It seems like people are basically assigning blame down party lines, which isn't really too surprising, but people seem kind of short on an actual justification for their views that would actual hold up in a debate.

I'd throw this on Trump and the Republicans myself, but I also don't think the border wall would actually do anything in the first place.
 
The American people elected Donald Trump on a platform of decreased immigration from countries known to harbor terrorists, a big, beautiful wall, better trade deals, and a shot in the arm for the rust belt. To fight those directives tooth and nail is to subvert democracy itself. Right, wrong, or in between, this is the will of the people. Civil servants must enact the will of the people, it's in the job title. If you have a moral objection to the platform - resign.
 
I blame the state of Kentucky for giving birth to Mitch McConnell. He's extremely unpleasant as a person, and an awful negotiator who refuses to negotiate.

He knows the government is going to keep him paid, he's too old to really care about the future of America, and doesnt give a shit about the shutdown.

But I blame the shutdown on Kiwi Farms.
