Berserk.

GRRM is lazy, not in good health due to his weight and getting up there in age. He'll die before he finishes it at the rate he's going. Don't tell him that though, he'll start sperging on Twitter before going back to trying to get his woke! good boy points instead of finishing his series.

ASOIAF is overrated these days anyway. Get back into Wild Cards, George.

I'm gonna say Berserk just by sheer virtue of Miura being in his early 50s. He's no spring chicken to be sure, and he'd probably finish by the time he's an old man, but that's a hell of a lot better than Martin, who is 70 and fat.

Anyone else find it kinda weird how Martin’s fat ass got a FromSoftware game before Miura, the guy who inspired the Souls games?

Song of Ice and Fire.

I might eat my words on this, but Martin's been eating healthier and, even though he's old and fat, he hasn't had any significant health issues.

His father died relatively young. But he had a hard life, and apparently smoked quite a bit of tobacco, which I've never heard of Martin doing. His mother also made it to 81, which gives him plenty more time.

Miura has a much more demanding job, is far further away from an end than even Eiichiro Oda, and works at a snails pace. I still think he'll do it, but he's gotta be two decades away.

Martin, I can at least see finishing in the '20s. Laugh all you like, but there's no way Miura beats him.

Berserk is already at least 75% done, Miura confirmed.

And chapters still get released from time to time, and have steadily been increasing; a whole ballpark from ASOFAI's current status. That, and Miura isn't morbidly obese with one foot in the grave either.

Besides the whole being morbidly obese. No way that dude has normal blood pressure and and less than 3 clogged arteries.
He's not morbidly obese.

Sure, he's fat, but this is not the picture of a morbidly obese man.

He doesn't even look all that different from how Tolkien looked in his early 70s.

He lived another decade. And Tolkien smoked quite a bit of tobacco. Which I've never heard of Martin doing.

Admittedly, it was pipe tobacco. As long as you don't inhale that into your lungs, it's pretty much fine. But Martin doesn't smoke in any fashion. And he lives in Santa Fe, which has better air than anywhere in England.

"This set of genetics is completely different from this other set of genetics but we can definitely predict outcome based on lifestyle alone"

It's no definite prediction, but it's absurd to act like Martin's in the fatness danger zone. He's a fat guy from Jersey, but he's not Steve Schirripa or James Gandolfini.

Guyver.
Jokes aside, I'm betting on Berserk, even though I don't think it will be a finale with a showdown between Griffith and Guts, not with the narrative path the story took a few volumes ago. Anyway, we can't know...

This. People keep talking about the inevitable "revenge arc" of Guts vs Griffith. But I don't see that shit happening anymore. Miura's writing isn't as grimdark as it once was and he's made Guts go from angry edgelord to a pretty mellow and happy fellow, especially with the shit he's been saying and doing in magic fairy land about finally finding peace. People say its to mislead you but Miura just isn't the same grimdarkfag he used to be. I'm not complaining though, I like it and this development. I just want to see this shit end before my hair turns gray.

The beauty of Berserk is that is "subverts expectations" in a GOOD way. Guts has gone from being a broken murdering shell of a human being at the beginning and evolved to someone finally somewhat at peace and surrounded by people that care about him. I don't mind a showdown but I'd be equally happy with someone else curbstomping Griffith while Guts and Casca go fuck off to live with the elves and make non-demonic babies.

Berserk. Miura has a distinct advantage over Martin in that Miura has been making Manga since he was 13(thats not a typo) and has been doing this his whole life. He literally has a good 40 years of experience as a mangaka and the scary thing about Miura is how good he's gotten as an artist the last 20 years. He was always a good artist, but he really grew a lot since the late 90s. If you study the poses, details, expressions, and even lighting of the panels its a lot more mature in whats presented artistically. He even managed to cope with the changes of going digital really well and knew what details to sacrifice and what to keep.

I think part of what keeps me reading berserk these almost 20 years now is how much life there is to the manga. Miura could have chosen to end Berserk a long time ago, gave Guts a happy ending after getting revenge and saving Casca or some lazy Tite Kubo shonen writing. Yet here we are, what 41 volumes of the graphic novel and down to presumably the last 10-12 or so of them and everything in the world of Berserk has managed to become even more unsettling and suspenseful due to The Isle of Elves and the emergence of Falconia.

Theres a real bitch of a storm brewing and its hard to say whats gonna happen next. Especially when Guts still has that Behelit thats never left his side.

I'll take that over Martin not writing or not finishing what he's written.

I’m betting on Berserk or Hunter x Hunter finishing first. I mean people forget the fact that ONE PIECE is still considered to be in its early stage still.

I do get the feeling that there might be a showdown, but it’d be Guts being more motivated to protect others moreso than revenge (especially if *somehow* Guts and Casca start becoming more of a liability for Griffith somehow).
