What are your thoughts on (or experiences with) Native Americans?

By far the most dysfunctional group I’ve people I’ve ever had to work with, holy fuck!!

My mother was a Social Worker and admitted to me shortly after retirement that by far, the Native American families would have the most egregious cases of child abuse and domestic violence. I can attest to this truth behind this grim observation with my own experiences and interactions.

There was a cute apartment complex built for Natives next door to me. Well two years later and it’s been completely trashed. Literal garbage outside the building and in the parking lot, heavy police presence there these past six months, shitty cars parked all around, residents cussing and screaming out in the open, dogs barking at all hours, a couple times there’ll be youths doing donuts in the parking lot and blasting god awful rap music…it all reminds me of jogger behavior but without the gun violence (as I know of, at least). It seems like even when Natives are given help and assistance a lot of times it still devolves into chaos.

I think there’s a lot of corruption with these tribal governments so I believe that could be a cause of the issues, plus obvious the terrible history of mistreatment by whites. Tbh I feel sorry for these people but goddamn I would never want to deal with them more than I already do. It’s just been such a shitshow.

What’re your thoughts and experiences? I’m very curious to hear them.

from what i've seen, they seem to be a people (or rather, multiple separate peoples) broken by defeat, and now unable to move on or develop in any meaningful way because their cultures were just way too far behind to ever catch up with the modern world. they would probably be better off today if the US had forcefully assimilated them all a hundred years ago.

like, the japanese are another example of culture shock, where they had been super isolated on their islands for hundreds of years, until one day american ships showed up with cannons and made them realize just how far they had fallen behind the rest of the world.
but with japan the gap was not insurmountable. they were backwards yes, a feudal society, but still civilized and organized, so they were able to very quickly catch up and develop into a great power themselves.
with native americans i think no such thing was ever possible, because their cultures were just way too far behind. tribal nomadic hunter-gatherer societies are just completely non-viable in the modern world.

My oldest buddy is a native, we don't live anywhere near a reservation (especially not his tribe) and he's pretty chill, just your basic gamer weeb. I remember when I met his dad the first time I had to control my laughter because he has the most sarcastically stereotypical 'western movie indian' accent you could possibly imagine but it's just his actual voice. His dad is also into games but not so much the weebery, more sims and historical stuff

When Covid hit and the liquor stores closed, my local grocery store had to lock up all the mouthwash because the Natives were coming in, stealing it, and drinking it to try and get drunk without booze. When they couldn't do that anymore, they'd stand around the entrance and ask random people if they'd buy the mouthwash for them.

Having grown up around and even been friends with a few natives, pretty much everything said in this thread is true. Its not that they don't have the drive to do better, its just completely snuffed out by their dog shit communities who languish in state subsidized poverty or diverted towards "native" initiatives AKA petty crime, gambling, drugs and so on and so forth. If your seeing the parallel's with American blacks, your fucking right. A culture without a genuine past to cling to, but unable to move on into the future due to state initiatives and, ironically, tribal thinking that encourages them to never fully adapt and accept American culture.

One of my native friends I grew up with was a really smart guy, the type that could have gone to college and gotten a degree in engineering. When I asked him what he was going to do after high school he straight up said he was going to just poach hunting/fishing game from the local wilderness and sell it on the down low to wild game butchers because that is what his father does.

I don't entirely blame him as he is more or less allowed to tell the cops to fuck off with no repercussions due to being tribal, but that is the problem right there. Natives refuse to move on to bigger and better things that in the long run would be better for them. Choosing to languish on the fringe of the system in these petty kingdoms making petty change from petty crime fueled by petty rebellion against their conquerors. The system has done nothing but encourage that kind of behavior no less. To keep them dependent, docile, poor and always voting for the "correct" politicians, who the chiefs of course always give loads of "election funds" to in abundance.

The only native I ever truly respected was a guy who completely broke ties with his tribe to go off and make something of himself. He of course did and I can guarantee is now more wealthy, independent and happy than any other native out there on the reservation. Same story with the only niggers I have ever respected.

And lets not talk about their chiefs. That is a hive of corruption, degeneracy, rape (both literal and metaphorical) and outright dictatorship that I don't have the energy to go into.

Tribal chiefs seriously need to have a lot more investigative work done on them because they are nothing more than glorified politicians who can get away with backwards-ass shit, not much different than a normal politician mind you but at least mainland politicians still face scrutiny by the media. Tribal chiefs? Nope, their corruption 99% of the time gets brushed completely under the rug and white people see them like they’re the descendants of Geronimo or Chief Joseph. You’ll see these white-ass “chiefs” dressed in robes and feather headdresses shaking hands with other elites and it just looks fucking ridiculous. It’s basically a rich man LARPing as a noble savage.

I'm friends with someone who married a native and spent lots of time on the "rez". This was in Canada but I assume it's the same in the states.

Natives have a culture of "self-governance" which translates to: actual cops are not allowed to enter the rez, because all crimes are handled internally by the elders (i.e. swept under the rug)... so basically the Rez is a lawless land where anything goes.

Drunk driving accidents happen constantly. Men rape and murder the women/girls. People set each other, and themselves, on fire with astonishing frequency.

These people take drug abuse & brain damage to the next fucking level. I heard stories of people rigging microwaves so that they'd run even with the door open, and people would stick their heads in the microwave for 5-10 seconds to get a zappy "high" (might be an urban legend but honestly with how these people act, I believe it)

Natives are also some of the worst patients in the hospital (I'm a medfag). They have no coping skills, they throw violent temper tantrums, they ramble about their crimes, they wander off the unit to drink & smoke & steal from the gift shop, they sneak their drugs and alcohol into the hospital, and they leave AMA only to end up back in the hospital days to weeks later with complications. Also all of them have been molested and abused as children. They're actually a million times worse than the Indians (who I've complained about in the Indian Menace thread).

I've grown up with and work around a lot of indians.

Rez indi'ns are great to hang out with. Those dudes tend to have a great sense of humor. It's like hanging out with soldiers. Growing up like that gives them thick skin and they take a joke as well as they give (unlike niggers). Their women can even have a pretty good sense of humor (it's not like they're good looking, not past the age of 25 anyway). Different tribes have different personalities: Pueblos tend to be outgoing and cheerful while Navajos are withdrawn and universally disliked. Either way, if I've got to bullshit with some random stranger I'll take a (sober) Rez indi'n over just about anyone.

City indians are normal people as long as they don't get wrapped up in their "identity". Nothing like blacks.

NONE of them can handle alcohol. They age horribly. They are cursed in modern society. Never lend them money that you want to see again.

Fun fact: they all have at least a half-dozen grandmothers whose funerals they will need to attend at some point, and an important tribal feast every few weeks.

Chugs are one of the worst species, hands down. I've lived near damn near every type from east coast to Alaska. They are drunk, violent rapists, that abuse everything including animals. They sell their own kids and blame "the White man tm". Don't believe me? find a reservation, Look at the local jail roster and tell me what you see. We call them savages for a reason, they have zero capability to function or control themselves, they are far from peaceful nature lovers.
