They feel it disparages the hikikomori lifestyle and most of them agree that Wizardchan is a good place because it allows you to escape normal people with normal friendships, jobs, and romantic entanglements. When you have people meeting up and talking about their friends it makes them feel threatened and lesser. They strip everyone down to the lowest level in discussion.

I think meeting friends over wizardchan is forbidden to keep the rule of being anonymous and not giving your contact info.
I guess if some wizard wrote that he found another wizard in real life, he wouldn't be banned.

Well, to be fair, sitting on your arse all day doing whatever you want could be considered living the life. I'd love to be able to do that, but preferably with 1) money I earned rather than collected from the government and 2) people to do things with - there's only so much internet I can do without wanting to have a pint with the lads or whatever.

There have been some arguments about whether or not they should do that. There was a huge shitstorm after one of the admins put a link to a suicide prevention website at the top of the page.
