Why do you rate things the way that you do?

If something is informative, I rate it informative. If something is helpful or funny, I give it winner or a like. If something is autistic, I give it autistic.

Not as nuanced as the rest of you, I guess.

It's 50/50 for me. Sometimes a joke (e.g. the ratings of the posts in this thread), sometimes serious.

Luckily I haven't encountered anyone who has commented on the ratings I give. It shows that no one here cares about anything miniscule like that, and the rating system in general. If you're getting a lot of neg ratings or the same neg rating by a lot of people though, then that's when you should look at what you're doing and fix your behavior (assuming they haven't already made a comment about it).

If someone starts chimping out about a specific rating or ratings in general, you should always rate them whatever they're chimping out about to see what they do.
