What would you do if you "had the money"?

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Buy small house or condo in a safe area. Just live there. God I'm boring. I've been a poorfag all my life and I wouldn't know what to do with more money than I could live on comfortably. By comfortably I mean, food, shelter, clothing. My needs are very basic. Well I would like a PC that was new. I'm grateful for secondhand stuff but I'd love to be able to spend money on new things without the guilt that I wasted the money I'd been saving.

Honestly, I want to live in a colder climate with cool springs, shorter summers and autumns that aren't just July with brown leaves. I'm sick of the heat and I think I have reverse SAD. I shouldn't be wearing summer clothes on Christmas.

I'd like to help people with housing. I think it's horrifying that there isn't enough affordable housing in major US cities and waiting lists are so long. If I had billions that's what I'd likely sink it into.

I'd commission one of those quadruple gun deck Galleons, hire a band of merry men and pirate the Great Lakes

Well, I am a simple man.

I'd build a replica of a 1920s airship.

Maybe I'd have some inner modern concessions for safety so the thing doesn't go Hindenburg, but imagine rolling into a city in a fucking ZEPPELIN.

I would literally do nothing.

I'd tell nobody and i would not make any big expenses or anything that doesn't look like something i could afford myself. I am simple, as long as my basic needs are met and i am comfortable i don't need or want luxury. I don't like money for what it can buy but for the security it can give.

BUT i wouldn't have to work for other people anymore. I'd just spend my days learning new stuff and trying really dumb ideas with no pressure of anyone buying them, playing vidya and going to the park to sit around and do nothing. I suffer from anxiety and getting close to the age when its going to start taking a toll, i would like to be as relaxed as possible and focus on health.

Maybe travel once or twice a year to a new country. Renew my bathroom. Buy a new PC . Maybe a second hand car thats easy to maintain, i don't really like driving and i hate dealing with cars but it would be useful.

It could be 100k or 100 million usd and my plan would be the same.

How would you make that plan work on 100k unless you only had a handful of years left?
100k would actually be a lot for my third world country, as far as living expenses go that could last a long time. But i meant it more as in, the ammount would not alter my lifestyle too much even if it was much more than that.

Soon as I have it I’m getting out of the US. I know people in The Philippines and Chile.

Why is complex. I don’t feel at home here. I have a lot of friends sure, but I get along better with immigrants. I’m sure there’s plenty of struggles overseas I’m not used to as a privileged American. I’ll deal with them. The places I have been to I’ve been fairly okay overseas and enjoyed my time there more than any place here in the States.

I guess I’d start a convenience store or some kind of landscaping business from there while I do tech stuff. That’s all I can think of. I don’t need a lot to be happy.

Buy a very modest house in the UP, a summer car, a winter car, and open a small hydroponic tomato greenhouse to give me a reason to get out of bed in the morning.

Not halfto worry about working travel and be able to truly enjoy life although that's of course not to say I'm not enjoying it now.

Buy out 4chan and turn it into what it was supposed to be all along; Futaba but for the West.
Improving the quality of discussion would be my #1 priority.
I'd start by deleting the faggotry boards like /lgbt/ and /trash/. Probably /mlp/ too, since what fucking loser is still interested in that gay pre-schooler shite in 2022 lmao
The video game boards would be revamped. /vmg/ would probably go, since no-one actually gives a shit about mobile games, and /vr/ would be reverted to the way it was a few years ago; consoles up to the Dreamcast, no later. PS2/Xbox/GC is not "retro" nor is any gen after that due to the graphical advancements. Might even push it back further to fourth gen, and open up a separate board for more modern classic games.
/tv/ as it exists is too wide-encompassing for any serious discussion; /film/ would be created for the discussion of kino, and /tvr/ would be created for shows which aired their final episode 20 or more years ago, so it can instead focus on contemporary TV series discussion at a slower pace.
All of the urbanist faggots and cyclists would be kicked out of /n/ so it could return to being a train enthusiast forum, as its creator intended.
/oe/, for electrically-powered vehicles, would be created. Anyone posting or talking about EVs in /o/ after that will be banned.
Monkeyfuckers and animal abusers that spam /gif/ would be mercilessly stomped down upon.
I'd commission an AI robojanny that could automatically detect soyjaks, even the AI-generated ones that are disguised as something else.
An actual Appeals Board would be set-up that listen to the appeals members send, as well as looking at the post made by the originally-banned member. If it is decided the janny was acting out of line, then they would be punished accordingly.
Character limit would be extended by 1 - 2000 chars or so.
You'd be able to attach up to 5 pics per post, like on 8ch.
Any post containing the "▸" character is automatically flagged for review as it's indicative the whole thing is a /qa/-tier copypaste of another post.
Posts featuring more than 4 other posts without sufficient text breaking them up will be blocked, so no more "All me" posts.
Instead of the underageb& rule, partly because m00t was a hypocrite who founded and used the site himself when he was underage, and partly because it's so difficult to prove without prior evidence, first-time visitors would be given an aptitude test of sorts to see if they know most well-established board culture memes and in-jokes. Each question would be sampled from a pool of thousands, and randomly picked/ordered, with no way to manually scrape them. You fail, you're given an automatic 2 year ban and told to lurk.
Just little tweaks and QoL improvements that would make 4chan a more pleasant, uncensored place for discussion. I could legit go on for hours.

If money wasn't a concern, I'd essentially buy the town by buying up all of the rental properties and then evicting all of the deadbeats. Then for the tenants that remain, I'd offer them the better rental units that the deadbeats were abusing at the same rent prices they were currently paying in an effort to get those remaining out of the really shitty parts of town. After everyone's been consolidated, I'd have the shittiest places torn down and leave those lots vacant. Any remaining places, I'd clean up and would make them available for rent, but only through word of mouth with references from existing tenants and/or people I know personally.

Again this would only be possible if I had no concerns for money, because there would be fair housing lawsuits since there's always a cavalcade of lawyers ready to defend deadbeats. Also I would need some physical protection since there's no way the local news wouldn't get word of this.

I would start a private think tank where both humans and AI collaborate to predict stock markets, future events, and other stuff via analysis of raw data. I would also start a private school with a greater emphasis on teaching maths and engineering, because as a kid public schooling never really nurtured that part of me and I had to figure it out on my own.

I would set up a herpetology research lab that would make N.E.R.D. look like a ghetto pet shop. If it isn't a species that is normally born in captivity, it would be after I take a crack at it. I would make hybrids like the boaconda look like a corn snake in comparison. There would be a focus on naturalistic conditions for the enclosures (rackfags and Aspen shavings fags can die in a fire), and behavioral research (reptiles are actually intelligent goddamnit). I would hire current students, recent graduates and professional amateurs at 2x the going rate (and give them fucking health insurance). Eventually it would expand into mammalian research as well (I wanna teach monkeys how to smoke weed, ride skateboards, and shoot paintball guns).
