Words & Phrases DSP Has Invented or Misuses - DSP'isms that make you say "HUUUHN?!?"

While technically not wrong, he really should just use today. He reminds of those "smart" guy posts that float around where the poster used a thesaurus to swap words and sound smarter.

It works if you have an audience of pseudo intellectuals that sniff their own ass crack because of how smart they think they are. Kraut and Tea had a good 2 or 3 years(he popped up post gamergate right?).

DSP doesn't really have to fish in the pseudo intellectuals. I think his appeal is his average everyguy attitude, and vocabulary. Which in the realm of soy and hyper sugar sissy fucks like Ninja, and Markiplier, he may be filling that niche.

All speculation of course.

If you really pay attention, his use of "modern era" isn't actually based on anything going on in the world, it's based on his own timeline. The modern era to Phil either began when he got together with Kat, because he wants to erase history until he finally grew up and became a normal adult human man, or when he was forced to become more PC and changed his content, as in all the times when he says "Old Phil would have done racist jokes, I don't do that in the modern era."

It's just a way to aggrandize himself, his sad fake life we're all jealous of IS the modern era.

Does he really don't know how to pronounce "frogs", "logs", "cogs", "dolphins", etc properly? Is it really just a Connecticut thing with his accent?

I think that's just the accent. I hear Non-Phil people saying Frahg, Lahg, etc. sometimes.
After hearing him for so long, I started noticing how people actually talk irl, it didn't bother me before that. And sometimes it's triggering, when I catch myself on hating how people talk. I need a vacation from DSP content.

He's one of those types of people that will mispronounce words and not blink an eye. Doesn't even bother to second guess himself out loud and goes with the flow. He's also the type who has on stream, tooted his own horn about his vocabulary from someone ass kissing him about it with a cheer/tip.

He will find some word like erroneous to sound smart which you will hear him say ONCE in awhile. Erroneous in place of saying WRONG, which he loves to emphasize when he gets defensive about his own intellect. And most of the time it falls flat because he cannot even pronounce his profound vocabulary.

I remember him saying something like "I took advanced English classes in school" in his Tomb Raider stream. He barely uses that knowledge he and how many people pointed out in this thread, most of his usage is basically wrong. Because he doesn't know exact definitions or just confusing with other words.

You can really sum up his vocabulary just listening to his prestreams. He talks about the same shit on the daily and that's the extent of it.

From the recent prestream : "it's time [for you] to stop living in the past and start living in the modern era". Now replacing the word "present" with "modern era".

He's really determined to make "the modern era" the new detractor meme.

I guess it's his way of saying "current year" but it doesn't make sense, like most things he says

"Pretty cool, haaaw?"
has to be one of my favorite phrases recently, quite the meme, also used by Tevin quite often. I picked this up when the entire internet in Washington went out. If you remember, Phil blamed detractors for hacking both his lines, even after he got informed that most of WA went bonkers.

However, the quote comes from the start of his mobile phone stream when he filmed a mirror image of his display which also showed the stream. "It's streamception guys, streamception. Ack ack ack. It's streamception. Yeah, streamception dood. Streamception".
Apparently this was funny and also very cool as he added "Pretty cool, haaaw"?

Yeah, that's pretty cool if you discover technology for the first time and possess no former knowledge of basic physical laws. In any other case, no, it's not "pretty cool", not amazing, not surprising, not mind boggling. In fact it's literally nothing.

Is he also amazed when he sees himself in a shiny surface, like a mirror? Is it pretty cool when he finds a matching pair of socks? How much amazed is he when a closing door fits exactly in the door frame? Does it require a galaxy brain to comprehend when a light switch toggles the light?

This fits perfectly in his level of "comedy", when he laughs at uninteresting occurrences in games, drives an unfunny joke about a glitch for way too long or acts surprised at the most minor informations (which woke him up from the gin slumber).
Possibly this is simply his usual boring attempt of entertainment. But I'd say it's a combination of all of that, in short, Phil is an idiot.

Pay attention to this phrase when Phil experiences something minor which would normally amuse a hamster for barely five seconds.

*Yes, it's the same stream he repeated "I'm out of the closet" ad absurdum. SO FUNNY PHIL.

It reminds me of a nerdy teacher trying to get class excited about learning. "Ok class, today we're gonna learn how rocks are made. Pretty cool, huh? Then we'll learn about Bismarck, North Dakota. Pretty cool stuff. Finally, we'll learn how to convert fractions into decimals. Very cool stuff. I'm excited.

We are living in the Year of Our Gout, 37 AP (After Phil).

Here's why I laugh my ass off whenever Dave says something about the "modern era":
We aren't in the modern era anymore. Technically, the era we live in now has been named, simply enough, "Modern Times", which began at the end of the revolutions of the 19th century. So that means our current era started riiiight around the 1960s - the revolutions of the 19th century are meant to encompass World War 1 & World War 2 + the emergence of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe socialist blocs of the cold war.

So whenever he says 'modern era' just laugh, because fat boy is already 100 years too late, since 'modern era' is the period of time from 1500 to roughly when Hitler's failed beer hall putsch happened in 1925. Though even that is fuzzy for some - some schools call Hitler's time the Late Modern Era and other schools consider the "Modern Era" to end when the Age of Revolutions dawn, starting about 1848 or so.

"I'll give you the PERFECT example"
- A horrible example which has nothing to do with him.
The perfect example also has to relate whatever the topic at hand is to a restautant or food.

Phil what do you think about loot boxes? Here's a perfect example. Let's say you go to McDonalds...

I'm pretty sure the time period Phil is referring to when he says "the MODERN Era" is after PS4 and XBox One released, so anything happening after November 2013. I think when pressed as to wtf he's talking about he flails his arms around and says, 'Uugnh. .You know. "The Modern Era. . .unngnh 'The Modern Era. .OF GAYMING'!!!! Uh Hunh Hunh Hunh [Leg Slap + Shakes Head]]"

It's another phrase his boomer narc-brain has latched on to. PS4 being released was like his personal Industrial Revolution or something.
