What Have You Cooked Recently?

I just realized how Boomer tier this thread this. It's shit I saw Boomers doing on Facebook in the early and mid 2010's. Posting pictures of what they made/ate for dinner and talking about it in more than just a few works or a sentence.

Holy shit. I got to stay out of this thread. LOL

Give us a detailed post about your grilled peanut butter and jelly, or your dorito fried chicken, we're dying for it.

Definitely on the eat list. It also is quite presentable, unlike any attempt at sushi I've ever made, which looks like a mongoloid in preschool made it.
thanks!! saran wrap saved my ass. also use calrose rice it’s sticky and meant for sushi :)

day 3 of my cooking streak:

i felt lazy and out of ideas so i made my low effort 3am autism meal: budder noodles (with some extra). medium effort is garlic, tonight i added shrimp and lemon. bretty gud but i just went a bit too wild with the lemon juice. there’s a lot of shrimp but they’re just hiding. would you eat it???

that being said i’m new to cooking and out of new ideas!! i welcome any recommendations as long as it doesn’t involve cheese (I HATE CHEESE!!!!!!)

I’m likely to move in the next month or two and need to replace a stand mixer that I’ve more or less comandeered. My local target has lift-head Pro 5 Pluses for approx. $250. Anyone have experience with this model? My gut says I’ll like the bowl design on the lift heads better than the footed Artisan I’ve been using; and should I see if Costco has any good deals for mixers. I’ve also been looking at pro 600s, which seem to have all-metal paddles and hooks instead of coated zinc ones.

i used the same ingredients cause i’m cheap but i think it turned out better, better rice/filling ratio. got a riper avocado but it was kinda too ripe so i gave up with the second half and just mashed it into a filling with some lemon juice :)

I finally tried pizza with a homemade hollandaise sauce and it was ok. I can definitely see it being better with a better sauce recipe. Null has weird tastes
I'm a big fan of BBQ sauce on pizza. I make all my sauces myself, don't trust the shop shit, I make mine smoky and sweet. The secret ingredient is peaches.

Today I made hamburgers with chili-aioli mayo. I was a little skeptical at first, but that combination really works, leaves a nice aftertaste as well.

1 cup mayonnaise
1 1⁄2 tablespoons lemon juice (fresh)
2 -3 garlic cloves, pressed
1 1⁄2 teaspoons chili garlic oil (not sriracha or chili sauce)
1 pinch cayenne pepper (sprinkled on top to garnish)

Basically you mix them up with wire whisk until desired consistency. Making sauce or mayo is incredibly simple. Originally I ate this sauce at a seafood restaurant, sauce for calamari. I ended up liking it and had to make some at home. I have no doubt this will work with other grill food as well.

So we did end up grilling with my husband's friend on Saturday. They got married only a couple of months ago and his wife doesn't work so finances are tight for them, so we got way more food than 5 people needed and ''forgot'' the leftovers and raw ingredients in their fridge. My husband made them burgers, but I wasn't in the mood for those and wanted a reason to give them more food, so we also picked up jalapeno sausages and a bunch of vegetables. Hopefully it'll help them stay afloat with a bit more comfort than like, ramen and occasional pork chops, and hopefully they didn't see through our game and really do think we forgot to get the leftovers because we didn't want to wound his pride or dignity.

Sunday, we picked up two sushi boxes- $15 per box for a salad, miso soup, rice, 5 pieces of vegetable tempura, one roll, and 5 pieces of sashimi. I make our own sushi relatively often, but it was nice to have the variety of sashimi and a day to just relax, and I feel like the price is set very fairly.

Today, we're making homemade pizzas, the dough has been fermenting and I'll probably make two- one with mozzarella and bruschetta for the kids, and one with grated Grand Cru, mixed olive tapenade, and anchovies for us.

It wasnt just boomers, early 2010s and late 00s were like the rise of hipster/'foodie' culture and specifically food blogs and food network shit. Millennials and shit still do it its just on youtube and tiktok food hack or 'stupid food' shit.

Also my dinner was a burger with bacon, smoked mozzarella, sauteed mushrooms and spinach, and a side of broccoli and it sounds kinda weird but its pretty good,

Yeah I know Millennials were doing it as well. But on Facebook it seemed like Boomers were doing it all the time. By Boomers I just mean older people or legit Boomers.

I have an ungodly amount of potatoes because I didn't realize how much I planted this year until I had to store them.

but today is: I literally just cut them up in french fry shape, salted em, fried them. Ate them.

Lesson learned. Use more oil or use a deep fryer next time they were kinda badly textured. flavour was fine though.

If you've got a food processor with a slicing disc, have a go at chips. Easy way to use up a lot of taters. Even more so with an air fryer.
