Why is TGK popular?

I've tried finding the entertainment in this guy but I just could not. He's no Chris in his prime or Jace right now, someone with big fun trainwrecks to watch. Sonichu was a more hilarious spectacle even if GK's comics are actually worse in quality. I tried watching one of GK's streams but it was incredibly boring for me.

That's not knocking anyone who finds him interesting... I just feel I should mention here, since the question was asked to the forums at large, that for me at least this guy's entertainment appeal is very limited. Keep having fun, guys- maybe there's good content to be had from him yet.

Edit: Eh, I should have read the whole thread, I just echoed there what so many already said in it.

From the initial Gmod time I could tell he really isn't goldmine material. For one, he didn't mind 9/11 jokes, and 9/11 jokes are an instant autist detonation button. His artwork really isn't notable because it just blends in with the other background noise of Deviantart in that it's a copy of something from Cartoon Network and done in Paint. Aside from a silly moment where he claimed he believed that Jedi are a real religion, he was just too goddamn loud on the mic and not really hilarious so much as listen and nod in return. That and his laughter kept me from playing the piano or micspamming, and that's a big no.
 
The mismatch between the Palladium Prick's self-assessment and reality is fucking hilarious. Also, that he has held a grudge against his brother for twenty years for busting up a papier-mâché piggy bank.

By potential I mean the stream has potential. Of course we shouldn't expect someone to be good at something like this when he quits a job after like two weeks.

Jace is kind of in a league of his own. It wasn't even a fair comparison on my part as I'm still trying to wrap my head around operation Tupacolypse. But I agree with you on the potential. Thats kinda what keeps drawing me back to this board even though I have a hard time following whats going on.

Its almost like Jace, GK and Mole took three different aspects of the ultimate lolcow, Chris to extremes.

Jace has his absurdity and penchant for doing ridiculous shit. Mole has(had) his horrible artwork and refusal to stop responding to trolls. And GK seems to have picked up failure and extreme laziness.

I think I'm gonna try and go through that GK thread again and get a better grasp of whats going on.

edit: Mole is also gay like Chris.

It's like the holy trinity, but instead of actually relevant things it's got shit, shit and shit.

Anyways. All three of them are fascinatingly horrible in their own ways, which makes which one of them more entertaining a matter of personal taste. I guess our Pig Iron Terror here is a fairly popular subject due to his obsession with certain works of fiction and very heavy disconnection from reality, which is a trait shared by the lolcow we all know and love.

But "failure and extreme laziness" isn't really special in and of itself. There are many, many others with being a failure, being lazy, and having weird fetishes.

Lolcow watching isn't a zero-sum game. Following GK doesn't mean you can't follow Chris or Jace.
Having lots of cows to watch makes it easier when one hits a dry spell.
GK has five years' worth of lulzy dA journals, stories and artwork. His streams are long and only infrequently interesting, but he continue to produce other kinds of content, too.
This subforum doesn't mean GK is Rookie Lolcow of the Year 2014. It's not a seal of approval on how funny his content is. It's not a "well-done" to the people interested in him. GK conversation filled two threads in four months. This is a place to better organise that ongoing conversation.
 
Some people want a new Chris. They figured out that they can't do Chris tactics with Jace, and thus decided to try out GK.

That's not the case at all. When topper originally posted this guy, I would assume all of us were laughing at his ego and his ability to draw/write. When the Christmas journal popped up, our laughter turned to disgust. We've seen pedophiles discussed on the forums, but nothing like this. He came to us and actually talked shit out. After he rage quite twice, something happened and he unintentionally started to tell more about himself through sweethearts/posts on his DA page. We learned he is an abusive asshole who constantly whines when he doesn't get his way. On top of that, his "fetishes" are so outside the norm, I don't think even the BDSM community would touch him. The more we listened, the more we realized that this person is beyond any help. This last part is my own opinion, but whatever he gets, he deserves it.

Overall, it's not that we want a new Chris. We want to know how he turned out this way. Like every lolcow, it's like a train wreck in slo mo and you can't look away.

I think it's because of how entertainingly wrong he is that interests me. Some of the examples being -

- He wants to be a world famous comic artist despite the fact that he's terrible at art and doesn't even enjoy drawing. He just wants instant fame with the bare minimum amount of work put into it.

- He wants to be a fighter pilot and an epic badass hero even though he pretended to faint to get out of riding a roller coaster because he was too much of a coward to admit he was afraid of them.

- He wants (or at least wanted) a job fixing computers, even though time and time again he's shown that he knows next to nothing about technology.

- He wants a girlfriend who can take jellyfish stings, thumbtacks to the feet and pistol-whips to the head, but once she shows interest in doing the same sort of thing to him he backs out immediately.
 
I think people kind of forced the issue of trolling GK. GK would not be as popular on this forum if certain people had not coerced him into a lot of things.
 
I can honestly say GK is the first person we've discussed on this forum that I genuinely dislike. Like Chris and Jace are both racist, homophobic, and delusional idiots. But I still like them because they both seem like they both could've been decent people but they both had a shitty upbringing and both have pretty severe mental problems. Jay on the other hand, is arrogant, abusive, egotistical, perverted, a pedophile, and a psychopath who kills small animal for the fun of it and even went as far as having a small kitten decapitated in his comic just to show how little he cares about animals. And he does all this shit while claiming he's this big epic selfless hero who has nothing but positive traits and people only hate him because they are EVILDOERS. I honestly only follow him because my inner Alog enjoys watching things he does fuck up and come back on him.
 
Checked out his stream and I couldn't make it. Props to the few who can, no sarcasm.

Honestly I've started to slip slowly off the GK wagon, but here's to hoping he can get entertaining again for those who want to keep up!
