What have you recently eaten?

I went to Five Guys. Haven't been in years. It is a time capsule to the buzz feed 2010s days. Quotes and weird prints of magazines from fucking 2011 talking about how epic the restaurant is. As if that means anything. What are people saying today about five guys? Now that all the web and magazine journalists have starved to death, nothing good I would assume. Probably stuff like "I could have spent 12 dollars and made greasy smash burgers for four people at home."

The burger was fine. I would even say that it was prepared as nicely as it could have possibly been at Five Guys. Maybe it was the best burger I've ever had from there. But I was also reminded of how many more delicious burgers I've had since I had my first five guys burger. They are nothing to me now. I will never be back.

We've moved into the new year so I'm off the ribs. The other day I fried up two schnitzels, then stacked them in the pan with some cheese between and let it melt. Then I put two fried eggs with runny yolk on top. Ate it with some bean salsa on the side. Pretty decent.

They've got a new item on the menu called the Nashville Hot Fried Mozzarella, and it's fucking amazing. If you've got a Chili's nearby, it's definitely worth trying out.
Jesus Christ. Okay, maybe don't give them a try. Apparently the Nashville Hot Mozz has 1900 calories for a serving of three. The normal mozz is only 920. How the fuck?

Edit: 5630mg of sodium, too. Man. Thank god I don't have blood pressure issues.

I had lamb tonight for the first time in a long time.

It wasn't prepared in a fancy way. It was a shoulder cut that resembled a bone-in porkchop.

I thought I had some mint jelly, but tore cupboards apart and came up empty.

It was pretty tasty. It was like a chewier porkchop with steak coloring.

An experimental dish called 'stuffed' pork chop, where it's baked in a curve like a taco shell and filled it with stuffing. It was a weird concept but pretty tasty at least, since the stuffing absorbed some of that rendered fat.

New job is very physical, so I've just been taking a can of fish with me for a quick snack midday (usually tuna or salmon). Generally very cheap, usually not a lot of fuss (except those fuckers who pack them with oil and label it as 'no mess' as a joke), no prep needed. Easy five minute boost of protein. Another bonus is that since it's winter it's usually hovering around 30f outside so I can even get away with just leaving it in the car to eat in private.

Roasted Shishito peppers, I get a pack of them every month.

Wife ordered them about a year ago on a whim, and what I thought was going to turn out to be a pretentious waste of money ended up becoming unironically one of my favorite foods.
Perfect blend of mild spice and flavor, it's the only pepper I know that can be roasted up in 5 minutes and just eaten straight by itself instead of on a sandwich, in a salad, or as a garnish.

Only downside is I've only ever found them in wholefoods

Fried rice with chili sauce. Chili sauce wasn't hot enough, so I added a drop of da bomb to the bottle.
Is that stuff actually any good or just pain in a jar? I have some superhot sauces like that but they're mainly just for adding a drop because they bring not much more than just heat. I like those for when I just want something more spicy but without changing the taste otherwise.

(For that I usually use just powdered dried scorpion pepper powder.)
A succulent homemade Chinese meal of chow-mein, char siu and kung pao chicken
Sounds like democracy manifest!
