Why do you rate things the way that you do?

I go like for posts that make me smile but not laugh or for posts that state something I like.
Dislike for posts that state something I dislike.
Agree for ones that I think are both truthful and have some insight, as opposed to like which might as well be telling me that there's no traffic jam tomorrow.
Disagree for things that I do not agree with but don't think are dumb.
Winner for stuff that I find to be clever.
Informative for informative stuff.
Thunkful is a catchall for stuff that is either blatantly obvious or implying things.
Feels for feels.
Optimistic is pretty much interchangeable with Thunkful these days.
Islamic content for gross shit and actual posts about Islam.
Autistic for people who talk about how they don't get sarcasm.
Powerlevel isn't used much anymore but its "informative" for posts about how prison system dynamics work and the like.
Late for reposting shit that was already brought up a page ago.
Dumb for really stupid political posts... conspiracy theories, Trump will win because I want him to and damn all the evidence, freedom of speech doesn't actually mean freedom of speech, etc. And the occasional time a cow will show up to defend his shitty fetish or community.

i really like the thoughtful rating, it fits so many situations

>dumb post worthy of a 'really makes you think' shitpost reply
>smart post that actually makes you think
>exceptional post that tries to sound smart
>actual big brain post that i'm too stupid to understand
 fits all of them, it's one of the few ratings that always works, no matter if you use it ironically or seriously

Counting cards pal, fair play.

I always treat :like: as sort of a "Runner Up" rating of sorts. I use it for posts I approve of, but aren't particularly funny.

I use :dislike: when I feel that neither "Autistic" or "Dumb" quite fit the bill, but are still somewhat cringy.

:agree: and :disagree: are self-explanatory

I use :winner: for some of the more funny or witty posts.

:informative: is for informative posts, whether it be useful info on a lolcow, or just pointless internet trivia.

Thunkful is for posts that ask awkward questions, stuff that actually makes you think, or questions with fairly obvious answers.

I use :feels: as sort of a "Super Agree" rating or for sympathetic posts.

:islamic: is for disgusting shit, bad art, and actual Islamic Content.

:autism: is for neckbeard posts, rage posts, or where the user in question acts like a complete nerd in general.

:optimistic: is for posts that predict something unlikely, homoerotic posts, and posts where the user acts way too gleefully.

:powerlevel: is used for posts leaking embarrassing personal information.

:late: is for posts that state the obvious and redundant posts.

Finally, :dumb: are for completely pointless posts and just plain retarded posts.

I can't be the first person to rate a post because I get paralyzed with anxiety at the thought that others will rate the post differently and then I'll feel like an outcast :'(
Instead I wait to see how others rated a post and give it the same rating because that means now they're my friends :feels: and they will be nice to me and won't make fun of me :)
I also only post things I think people will give me happy stickers for, if I shared my actual opinion and received a neg rating I'd probably have to get back into cutting to be able to cope (:_(
I hope this was helpful fellow Kiwi, it's a scary world out there with treacherous seas to navigate. Be safe and have fun :semperfidelis:

If I like a poster's comments I'll give a positive rating and I try to rate nicely. If the comment is dumb or I disagree with it and I don't like it then negative. Sometimes it's mixed with shitposting though.
*shrug*

I nervously await the group consensus on any given post then throw my vote at the most popular item so it looks like I'm not out of touch.

No but actually I just revenge rate people for rating my dumb posts dumb.

This thread made me realize I have only ever rated something dislike once, as well as having only used feels once. So whoever got those from me should feel pretty special.

I hand out the :like::agree::winner: like candy though. I try to use agree to mean agree, and like if it's funny, or makes a good point, and winner if it's really funny or good.

I try to rate posts correcting my wrong stuff :agree:, not like anyone's going to check and see I did, but whatever.

Wow, congratulations! You've succeeded where others have failed: you got all ratings!

I did my part with, I think, the disagree or first thumbs down. I ran the gauntlet once a while back with a post making fun of police officers who killed an innocent person (the Swautistic thread.) Everybody loved/hated it. Also bring back A-lauging as a rating.
