I continue on through the Egg Field, lots of Widdas and mine carts about. I eventually came across a Widda egg, wasn't sure what to do with it at first, so I just left it in my inventory, just in case it was a consumable item. Took me a while, but I finally found where I was supposed to go. There was a weirdo behind a hidden wall panel that demanded a widda egg before he can unlock the door. I gave up the egg and he let me go on my merry way.
Inside, I find myself fighting more skeletons. I also face some giant floating skulls that had a purple haze around them. Not too tough to deal with, but I did use up a lot of healing items. As I continue my way though, I finally find myself at the first floor of the Ancient City. With water everywhere, and a room with a save point, warp point, AND a fountain that healed both my health and my magic. Too bad there wasn't a vendor I can buy healing items from. Speaking of which, the shady guy is no longer at his usual spot, so now I have to head back to the Engineer area and buy stuff from the guy who hangs out in the tunnels. Kinda inconvenient, but whatever.
I then made my way though a dimly lit area with a bunch of new enemies. Some lady archers, a gorilla like dark creature, some dudes who clearly masturbate too much, and giant spiders. I got my ass handed to me a few times before I finally made it through.
I then found myself in an area with very beautiful and peaceful music. Ahead of me was a bridge with what looked like magical wind current blowing by it. I was too distracted by how lovely the music was, that I didn't realize those winds actually hurt and knock me off the bridge. Couldn't help but laugh for a good long while after that.
A few deaths later, I decided to use a wind protection spell to make it across. (Don't know if that actually helps, but I made it across, so meh.)On the other side, I found some angry club wielding ogres that were surprisingly easy to take down. I made my way into "The Mansion of Howling Winds", fighting past more giants, until I come across another boss. This dude had a hammer that inflicted dark on me, and he had two giants fighting alongside him, but somehow, I came out on top and finally got the Serrak's Key.
I used my new key to unlock some of the doors, and found something that can purify water. Wasn't sure how I was going to use it at first. I made my way up to the top floor of the mansion and found Serrak's corpse. His spirit tells me about the history of his people and how the water needed to be purified. As I make my way back to the Central Tower, I took a little detour and entered an area covered in poisonous water and slime monsters. I came here earlier, but chose to back away as soon as I saw what I was getting into. Now though, I head into the room across from the entrance and inserted the item that can purify the water into a slot. Part of me felt kinda good to help this dead guy out.
I explored some of the rooms, killed off the biggest red slime in the world in one hit, and made my way down. I entered a very evil looking place and decided that I should head back and restock. Afterwards, I went back to the Forest and unlocked the chest containing the final eye. I talked to the lady sitting by the fountain and told me the sword that I got off of Septiego once belonged to the Forest King, and that I should enchant it with light or something like that. It was at that point that I felt I was ready to take on that damned four armed knight that kept me from moving forward.
So I went through the gauntlet, and took the guy down. Only to find that I had to face two more like him as I went through this gauntlet. No problem. I played ring-a-round-the-rosey with the last two guys and finally made my way into the room behind the King's throne. I went into a lovely little room that enchanted my lawful blade with the power of light. As I left, the spirit of the dead king told me to go down and slay "The Dark One", who has been mentioned a few times up till now.
It was then I realized that the scary looking area I chose to back out of was probably the place where the Dark Folk were sealed so long ago. And that my journey was probably going to soon reach its climax. With my new badass sword and badass divine armor in tow, I forged my way down there. I fought a bunch of skeletons that went down in one shot. I felt awesome, and that nothing can stop me. Then I quickly got my ass handed to me by a winged demon that looked like something from an SMT game. : (
It was at that point I decided to call it a day.
