What are you playing right now?

DOOM Eternal. Game is kicking my ass. I'm making progress but it's slow.

Genshin Impact. It's fun to explore the world and a pretty good starting point for a free-to-play game but both the monetization and progression systems could use some tweaking for long term sustainability. Also Co-op is shit and that needed to be fixed a month ago.

I've been playing Space Rangers 2. It's a... top down arcade rpg space shooter/real time strategy/text adventure game.... yeah. Lot of fun, but early game combat is "run away and maybe 2 in-game years later you can start blasting."

Painkiller. Honestly it's pretty mindless but the graphics are surprisingly great for 2004 especially and it's generally worth at least one play through. I don't like it as much as serious sam but it's pretty solid.
The Black Tarot was a fun idea, too bad that the active cards are only useful during boss fights and I would forget they existed during non-boss levels.

Just beat Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee again last night.

God what a fantastic game. Always holds a special place in my heart. And it's honestly kinda scary how the general themes and message of the game are so relevant now.

Got night in the woods free with game pass. Had my doubts about it but...damn it's an amazing game. Even though there's not much gameplay beyond running jumping around and the occasional puzzle or minigame it's the story that I'm legit invested in and wanna see what happens...holy shit nitw is everything life is strange TRIED to be but doesn't suck.

And yes like animal crossing, it's hard to convince people I'm not a furry when I say I like night in the woods.

Saints Row 3 Remastered as a final hurrah for the Xbox One before the Series X launches.

Also got Super Mario 3D All Stars to help bide my time, so that's cool.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw.
It's an Epic Store exclusive (gay). Also available on FitGirl repacks (not that I know).
FUCKING FANTASTIC.
It's a spiritual successor to Wing Commander: Privateer. (oh, how I loved that game).
It supports HOTAS, and total open-world. Not too politickly. The blue-hair is at a minimum, too.

However, the protagonist and almost every main character is a strong woman. Why can't I make my own character?
That shit is annoying. Ruining the RPG experience just to push the 'strong woman' stereotypes is preachy horseshit.

8.5/10: a must play.

Pros
Lots of cool ships to fly. A little sparse on the weapons and missiles.
The GUI is a bit unintuitive, BUT it was made for HOTAS, consoles, and Mouse/KB.
Audio is great (I'm having a weird channel issue, but I will blame my setup) Video style is great - not 100% realistic, but not 'cartoon-y' either.
Storylines are great. Many sub-plots, good content.
Main Pro: The motherfucking dogfighting. Just an ABSOLUTE JOY.

Cons:
I think mining was an afterthought. Mining ships get yeeted immediately. Even the strongest miners are dead meat, without dedicating 1/2 your weapon points for combat.
If 1/2 your mining ship is combat, how is it mining?
Customization of the ships is a bit meh. Not much variety in a ship design is possible.
Gets a bit grindy when you need to make some cash.
Stations are based upon 6 templates. The only interaction with NPCs is the bartender.
Market has few commodities to trade.
Only 2 true 'paths' are available: Good Guy or Bad Guy. The storylines don't change regardless of your aliied 'path'.

Just finished checking out the demo for Kingdom Hearts Memory of Melody. Pretty fun, but it's a lot easier if you remember your team all attacks with the same button. No need for the shoulder buttons unless it requires two or three of you.

Heat: Homestead. Available on Steam. Elsewhere too. Also, FitGirl Repacks.

TL;DR 2/10 skip this.

Unfinished MMO, with an equally unfinished SP mode (Homestead). I explored the tech tree ('blueprints') in SP mode, didn't go online.
The game brags 20 diff biomes with sub-biomes within. Yeah, nope. All maps are either based around Tombstone, AZ or around Washington D.C. I played in the mountains of AZ, and STILL didn't see snow, except WAY up.

Pros:
If you have a shit fetish, you might have a great time. Defecating once a day is a requirement, produces a resource, and is beneficial to farming. Also poop is a weapon (WHY?!?).
The tech tree is GOOD. Nicely developed and challenging. The ONLY reason to play the game is to unlock stations and technologies. Use those technologies to utilize resources to make income (selling to the shipping container).
Character design is ok.
Flag generator is AWESOME.

Cons:
If you have a shit fetish, you might have a great time.
and...
Enormous size (~70gb) and processor load for what looks like a 2000s era FPS.
Almost everything else. Seems like it started out as an asset-flip, but the original team gave it a good try. Their eyes were bigger than their skill-set.
Food is a challenge. I needed to buy food until I was level 30. Animals are almost non-existent, and unless you have firearms- DO NOT ENGAGE. The lowly beaver will crush you in melee combat, even if you are armed with a sword.
I shot a donkey 12 times and he still killed me. These creatures are a necessary resource, yet I only saw 5 in over 30 hours of game play.
The GUI is laggy and awkward. Audio is weird- loud or soft.
Farming is borked. Some seeds can be purchased but wont grow.
Hunting is almost non-existent.
Mining is not lucrative.
Crafting for sale is not lucrative, may even be a net negative.
Random geodes and the gemstones they contain are one major cash stream. Hilariously common.
If you aren't in bed by 2AM you lose all your shit.
Frequent crashes to desktop.
Performance is CPU INTENSE. My temps rose 20 'F over a typical game of Space Engineers. 30' over Factorio.
Boring. Unlock the tech tree, and you are done.

DOOM Eternal. Game is kicking my ass. I'm making progress but it's slow.

Finished this up not too long ago. It's been awhile since a game felt as intense as this from beginning to end. While I liked the first one more I like that Eternal felt like it's own game and not just "Doom 2."

Picked up a game called Cross Code. Knew nothing about it just thought it looked fun from the trailer. It's great so far even if the puzzles kick my ass. Also just picked up Sleeping Dogs but haven't had a chance to play yet.

Rimworld. Because of a combination of mods I'm playing as a sort of generic evil ass Empire type faction this go around. It's basically Nazis but worse. So along that line I got also got some nice and very Naziesque Enclave uniforms, as well as German WWII uniforms and the Kerebos Panzer Cop uniforms.
The banners that I'm using to decorate my base are basically a combination of the Nazi version of the War Ensign flag of Germany with the Galactic Empire gear in place of the Swastika.

I'm also planning on making a small corps of basically 40k style Space Marines. I might even throw in a bit of commie shit in there. Call the leader of the faction Comrade Fuhrer. I'm going to have clone armies, horrific medical experiments, slavery, robots, just batshit insane evil empire fun.

Carrion. It's a bit crap, it's skinny jeans Octodad in a way. The creature is neat but like Octodad you're mostly bumbling around and things happen.

edit much later: it's not a bad game, I will continue to play it, it just plays like wacky game with a serious enamel. Still really curious if the story and obvious twist is super lame or not, like in horror movies.

Phasmophobia's in early access and I got it to fuck around with some friends.

I've been thoroughly, THOROUGHLY enjoying it so far when it's working as it should.
