King's Field: The Ancient City Day 2:
I was able to get through the mines and acquire the rock of life. At that point, I either had to bring it to an ailing mother or some shady guy with a knife. Not really sure if the choice will affect anything down the road, but I decided to be nice and give it to the the mom.
Was able to obtain a fire spell that will allow me to push on down to the bottom of the building and fought a bunch of spiders, including one very big one who's pretty easy so long as I didn't get hit by his webs.
As I explored the place, I met a couple of what I presume to be soldiers that were sent with that one large group shown in the intro cutscene. Apparently, they became... zombified? I kill one and what looks like a rat scurried out from him.
At that point, I could go into two places: A catacomb filled with skeletons, or what I believe is the entrance to the so called "Ancient City". The former I explored for a while until I got to a room with at least a dozen skeletons who came alive at once wanting to kill me. So I assumed I need something else to take them all on and left. So I went to the latter.
The place had more corpses of soldiers and had arrows shooting from the walls ahead of where I entered. It also had more zombified soldiers who were quite more threatening than the other enemies I fought up to this point. Strafing around them proved a bit ineffective as they both turned relatively quickly and can attack even when attacking them from the side. And they hit pretty damn hard too.
I was able to overcome one of them after dying to him a few times. And then I stumbled upon the "Guardian Room". Pretty impressed at the size of these inactive golems, one of which looked destroyed, the other one being in good condition. I then checked around and saw what look liked gravestones. One had a little item on it around the head. I assumed it had something to do with the golem. So I removed it.
Wasn't a smart move. The golem got up, blocked my only means of escape, and proceeded to knock me the fuck out once I walked close enough to it.
Thinking about it now, I don't think I've really made that much progress at all. XD
