What are you playing right now?

BTW, I forgot to say.

One thing about Dying Light that puts a really foul taste in my mouth is the main villain, Rais.

He's basically Discount Vaas. I never played Far Cry 3, but everyone knows Vaas like everyone knows Gordon Freeman and Lara Croft. You have this psychopath dipshit warlord that shoots his own men all the time over slight infractions (groans), runs gladiator fights with zombies (groans) and goes on midwit philosophical rambles about how you don't have free will because you take orders from other people and it's probably supposed to be meta because it's a video game (fucking kill me).

I hate the character. Hate him so much. It's tired pretentious bullshit in other games, and here you can tell they were just playing follow the leader without even being able to get this one worn out cliche right.

Witch Spring 3. The first two were charming but repetitive and glitchy, we'll see how this one goes. I already kinda don't like the main character, but I'm gonna give it a fair chance.

Decided to have another go around of Terraria. Only realised today that I can use the Staff of Regrowth to harvest naturally generated herbs for seeds even when they aren't blooming.

I recently moved and don't have internet access right now, so I hooked up the Wii I got off of my ex to play my old copy of TWW as a part of my mad quest to 100% every 3D Zelda game. Pretty cozy, but I dread having to beat the game again after unlocking NG+. That, and the Nintendo gallery will be an absolute chore, I'm still considering skipping that.

I also still have my old strategy guide, and it's an absolute beauty, filled with nice artwork and just overall great design. Totally beats going to strategywiki.com if I ever have to look something up. Truly, we tend to forget how good we had it back then.

Started playing Kingdom of Loathing again after a good decade or so. My old account was still there, which was nice. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying all the spreadsheeting.

Finished Hellblade 2. I liked the first game a fair bit despite its faults. Not sure if I like 2 about the same or less. It's definitely the first time in a long time that graphics and animation have really wowed me in over a decade. The story isn't really as impactful as the first game but I really like how it tackled it's theme without being in your face about it. Really liked how they threaded the needle about if the supernatural shit is all just schizo delusions, explanations for natural events, or just straight up supernatural stuff.

Had a better critique of "the cycle of violence" in the last 30 minutes than TLOU2 did with its 25 hours. Pointing out that thinking you're morally better is just as likely to turn you into a monster as is being consumed by revenge. Was really not expecting a walk and talk segment explaining the evils of Hegelian Dialectic and manufactured consent/false flags.

As a game it's very anemic, very much a movie "game" but just like the first one I'd say it is interesting enough to play through.

Finally got around to playing Hi-Fi Rush. I am very bad at keeping a rhythm but this game is definitely a lot of fun. The setting and style is unique and I wish the studio wasn't shut down.

I'm close to finishing Cyberpunk. Awesome game, one of the best I've played. As someone who read a lot of Cyberpunk books back in the day it has been really satisfying and delivered on just about every level. Amazing aesthetics. Once I've finished, I think I will move on to either Days Gone or Baldur's Gate 3

Also playing Chernobylite. I'm a big fan of the Stalker games and this is another one set in the Zone. Totally different approach to Stalker though. There is way less emphasis on combat, and it's more about scavenging for resources so you can build up a base and a team, while a generic plot unravels. It's pretty basic and repetitive, and it doesn't have the scope or atmosphere of Stalker, but I'm enjoying it for what it is. I don't mind the grind for resources and I like the base building gimmick

Also playing Heavy Rain. Have been meaning to play it for years. Not that into it though, the dialogue is pretty clunky and the whole gesture system is annoying, but I guess I'm about to get into the good stuff with the killer forcing you to do crazy shit

Planet Crafter got it's teeth into me (last mention I can see was @DrearyDoomguy a couple years back but I doubt it's still got him hooked).

Pirated initially then on Day 2 it wouldn't fire up (the finest quality fitgirl crack engineering at work) so I just bought it on Steam.
Not most amazing thing visually, and one of those games that's been built up from a fairly shonky base in Unity. But a solid 'make line go up' progression game that'll keep me glued for maybe a week.
Farming Simulator 22 went free on EGS a few days ago so perhaps Farming Simulator 24 will drop soon so I can autism into that next :optimistic:

Was giving Tiny Tina's Wonderlands a shot because my girlfriend wanted to play it co-op & it's on PS+.

We dropped it after about an hour or two.
Why, dear god why, if studios *MUST* include a troon character, do they have to go as far as to hire actual troons for VA work???
Fuck, it's fantasy right? Let troons delude themselves into thinking they actually sound good by having normal fucking people voice those characters, if only so I don't have to listen to either some eunuch or someone that sounds like a 14 year old pipsqueak.

There's this one character, Paladin """Mike""" who just won't shut the fuck up and is voiced by some pooner and dear God it's fucking unbearable.
Genuinely the CIA should hire this fucking troon for their blacksites and torture their inmates by just letting that abomination speak to them. I guarantee every prisoner will fold & would sell out their own mother within 10 minutes.

Bought SKALD: Against the Black Priory on Friday & having a blast playing it over the weekend. Really solid Ultima-like CRPG in that 8-bit classical style.

Mostly that, CK2 (attempting a Norse culture, Merchant Republic + Yazidism run) and a modded FNV playthrough after an 8 year hiatus from my last playthrough. Doing a Hardcore Caesars Legion run this time as I haven't done one before now.

Doing my 2nd attempt at a Rimworld Anomaly playthough and I am enjoying my little skinwalker ranch community. Currently trying to build a barn to keep gouls in so I know where they always are and not on the other side of the map when I need them.

I also picked up Phantom Brigade on sale and am liking it so far. The timeline system is really fun and makes battles very engaging and I hope more turn based games would take a crack at it. However there are parts that feel undone, like pilots having no stats, perks or veterancy so they are all interchangeable and I have no reason to get invested in them like I did with Xcom troopers, mech customization freels limited with premade color schemes rather than letting players choose their own color combinations. Also while the ability to see the instant replay of your last turn is really cool I am still surprised that 3 big updates in they still haven't added the ability to see the full replay of the battle once it is over even though it is the most requested feature. The story the beyond generic to the point that I don't even know who the enemy is and what are their motivation other than they invaded. Music isn't much better, just stock action filler. And there is next to no world building other than mechs became the standard for combat.

3/5 good gundam/armor core tactics game but really lacks some basic features and really needs to spice itself up with its own identity.

Was feeling in a Borderlands mood, saw that the ultimate edition of Borderlands 3 was on sale on Steam so bought that.

I know the story is shit compared to 2 so I wasn't too shook up about that. What makes me raise an eyebrow is how badly this game seems to run. I don't get any stuttering or anything like that, but the graphics just look smudged and too shiny if that makes sense, plastic like almost. It just looks bad compared to 2 which came out like 8 years before this one. I'm normally not a graphics whore, but gotta admit its kinda putting me off a little.

Been playing a lot of Getter Love!! on the Nintendo 64. It's a Japan-only dating sim that was made by the same team as the original Mario Party entires (Hudson). So there's similar game-mechs as the original MP, but it focuses more on finding love. The object is essentially to find a gf. So I guess it's basically Love Quest: The Game.

An english patch for it just dropped last december and i'm so glad i discovered the game this year of all times just in time for the english translation. It has a "party game" type of approach but It's so much fun even on single player. I'm addicted to unlocking the endings with different girls and the "topic balls" etc.
