What is the coolest weapon out of every FPS game?

It's gotta be the Unmaker from Doom 64

The large pistol in Soldier of Fortune (was it the deagle™?) when used against the normal mooks. Felt really punchy.
I liked the grenades in RAGE. It's been a while but they had some cooking indicator on them so it was fun to throw them over covers and reliably have them pop just above the hiding rascals there.

Darktide may be steaming shite but the boltgun feels fantastic. I don't think it's the coolest but it's incredibly satisfying.

I always dug the nailgun from the original Quake. Of course, it's basically just a machine gun, but the fact that it was rusty nails tearing things apart instead of boring old bullets made it more fun to use.
The nailgun and the Perforator (super nailgun) was iirc was ID Software was thanking Nine Inch Nails for the soundtrack. As the nailgun ammunition is literally "nine inch nails."

Spaz12 + Grip was hilariously broken too. A lot of good memories getting stoned with the lads playing MW2 into the small hours. Running 5-7-9 killstreaks on Domination (?) game mode where rounds would last an age. Total fucking mayhem.

The fact that Shotguns were Secondary weapons in MW2, was also mind-blowing. In fact, pretty much every gun felt like you were OP with it somehow.

Utility: Kar98k. Every time a game gives me this option, I go for it because it's always a satisfying gun to use.
Sound: M1 Garand. The ping is amazing.
The ping makes my heart warm every time.

Personally, the translocator in Unreal Tournament was fun as hell. Stupid as shit, but teleporting into someone's meatspace and turning them into chili was always satisfying.

I ran to Walmart to get Hexen as soon as I could when I learned about the Wraithverge just so I could see it in action. It was every bit as cool as it sounded and completely worth the $9.99 I paid ($799 in 2023 dollars).

My go-to in first-person shooters online has been the AK-47 ever since Black Ops 1, because I could not get enough of hipfiring fools in Jungle (BUT THE AK ISN'T A VERY GOOD HIPFIRE WEAPON, said the person who obsesses over DPS charts and doesn't realize games are supposed to be fun). Sadly, no AK since has really delivered the same way.

Can't have coolest weapon talk with out talking about the absolute banger known as the Cerebral Bore.

This little shit locks onto a enemy homes into it's head burrows into the skull making a fountain of blood from the entry point as it makes it's way to the brain. It will then EXPLODE THE HEAD LEAVING A STUMP FOR MORE BLOOD TO SPURT OUT.
Was going to post this. My favorite part of the Cerebral Bore was the realistic sound it made when it latched on and started drilling through the skull.

I got really damn good with the remote mines in Goldeneye & Perfect Dark. Also the Laptop Gun in Perfect Dark was great, it's an SMG that you can just throw and it becomes a sentry gun that can attach to walls.

As for the coolest idea for a gun, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter had that Fusion Cannon. I like the idea of firing a tiny sun out of a handheld launcher.

Telesto's pretty fun in Destiny 2, both because those delayed-explosion shots let you pull some fun trick kills, and because it somehow kept breaking unrelated things in D2.
Bastion is the better exotic fusion for PvP, but baiting someone into walking into a cluster of Telesto bolts will never not be funny.

Killing Floor 2's M99. Footage doesn't even do justice to how satisfying it is to use.

It's a shame the game went to shit as time went by, because despite how inferior the perk system was to KF1, at least gunplay was tight before Tripwire outsourced new content to literal nobodies.

Gotta be the Unreal Tournament Flak Cannon. There's nothing quite like a shotgun that also acts as a grenade launcher when the victim tries to escape. Nothing quite like slapping someone with a lobbed flak shell the moment they turn the corner when you heard 'em coming.

Bastion was a blast when it could slap through supers. Fusions in general were a joy. My personal favorites were a plug one with under pressure/kick start and a likely suspect with firmly planted/successful warm up before the fp nerf.

It is undeniable the Turok games had badass weaponry. The Cerebral Bore? That shit was awesome.

Was going to say cerebral bore. That farsight or whatever it was called and the slayer rockets in perfect dark were also pretty cool. Also, killing things with the charged plasma beam in metroid prime is pretty satisfying to watch as they incinerate into dust.

Always loved a good flame thrower or laser gun. But only the cool laser guns where you hold down to shoot a continuous stream.

Do mods count? I’m playing Minecraft modded with a musket and shit is cash.

If not, idk it’s pretty satisfying to get a knockback 2 sword or a punch 2 bow and fling zombies off of ledges.
Black powder weapons are usually fun in those kinds of games. The big boom plus the pay off between loading activates the primitive parts of your brain.
