what's wrong with computer mice?

While trackballs are retarded for moving the cursor, mice need to have trackball scroll wheels. Sometimes I need to scroll both vertically and horizontally, which is impossible with regular scroll wheels. Someone should make optical mouses with trackball scroll wheels, as I can't find any examples of them online.
i used this in college. Kind of mad they dont make them still. The scroll wheel on this thing should be everywhere.

I got a Bluetooth one out of a box of unused gear at my office, along with a Bluetooth Apple Compact keyboard that a client was just getting rid of because they were too dumb to realize Bluetooth works on Windows too.

Another client had us onsite for a project and told me to go through their box of stuff they were about to e-cycle and I found a Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse (the AA batery version!).

Great gear, even better for free.

besides the blackberry trackball, these things are complete ass because the touch surface is capacative and there's only one physical button so you have to physically keep your fingers floating above the mouse. i used them in high school to edit video in final cut and they were very annoying

i used apple wireless keyboards for a while but they died after a year even after meticulously trying to take care of them. i went through like 3 before i learned my lesson

The one I had wasn't capacitive. But yeah I agree the ones that are suck ass.

clit is bad
I fucking hate clitty always
Even though I bought a mouse for my ThinkPad I end up using the clitty anyways on it, and I realized why it's so good. All I really do on it is web browsing, document editing and other types of desktop work. So let's say I'm writing something, a forum post, or a Word document, or an Excel spreadsheet. I want to click on a button or navigate to a different point of the text with the cursor.

At my PC I have to let go of the keyboard, move my hand all the way to the right to grab the mouse, then move it, click what I want to click, and then move it all the way back to the keyboard to return to typing. The hand travel time keeps slowing you down in productivity, and the same applies to the trackpad, as you have to let go of the keyboard, shift your entire hand down, and then swipe around multiple times to get the cursor to where you want to go.

On the ThinkPad, there is practically zero hand travel time, and it's all within the same efficient muscle memory where touch typing resides. I just shift my right hand's index finger to the cross-section of G, B and H keys, the thumb slightly below the spacebar and now I'm using the mouse cursor with nothing but minimal pressure on the tip of my index finger. Once I'm done it's an instantaneous shift to typing again. Immensely ergonomic and I hate myself for not getting the wireless ThinkPad keyboard when it was in stock, and also Lenovo for discontinuing it and not releasing a new version of it.

Obviously the mouse will always be superior for precision and gaming, but then again, when you're just lounging around the desktop, the TrackPoint is immensely comfortable. And dare I say it, it's actually a very nice mouse input for more casual first person games like Minecraft compared to a touchpad when you don't have the space for a mouse. It's like a more precise controller stick.

Speaking of precision, disabling mouse acceleration improves it on every form of input. Windows has it on by default, as well as some Linux DE's. If you're on team Redmond, Win+R, main.cpl, Pointer Options, and uncheck Enhance Pointer Precision. Disable that, hate yourself for not realizing it earlier, and have another valid reason to hate Microsoft. Imagine calling it "Enhance Pointer Precision" when it does the literal opposite and then keep it enabled by default decades after ball mice went extinct and when every optical mouse has a high enough DPI to be able to traverse the entire screen with a flick of a wrist. Fuck you Microsoft.

I find having to move my hand slightly is a good compromise for the greater control and precision a trackpad gives you. I also find it more comfortable to use over a longer period of time. I find the little nub starts to wear on your finger after prolonged use.
