World of Warcraft

for some reason it didnt hooked me, at this point it feels like theyre just trying to pander nostalgiafags with recycled stuff with bad lore
(wods lore was awful, i think)

It's pretty much exactly what they're doing, but I never cared too much about the lolore in the game. It was almost always bad. I also don't think Demon Hunters are the best choice - not only do they look like they impinge pretty heavily on the Warlock motif, they look like they play as warriors crossed with rogues.

But I'm still excited. I still enjoy the core gameplay of raiding with a good team and making progression and I doubt they're going to change much of that given that it was great in Warlords. I just want some form of progression that isn't tied to that and it looks like the weapons thing might be that.

The thing is that i mostly avoided WoW until WoD came around, because it basically pandered to Warcraftfags like me with nostalgia, thats why i kinda gave a fuck about lore.
But then i figured out that lorewise the Warcraft franchise is basically crap nowadays, because you just can't tell a story in a MMO, at least WoW can't do that (I think FFXIV does a decent job with that actually?)

I agree actually. While the fanbase constantly begged blizzard for introducing the Demonhunter class i had mixed feelings. It would have been cool if it was some kind of magicbased melee class, but apparently its more warrior with rogue elements. Also im not too fond of the race restrictions....

I heard it was a thing. I'll probably end up getting it as long as I'm still playing by then. My current job situation's made it hard to get much free time.

I usually don't bother with reading much about what's in it. Either I'm playing so I need to buy it or I'm not so I don't.

I probably won't get it. Even though I want to have a level 110 character.

Rezzing this deadass thread to announce the new expansion

WORLD OF WARCRAFT: THE BATTLE FOR AZEROTH!

FEATURING...

Race variations: which is totally not a desperate ploy to milk shekels from max level spergs who want to be emo darkelf snowflakes
Island exploration/player ships: which are totally not going to get tedious within the first week of play
RTS gameplay: which will totally not be scrapped after a month because of newbie player outrage at not being able to compete against the warcraft 3 neckbeards
In-Game social media: which will totally not be the biggest source of cancer outside chernobyl

For those wondering about the story HAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA nerds. its pirates with dinosaurs with a slight hint of cthulhu. also everybody hates eachother. again. Horde burns down night elf tree land (and probably sexy goat people island), alliance takes over spooky undeadland (and probably faggot elf land), and now the two continents are slapfighting over a bunch of shitty islands.

As for the "new subraces" here is a brief rundown

Void Elves: snowflake emo high elves for the alliance
Nightborne: snowflake emo night elves for the horde
Dark Iron Dwarves: ginger nigger dwarves for the alliance
Highmountain Tauren: cow people with antlers for the horde
Lightforged Draenei: draenei with aryan white skin and tacky gold schtick for the alliance
Zandalari trolls: trolls who are not hunchbacked mongoloids for the horde

on the bright side for all the neckbearded twats whining about how shit the game is now, blizzard are also opening a classic wow server!

so you can all go there and bitch endlessly about how shit vanilla is

oh baby, I've been waiting for official vanilla servers. I can finally play without fear of the server getting taken down by lawyers.

The pathetic crying from the nu-wow babbies is a nice bonus

I thought those was pretty weird choices. Everyones wanted High Elves for the Alliance, and you'd think they'd go with Eredar(Demonic Draenei) for the Horde. Some of the races that have been in the game for a long time people have been hoping to play. Like the most of the side races from Pandaria, or even Forest Trolls. I think many will be disappointed with races that were just introduced in the last expansion.

I have no opinion on the Classic servers, I played during classic, I don't feel a need to go back to something I already spent years on. It might make people appreciate what they've done with the game now though. Since classic private servers have a habit of giving you all the best stuff in the game as long as you make a "donation" to keep the server running, private server spergs can't go around being gods as soon as the server opens.

I like the idea of the classic servers to poke around at pre-Cataclysm landscapes.

New stuff sounds okay. As soon as I'm able to burn some money I'll probably get back on.

I'm psyched for the new expac... Demons are starting to get really old. I only jumped into WoW at the end of Pandaria, so I'm also excited to play the old servers and see what the oldfags are all reminiscing about. I play a Troll Feral Druid atm, my Alliance main being a Worg Hunter. Altoholic with about 5 or 6 different 100-110 characters aside from my mains though.

I don't know how far the vanilla servers will get besides a niche. People have some serious rose-colored glasses of those years. They don't remember the grinding, the need for multiple gear sets, the fact that some specs just weren't viable at 60...

People on the Official forums are getting kind of annoyed because the new Void Elf race is literally a jump the shark Shadow the Hedgehog fanfiction.

They were High Elves kicked out of the Alliance who became Blood Elves, and then for practicing Void Magic, they were kicked out of the Horde, and then for some reason the Alliance let them join again. Also their skin turned dark like Drow Elves from using Void Magic.

The official forums are home to some of the whiniest people in all of creation. They'll bitch about anything.

I think the reason the Alliance let them join again is because Blizz wrote themselves into a corner with Alleria becoming a Void Queen with no consequences or something. After thirteen years of Void eating people's sanity, suddenly Void is the new Light and we gotta accommodate that shit even though Void is literally what's wrecking Azeroth. And all of a sudden, the namby-pamby "powered by happiness and sugar" Holy Light with no actual moral standards is some kind of tyrannical dictatorship that must be smashed.

And people wonder why I gave up and just play a henotheistic "heathen" paladin. Fuck this writing team, man.

I never really paid close attention to the lore and story and stuff. I figured it was probably going to be a mess anyway so I just kinda skimmed why I need to click the monster until it dies and not much else.

Even as a child I knew this game's lore was a slowly collapsing tower of garbage with a coat of paint on it.

Chris Metzen couldn't even remember what he had written for WC3 when he was working on the first WoW expansion. Some stuff regarding the Draenei, Eredar, Burning Legion, and Sargeras had to be retconned because Metzen could not be assed to reread the WC3 manual. Now there's spaceships, floating Jesus rocks, and time splits.

As retarded as the lore is I always keep up with it. I don’t know why. I can’t decide if alternate timelines or illidan being the messiah is worse really.

I’m kinda looking forward to the sub races. I thought the Nightborne were interesting and will probably play one.
Also really love the look of the new zones, besides stormheim and Argus I feel legion was pretty boring zonewise.

Saaaaame, playing Warcraft 3 as a kid I was SUPER into Azeroth as a setting, I read the (thick as shit) manual front to back in the car. Now I just kinda keep up with it out of habit.

I've been maining a Demon Hunter since legion hit because as a kid he was my fave night elf hero

lol calm down

Burned out pretty well over the last few years though, WoD was the worst addon so far, followed by Cataclysm. Cata was the first time I actually left the game for several months due to how fucking obnoxious grindy and boring it was.

I'm glad they introducing classic servers so all those nostalgiafags can finally properly remember how awful vanilla actually was.

IMO, the game peaked with WotLK and went downhill after that.
