Debra Wilson is basically the only black actress who will act in video games so that's why she's in everything. I get the hate for her being overused but she was actually great on MadTV back in the day, I remember laughing my ass off at her great imitation of Dr. Melfi in the Sopranos skit. A lot of the hate would go away if the current political agenda did not exist, she was in better games, in less games, and most importantly not using her face scan and instead just use her as a normal VA because she is talented.

Also on the topic of Zendaya she isn't ugly, but she is just completely average and there is nothing special about her looks compared to any model or famous actress of the past. Are Debra's characters meant to be hot though? I don't mind "ugly" characters or average looking characters in video games or TV shows, what I don't like is when video games or TV shows show us ugly or average looking people and then try to pretend they're beautiful. I only know Debra Wilson voiced a character in MGS but they didn't use face capture, I'm not sure of her other characters besides what I saw yesterday in the new Death Stranding trailer.

I think Zendaya is just a decent actress to cast because she is "safe" to hire with all of this DEI nonsense. She isn't ugly or fat. She can look more down to earth and relatable, or she can look cute and sexy, it all depends on the makeup and wardrobe. She can also lean into her blackness or whiteness depending what role she's playing, so she can cater to different audiences. She may not be the best actress out there but she also isn't terrible. I can see why Hollywood goes for her, especially if they need a "diverse" role.

Casting directors are uncreative and don't really scout talent. They cast who they see, with a checklist in mind. Zendaya is female, mixed-race, and young. If she were one of the Alphabet people, they'd score Bingo and literally cast her in everything (they figuratively already do).
