King's Field: The Ancient City Day 2:

I was able to get through the mines and acquire the rock of life. At that point, I either had to bring it to an ailing mother or some shady guy with a knife. Not really sure if the choice will affect anything down the road, but I decided to be nice and give it to the the mom.

Was able to obtain a fire spell that will allow me to push on down to the bottom of the building and fought a bunch of spiders, including one very big one who's pretty easy so long as I didn't get hit by his webs.

As I explored the place, I met a couple of what I presume to be soldiers that were sent with that one large group shown in the intro cutscene. Apparently, they became... zombified? I kill one and what looks like a rat scurried out from him.

At that point, I could go into two places: A catacomb filled with skeletons, or what I believe is the entrance to the so called "Ancient City". The former I explored for a while until I got to a room with at least a dozen skeletons who came alive at once wanting to kill me. So I assumed I need something else to take them all on and left. So I went to the latter.

The place had more corpses of soldiers and had arrows shooting from the walls ahead of where I entered. It also had more zombified soldiers who were quite more threatening than the other enemies I fought up to this point. Strafing around them proved a bit ineffective as they both turned relatively quickly and can attack even when attacking them from the side. And they hit pretty damn hard too.

I was able to overcome one of them after dying to him a few times. And then I stumbled upon the "Guardian Room". Pretty impressed at the size of these inactive golems, one of which looked destroyed, the other one being in good condition. I then checked around and saw what look liked gravestones. One had a little item on it around the head. I assumed it had something to do with the golem. So I removed it.

Wasn't a smart move. The golem got up, blocked my only means of escape, and proceeded to knock me the fuck out once I walked close enough to it.

Thinking about it now, I don't think I've really made that much progress at all. XD

Just gonna say, those weren't rats but rather some kind of beetle like creature that runs out of the zombified soldiers. Also, the ride is only beginning. If you have a vial, I hear its important to get some poisoned water (in the area with the old elf man in the catacombs). I say that because there is an NPC later on in the game who wants poisoned water.

King's Field: The Ancient City Day 3:

After a while, I got used to how the zombified soldiers attacked. If I stand still, they whiff their swings and I can attack. They became a lot more manageable for me at that point.

So I continued exploring the area that is called the "Guardian Gate" and I stumbled upon a switch. Out of instinct, I pulled it without thinking what it was going to do, and once I did, I saw something orange with a long tail scurry out from a room beyond. Thankfully, it didn't attack me right there. I eventually disabled the contraptions firing the volley of arrows preventing me from moving forward.

I then stumbled upon a large room with two guardians blocking the way. When I deactivate one of them, another blocks the way. I realized that I needed that other binding brace from the previous area to deactivate both of them. Took me a while, but I finally figured out that I simply needed to outrun the respective guardian in that area as soon as I grabbed the brace.

After getting past those guardians, I stumbled upon a large area with raised drawbridges, with what look liked fire breathing peacocks. I dodged their flames, explored the various rooms fought off the vast hordes of zombie soldiers and mushrooms. "I seem to be getting the hang of this game finally". I thought.

And then suddenly, I entered a new room, I got paralyzed by something off screen and died. After going back in there, I found myself fighting a very aggressive bipedal snake man. First enemy in the game that can actually run! Took me several tries to take him and his friend in the room beyond, but I managed.

I then acquired a key that allowed me to open up chests that belonged to the expedition that came to this land before me. In one of the early areas, I found a bracelet that resisted poison. So I went back to the mines, went through the room with poisonous gas, killed a slime, and found another rock of life. I can't help but wonder now if I could have gone to this room much earlier and gave both the mother and the shady guy each their own rock. As the latter was still hanging around after I delivered the rock to the former. *shrugs*

After a bit more exploring, I was able to acquire the map from the old guy who got killed by a skeleton in the church. Turned out by that point, I didn't really need it anymore as I explored almost the entirety of the catacombs.

After that, I spent money on a new wind power up, which was very useful against the room filled with hordes of skeletons. I found an item which was described by the old elf looking dude as the thing that activated the healing water back at the palace. So I now get free healing water! Yay!

I then went back to drawbridge area and rescued a guy who gave me a bow. Which was something I was worried I might have missed as I found a lot of arrows along the way. Remembering the broken down guardian with the arrows in its eyes, I used the bow to take down the two guardians in the room prior and acquire a new magic spell and the key to lower one of the drawbridges. I also spent some time trying to kill the fire breathing birds. Which wasn't easy as handling the bow was pretty awkward in this game. I eventually took two out only to find a third one flying around and I thought "Fuck it, these guys aren't worth the trouble".

Later on, I found myself fighting against a ton of lizard guys who like to use magic. Individually, they were pretty easy, but I eventually got swarmed by them in a tiny room and died. And thus I decided I played far enough for now.

I have to say, so far, I can't help but wonder why critics seemed kinda indifferent to this game. This game has a lot of elements I really like about it. There's tons of exploration. Fighting, while not exactly deep, is slow, methodical, and challenging. The areas are all connected without any loading screens in between, and it's atmospheric as fuck. Really, the only issue I have is that it's kinda weird how some enemies can use their shields, but I can't seem to use them. (As far as I know anyway, I've checked the controls) But that's a relatively minor issue.

Just finished this little gem the other day. Really scratched that Metroidvania itch I've been feeling recently. Not too difficult and the pacing was a bit slow, but it was more than compensated by the art, great music, and general atmosphere.

I got dragged into playing Black Desert, it's actually not too bad. Right now I'm grinding production and should be appearing on the leaderboards pretty soon at this rate. The secret is to spend 16 hours a day cooking sea water.

Yes, playing OOTP17 and using a fictional 1871-Modern MLB alternate jersey/logo/team name mod (I just don't like mixing fictional players with real team names), I am managing the Dodgers, who also have some similar iconography in later years to the Red Sox.... Also dont mind the typo'd name of the park, I mistyped it when setting the team up.

And also having a really shit opening game. I swear to god I am going to crucify Mike Merz.

For those curious, this is the first year I'm playing, as I did the first 20ish years as hands off to build stats and stuff up and to let the NL stabilize.

After binging on Fallout 4, I decided to return to the old roots of Fallout 2. Slightly altered the build I usually go with while using the latest restoration mod.

I recently borrowed my nephew's modded xbox and had the urge to play some classics from the nes era.

King's Field: The Ancient City Day 4:

After getting through the lizard people, I found myself in a forest. A very beautiful forest at that with just as beautiful music. If FromSoft is good at anything, it's establishing atmosphere.

So I ended up going into a cave filled with these weird hedgehog looking thingies and got some dew in order to feed a rock guardian and get him to open the door to the King's Palace. Here, I'm told to go in and get the Five Wands and the "Passage of Light".

This area right here is where I feel the game's difficulty kinda spikes a bit. I have slow moving, yet hard hitting moving suits of armor that shoot ice at me, and there are these creepy goblin looking guys that have barely any health, but were fast and hard to avoid. Strangely enough, I didn't get killed by the latter, but holy hell did they drain my healing supplies.

After a while, I meet up with the shady guy again, and this time he's selling me stuff. Perhaps he's not so bad after all... Didn't really seem to care about the Rock of Life I had though. Oh well.

So I went into the mausoleum, dashing my way past an army of archers, and decided to do some graverobbing. As I searched the coffins, I heard some rather loud footsteps, I turned around and found a huge group of angry looking skeletons with two handed swords.

Somehow, I managed to survive their onslaught and used the key to go get the wands so I can finally fast travel! Too bad they were in a room with a ceiling slowly coming down on me. And they're guarded by fire breathing statues. And that they're were only three of them. Mission accomplished I guess? Wonder where the other two are.

And then I decided to go after the Passage of Light. (I think I might be getting the name wrong)

At this point, it seems I've run up against a wall. I got a boss fight against this large dude with swords in a tiny ass room with pedestals that have balls of electricity that drain your health when you get close to them. The way the room is made, I can't really move around anywhere without getting hit by the electricity. And to top it off, the boss has cast a spell in order to slowly drain my magic and health, so magic isn't going to help. I think I died to this guy at least twenty times by now.

Hopefully I'll figure out how to beat him next time I play.

Fallout 4. I'm so stupidly in love with Hancock I keep thinking about how well constructed as a character he is - not the best, I still think Piper, Valentine and Maccready outstrip him.

But he is a great bait and switch. He's going to be a drug fuelled junkie who power trips right? Finding a character that embodies a genuine caring for those around them adds a great deal of depth to him. The story of why he became a ghoul definitely makes it worth it.

I'm so fucking hyped for Dark Souls III too.

Playing the new Ratchet and Clank, which is based on the movie coming out later this month.. Looks great, even though it runs at about 30 frames, it doesn't drop frames at all, even with everything going on screen. Some cut scenes are prerendered and taken directly from the movie, but are narrated over, or are cut short.

Is it a remake? Not really.. While it does seem like it, it's more of a re-imagining of it. Worth getting if you have nothing to play on your PS4.. Plus hey.. It's only $40.

Enter the Gungeon. Good stuff if you like Nuclear Throne and bullet dodge games like that.

Stronghold. I'm currently making the final push on the Snake's territory, having at last come to his primary castle and laying siege to it.

King's Field: The Ancient City Day.... 10? I don't know, I haven't updated in a while and time just seems to blend together in this game.

Since last time, I found that I wasn't supposed to take on Mr. Four Arms yet and had to go around the Ancient City collecting these keys which open chests containing eyes of darkness. So now I have three of the four eyes, and thought I was going after the fourth one right away. Turns out, we finally found one of Septiego's men, he tells me that Septiego himself gave himself up to the Widdas, (the snake dudes) in order to save his own men. So now, we have a little personal goal in this game, as the manual states that Septiego was my main character's mentor. So, after exploring the a cave area, I went across a bridge submerged in water and entered a little temple that housed a shit ton of treasure. Including three accessory items that I figured were required for me to wear to access the Widda Palace if the map was any indication.

Turned out I was right, I entered, fought my way through hordes of Widdas, Mummies, and to my unpleasent surprise, scorpions. I met up with a guy who I assumed at first was another one of those Magician bosses that inflicted all sorts of status ailments on me. Thankfully, that wasn't the case. He was just the Queen Widda's right hand man. He explained that the Widdas worship "The Dark One", and told me about how the Queen Widda turns her prisoners into more Widdas. Out of respect though, she apparently chose not to turn Septiego into one of her own.

I headed down, fought my way through.... GASP!!!! NORMAL SNAKES!! And then, some giant snakes. Meh. Died to them once or twice, killed them, went down one of the holes left behind, and eventually ran into the Queen herself. Surprisingly, I was able to beat her on the first try. I went into the room behind her and found a save point and chest that contained the Widda key.

I opened one locked door with my new key, and, to my dismay, found Septiego's corpse. I was honestly expecting him to turn into one of those zombified soldiers and fight him in an honorable duel. Instead, he rotted away in a prison cell. I paid my respects, and grabbed his sword, which, I found via the item description, was a sword given to him by his king. It apparently is missing part of its power. So, I'll assume I'll find something to upgrade it so I can face the final boss or something like that. After wrapping up loose ends, I exited the Palace and ended up in this place called "The Egg Fields". The place had more damned Widdas, and... mine carts? I went partway into the place, only to ride a cart off a broken rail and into a bottomless pit.

At that point, I decided to call it a day.

I've been having a a lot of fun with Dead Star. I was a little unsure of this one since it is multiplayer only but the game mechanics are really great.

I'm playing Stardew Valley and while I absolutely adored Harvest Moon, (autistic adoration for More Friends of Mineral Town) I'm getting really frustrated with SV. Maybe because it's winter and I can't grow any crops? That probably doesn't help. I also find the sale prices very odd for gems and minerals from the mine. I sold a diamond and got very little cash for it. If this was MFoMT I would be a millionaire by now, considering I finished the mines quickly.

And fuck fishing.
