World of Warcraft

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I reserved a Warrior named Fartbox on the Pagle server. I kinda have to play now as a matter of principle.
Haha. That's a great name. I made a toon on two servers, a Warrior named Opiophile on Mankrik, and an Undead Mage on Thalnos I think. I'm on mobile right now so I can't double check the servers.

can I run classic on a potato computer
Most likely. It's not very graphically demanding. Anything made in the last 6-7 years should run it decently. If you have a dedicated graphics card you'll be fine.

Herod or bust, every other server DoA streamer shit
I'm glad you mentioned this. I forgot to add https://www.avoidstreamers.com/ to the OP. It's super handy to see where each streamer has said they will be playing. Of course this might change, but it's still great if you want to avoid them, which I highly suggest.

You sir, are doing God's work. May the might of the (insert faction) be with you always.

I have mixed feelings about streamers. The only one I watch occasionally is Asmongold, and that's just because I used to love his YouTube content way back in the day.

However, I don't like the attitude that some of these streamers have, including Asmon. The fact that he will most likely get his server's Scarab Lord achievement, since thousands of people will try to help him, kinda ruins shit for everyone on that server. Oh well, best to avoid them.

Until you're almost ready to start raiding and Swifty switches to your server suddenly. Hopefully shit like that won't happen though

Honestly, I don't doubt asmongold will get most server/world firsts, just due to the sheer amount of manpower he has. His guild and followers will completely fuck the economy of their server (I'm expecting heavily inflated AH prices for the first few months on the server), and he will get carried by two thousand people through every piece of content (not excluding leveling).

Agreed. I like the guy, but he does seem to wield a ton of influence with his massive audience. I can't imagine playing an MMO with thousands of sycophants trampling each other to suck my dick, give me removed items and piles of gold.

Isn't there already a WoW megathread?

I'll personally try to play it (as much of a pain the subscription system is) just to see why everyone makes a big deal out of how difficult leveling supposedly was "in the olden days of vanilla".

Probably a night elf druid or human paladin - yes, I'm an Alliance pleb.

I would strongly suggest against playing a paladin my friend. That's a 1 way ticket to quitting at level 17.

If anyones playing Horde on Herod, HMU, got a pretty large group of ppl playing.

Also, if any horde players do not know about https://www.joanasworld.com/azeroth.htm I'd suggest getting familiar with it real quick.

I did see a WoW megathread, but figured it might be easier to figure out how many kiwis were actually going to play classic by making its own thread. If a mod decides it should have gone into the megathread then that's fine.

I wouldn't say that leveling up is hard in Vanilla, it's just time consuming as hell. Now doing all the shit to get prepared for raiding is hard in Vanilla. So much shit you need to buy, craft, loot, farm etc. It's gonna be great!

Don't feel bad, I am also an Alliance fag.

I was recently thinking about how sad it must be for people who preferred WoW from the earlier days not being able to play it anymore due to all the changes the game went through over the years. The nature of MMO's and online games in general is that things constantly change, and not always for the better.

Glad to see they get a chance to relive it.

For those who think vanilla is a grind retail is just as much if not worse of a grind between the time locked rep grinding and azerite necklace. People who play all day long and could play every class in Legion now only have time for one alt. It's awful and I hope classic destroys retail.

This can't be stressed enough. MMOs are frequently described as a treadmill, but the difference between Vanilla and Retail is that in Vanilla treadmill stopped between patches while in Retail the treadmill never stops.

I've been hype as shit about this, but I'm starting to feel like it would be a major mistake. 150-200+ hours just to get to 60, and then hundreds(maybe thousands) more to do everything else.

you could probably run it on a tamagotchi by now

Don't underestimate private server autists. They will get rag down within a week of launch. Asmongold has money, but he won't be leveling 16+ hours a day like these people

Absolutely. I never played Vanilla, but I know how it works and how it differs from retail. Blizzard treats us today like rats in a skinner box with retail WoW. All content is designed with that in mind. It's gotten so fucking out of control. It's literally almost impossible to achieve a BiS character in retail today. You'd have better luck flipping a coin 100 times and trying to get it to land on heads every time.

Vanilla you could actually get BiS. Yes many people never even got there because BC was coming out and they said fuck Naxx, but still. They could have if they wanted to. I'm just excited to get back to being an fucking MMO. Retail has almost zero player interaction, despite it being forced at times. I have been told to stfu more than once when I try to talk to my fellow dungeonmates. It's a sad state of affairs, but 10 minutes into the 24hr stress test and I already had people talking to me asking if I wanted to group up to kill the mobs for a quest. Shit is gonna be legit boys and girls.

I guess you have to ask yourself if playing the game, and achieving all of those things, including downing raids and getting that sweet loot is worth the time investment? To me it sounds like it would be worth it, but your situation may be different. Hope you decide to play man!

It would be a big mistake for him not to go in hard on it. And considering MC is v easy, he should be able to clear it within a two or three weeks.

ontop of that, most people who I raided with on private servers are playing on Herod, the last server any serious player wants to play on is his.

I can understand not wanting to play on the streamer server due to the amount of spergs and inflated AH, but gentlemen, there is a Dwarf Rogue named Richturpin out there doing gods work and he needs your help:

1:52 is fucking magical.

The thought of joining APES just to fuck streamers up their entitled asses on the reg is mighty tempting.

I'll definitely pay for the first month. I'm a slow leveler so I'm sure I won't accomplish much but I'll at least see if I'm having fun and decide if I want to continue. Gonna pick a druid because I was playing as one on a private server but it shut down before I could get to level 60. I'm glad that as a Europoor I'll only have to worry about avoiding only one popular streamer.
