When did Clown World officially start?

1996, Department of Motor Vehicles, United States of America. One man, who will remain unnamed, found himself in a unique position in history. He had successfully created
the successor to the second temple of god, in electronic form, and maintained direct communication with god. He was the most powerful man of the early to mid 90s. Realizing his power, the CIA created a red herring at the DMV to drive the man to insanity. They had an agent shove a loaded .45 down a child actors mouth, fucking with him. The man taught the agent to pull the trigger. The child was killed. The man was convicted with 3 life sentences. On August 11, 2018, he "killed himself", essentially driving our society to godless anarchy.

RIP

The rise of mercantilism, with the biggest red flag being the Opium Wars.

When corporations started getting bigger guns and armies than nations, that was the beginning of the end.

Weird way to ask a question. The juxtaposition between an official opening and a emperor wears no clothes but a balldo clown world. Offcially? There is no clown world. It's all serious business.

9/11 was when Clown Airlines started towards the runway, 2012 and Occupy was when the acceleration down the runway began, 2016 and Orange Man Bad was when the plane took off, and 2020 is when cruising altitude was reached and fasten seatbelt sign was turned off.

(and the non-stop flight seems to be flying towards tyranny airport)

Clown World isn't a thing in and of itself, it is a tendency within all human societies and civilizations, a form of entropy, in which the forces of order and continuity that preserve are overcome and chaos and disruption rule until either normalcy is re-established or there is a collapse and new order emerges from the inchoate swirling social forces.

Many people have written about Clown World, though they did not call it such; guys like Ibn Khaldun, Oswald Spengler and Jacques Barzun.

Our current descent? I would trace the root causes as a result of World War I and the collapse of the old world order which had survived and adapted to the social challenges of the French Revolution, but failed to take into account all the long-term knock-on effects of the Industrial revolution. This lead to a series of challengers for a new order, of which WWII and the Cold War were the result. After the destruction of WWII, America and the Atlanticist order triumphed, but failed to take into account that the economic good times were something of an anomaly, which came to a head in the 1970s. At that point, I believe, the economic policy choices taken by Reagan, Bush, and Clinton were to prolong that economic dominance at the cost of greater and greater pain when the bills of all sorts came due. During Bush II and Obama, it was becoming clear that it was all a shell game of complex financial apparatuses used to bolster a regiment of over-production and over-consumption among an atmosphere of speculation. This incredibly unstable culture of consumption and speculation has degraded everything within our culture that does not have a price tag on it, and promoted modes of life that further erode stability. Now we have reached a point where the engine is melting down. Affordable family formation is impossible in large swathes of the Western world, and more and more people are seeing that the jig is up and checking out, or worse trying to set the world on fire out of spite.

We are now at the point where the choice is painful readjustment of expectations and outcomes, or collapse in the manner of the Western Roman Empire, only this time, world wide, and with nukes floating around. Not good.

Should also point out 1996 is the year Deeker.com went online, so this is a strong contender for the start of clown world.

For me, I'd say 2004. Clowns like Ward Churchill were given screentime and were taken seriously by left-leaning groups and generated a culture of Anti-American sentiment in response to the Iraq War. Anything remotely associated with George W. Bush was demonized and anything that was opposite of what the "evil, warmongering Republicans" represented was propped up. Hence why the alphabet mafia started to become more prevalent and why people with pro-Marxist (or Marxist derivatives) sympathies started to gain traction (see Obama and "spread the wealth"). Subsequent events that helped fuel Clown World were the 2007 writer strike in Hollywood (which has profoundly affected the entertainment industry in ways we are still reeling from), the Great Recession (institutions "too big to fail" propped up by government), the Election of Barack Obama in 2008 (the apology tour for atonement "America's arrogance" made the US look weak in the eyes of its enemies, the appointments of individuals from "marginalized communities" in positions of power solely based upon their "marginalized" status, the far-left and corrupt ties Obama had with individuals such as Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers
and groups like ACORN, etc.) and the rise of of social media. I particularly point out Google's purchase of YouTube as a milestone. When Occupy Wallstreet happened, the cultural seeds planted by Anti-American Marxists in 2004 reared its ugly head.

Really though, I think the hivemind created by everyone being constantly plugged-in during all their waking hours is the biggest driver of "clown world", so;

When apple released the smart phone in 2007
Or somewhere around then is a good answer.

I feel like 9/11 was the time period that the US's downfall began, and it really got worse in the 2010s especially when the media distracted Occupy Wall Street with a new, more ridiculous form of Political Correctness. Of course, the Trump years were not very helpful either.

This. "Clown world" isn't the cool, meme way that the kids of today refer to liberalism or political tyranny or whatever. It specifically refers to the Emperor's New Clothes -tier stage where everything becomes political and a self-evident farce (to the average, non-partisan) designed to demoralize and train a population for learned helplessness. For our purposes, that would be circa 2013-ish and Obama's second term with the vesting of corporate power fully into this new stage where psychological warfare is overtly waged on the state's own citizens. This was concurrent with a "final" push to politicize the last vestiges of "non-political" institutions such as science/medicine.

While it may be useful to understand the origins of Clown World or Clown World in other civilizations/eras, deluding the phrase to mean essentially liberalism or state-ism is probably not helpful.

Also, I love how Clinton gets blamed for Iraq and Mess-o-potamia. George H.W. Bush is like the Gen-X of presidents. Nobody even knows he existed. That's some top-tier glow from a career glowie.

Edit:
When apple released the smart phone in 2007
Apple's done some shit but IIRC their first contribution to current Clown World was to, in 2014, release for free force an objectively bad U2 album complete with intentionally-provocative gay twink album artwork and questionable album title onto their 500M users through pushing it into their iTunes libraries knowing full well what they were doing and how their users would encounter said album and how most of them would react (disgust followed by confusion followed by private deletion followed by quiet seethe at having no control). Apple just doing their part as good Corporate Citizens for this domestic color revolution, I guess, but that's Clown World.
