestions (Square, Capcom, etc) and balancing the genres (PS1):

MDK
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
Soul of the Samurai
Saiyuki: Journey West
Tenchu: Stealth Assassins

MDK I played on PC, so I can't be sure the PS1 version is good. Hopefully you enjoy them.

THPS 1 & 2 (port of 3 is also good, 4 is an oddity)
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Parasite Eve
Bushido Blade
Brave Fencer Musashi
Devil Dice
MGS
Ridge Racer Type 4
Final Fantasy 7, 9, & Tactics
Threads of Fate
Ghost in the Shell
Rizing Zan
Einhander
Tekken 3
Crash Bandicoot & Spyro games
Ape Escape
Resident Evil 1-3
Intelligent Cube

Only ones that came to mind off hand

I’ve been playing Control. Got the ultimate edition on sale for $3 after some currency manipulation. I’m enjoying it so far. I find it strangely surreal. Combat is challenging but fun.
