What is objectively the best Final Fantasy?

Since I played it for so long through every storyline and all quests with cutscenes that ranged further than „deliver this to x“ i have to say it’s XI.
objectively though it has to be 6.

Final Fantasy 2. No question about

Reasons
- It enforces a Christian power fantasy morality. You go to fight demons in hell and beat the shit out of satan to save the world. (Sure Magic/Mana Points isnt called Miracle Points) But thats a compromise i guess
- Its the most grindiest of the games, but that just gives you an excuse to do situps, pushups in morning, take a shower, eat breakfast and grind further on til you get hair on your chest. I guess since i have read my share of books i have all the time in the world.
- The atmosphere, unlike FF1 and FF3-FF6, feels like something cool, epic and fun. Like a NeverEnding Story novel come to life or something. Compared to the other old school FF games, which... basically is just "Benny Hill Theme" type of feeling to it. Not nearly as cool or grand or epic.

I guess my 2nd and final favorite FF game would be FF9 however. Since i dont like the others that much.

What is objectively the best Final Fantasy game and why is it Mystic Quest?
So I came to this thread thinking "I wonder if somebody has already tried saying the best is Mystic Quest..."

(I actually do like Mystic Quest but I'm undecided if its the best in the series or not).

VII because it has the best waifus, prove me wrong.
Only Tifa is particularly good, the rest aren't that great. Yuna and Lulu are the best FF girls.

This made me think. I guess my pick of FFX isn't completely objective, now that I think about it. It is the best game in the FF series but maybe not the best as an FF, if that makes sense. It's missing things up to that point traditionally associated with FF games, like a proper overworld.

With that in mind, I guess FF9 might technically be the best FF. I like FF8 a bit more for its characters and music, but the gameplay and pacing is worse. FF7 might be runnerup.

It's a little underrated but way too repetitive. It's got decent humor and one of the best battle themes in the series, though it ain't enough to save it.

It's hard to not go with 6 by far the best writing in the series. I really can't think of another game that has so many memorable moments in it. However I'm also quite a big fan of 4 which I'm surprised hasn't been brought up yet. I've only played the DS remake so I can't speak for the SNES version but I remember loving it. Cecil one of my favorite main characters in any JRPG.

✅ Not a faggy RPG
✅ High speed action racing game
✅ Starring the best FF character
✅ Better than Mario Kart AND CTR
✅ Can be beaten in less than a day

People only remember Lulu because of Tetsuya Nomura's belt fetish and because Evanescence was really popular back then.
I can think of two reasons :tomgirl:

But my pick is the original FF7. Maybe because it was my first Final Fantasy (unless Mystic Quest counts) but even after beating all the others I still like 7 the best.

Final Fantasy VIII cause it pisses people off
Nah I liked 8 and the whole card based buffs.

Though as for my favorites it has to be Six, five, ten, eight and twelve (I really liked the gambit system and would not mind seeing 12's combat system come back though the story and characters were lacking)

Honorable mention for blitzball and how the need to release a stand alone game were you become biltzball champions through the power of friendship.

Seven is forever the most overrated of all the FF games which eventually led to it's remake which is an affront to god.

Yuffie has belts on her shirt somehow.

12's combat was abysmal. What really needs to come back is FFX-2's combat. It's like a snappier ATB version of FFX's with a more traditional class system that you can change on the fly. It's peak.

Don't play the GBA remaster thing.

Final Fantasy lost me when they moved to a action combat format. Like nigguh, I play turn based games for a reason.

Did you try the original version of 12 or Zodiac Age?
I didn't like 12 as a kid, but Zodiac Age fixed a lot of my problems with the game.

Do you mean actual action like FF15 & 16 or also ATB? I like ATB personally and it's been around since FF4.

Weirdly I remember liking the original more and progressing further. I didn't understand FF12 Zodiac Age, I had to basically program every little action for AI allies. Not fun.

I am playing the Pixel Remaster version on Nintendo Switch.
With 0.5 exp points (Boost) for everything, since i try to get the leveling up to be as much of the original game as possible.

That was still a thing in the original version of 12, but the big thing that I liked more was the change of the license board and job system because all the characters kind of just become the same in the original.

I played Final Fantasy IV on the DS a long time ago as a kid and I remembered I actually liked it a lot, probably more than Diamond and Pearl as a DS JRPG so therefore it's the best FF, imo.

I did play FF13-2 a while ago back when I owned a PS3 via GameFly (anyone else remember?) but I didn't really like it much. Probably didn't help since I didn't play FF13-1 so had zero context of the story lol but i remembered it had a Shin Megami Tensei style recruitable monster system which was neat
