World of Warcraft

For those who think vanilla is a grind retail is just as much if not worse of a grind between the time locked rep grinding and azerite necklace. People who play all day long and could play every class in Legion now only have time for one alt. It's awful and I hope classic destroys retail.
disingenuous claim. Time gates are artificial extensions of a grind, so its not actual time spent grinding. In vanilla, even if your playing optimally, takes between 4-10 days played to hit level cap. Then you have a large number of quests to do to get attuned and ready for raiding, during which you are going to be doing dungeons that take hours, for items that have very low drop chances. In retail, you can get 120 in maybe 2 days played at most, and then you have 4 quests a day to do that take like 5 minutes a piece. You can hope into a raid within a week of your character being made, with only a moderate amount of time spent playing. It's not the same as killing Basilisks in shimmering flats for 4 hours a level from levels 32-40.

I have a passing interest in it, but I've "been there, done that" to such an extent back when it was new that I really don't think I'd do it all again in any serious manner. If Herod is the place to be, I could see showing up on there in a very limited manner. Time will tell.

You could also use that time to level the most useful and lucrative tradeskill combo in the game! win-win!

Fuck classic leatherworking so hard.

Mulgore is probably one of the best zones from an aesthetic sense.

Just those wide open plains and cliffs which looked especially pretty at night.

Darkshore was another one where I would just ride along the coasts for hours because it was just so pretty and otherworldly Blizzard really nailed the look and feel of the starting Night Elf Areas.

The coasts off of Ashenvale also housed a bunch of interesting stuff and lesser known areas to explore.

When I was done and finally collected all possible vanity items, recipes, and cleared all the vanilla dungeons I also liked hanging around Silithus. Gave me kind of a Starship Troopers vibe.

I dont know why anyone would willingly want to play classic again after doing it one time around. I think the only good thing that might happen is the fact that you will not have *as* many bugs and youre probably not going to be passing through the world everytime you get a speedboost or charge.

And getting that 600g was a ball ache for 100% speed, you can shove that!

Ore and Herb prices were beyond low at that point, Leather was next to worthless due to everyone having it. Competing with 10 people and 5 chinks flyhack roaming every zone clearing every node was pointless.

I kind of miss OG Shimmering flats, I thought it was a real pretty subzone.

I remember my first time trying to get into ungoro and I was only level 35, I wanted to see the dinosaurs and I didn't know there was a ramp that lead down into the crater, so I strategically fell to my death.

Also sharks were rare as hell in Vanilla, so I also swam deep in the oceans to find them and to kill them just because they were there. This was also my first experience with inadvertently getting to the edge of the world.

Then there was that one time where I was in duskwood and I had no idea an actual dragon would spawn near the portal I thought the portal was for some weird long quest chain that I didn't do yet and not an area for a world boss.

There was also Vomit Mountain's entrance in non-instanced ZF in Tanaris, where you could glitch up the skybox and be taken to this weird area above 1k needles.

You could also glitch up in Deadmines and be taken to this shimmering area around the dungeon itself where you could mount up and ride.

I'll give you lads a tip since I don't plan on playing and don't need to worry about competition.

Grind the shit out of the shredders in STV in your mid to late 30s. The XP is good, but they also drop a spring that's needed for some really good engineering items. You'll get a few per hour, and they usually sell for like 5-15g a pop. There won't be any demand for them until there's actually 60s on your server, so wait until the server matures a bit before selling.

I can't think of anything else thats this profitable this early (while also giving XP). Only real downside is that it's in STV, so you'll occasionally get dicked by others catching you off guard

Old friends invite you to play classic wow with them

favorite class is shaman

friends want to play as alliance

>_>
I feel you. I had to play alliance for two expansions because my friends refused to play horde. At least t made me feel less bad about being a dickhead who griefs his own faction.

either this is gonna bring alot of "lulz" or blizz will cave in and ban these people.
I hope they keep ganking them until they leave or have a mental breakdown. I don't have anything against streamers in general but these dickheads kept talking about "no changes" and saying that they wanted to relive the vanilla experience the same as it was and then they're gonna play the game surrounded by an army of sycophants who will shower them in gold and free items. Because that's true to the vanilla experience.

i caved in and decided to join a friend. lucky for me, he knows other people who will play and we will be hoard. now i just need to think of a way too balance real life and game time. im also playing crash team racing as well and it updates every month with new content so i have to play to get enough coins and nitro to get the stuff i want.

Absolutely. I never played Vanilla, but I know how it works and how it differs from retail. Blizzard treats us today like rats in a skinner box with retail WoW. All content is designed with that in mind. It's gotten so fucking out of control. It's literally almost impossible to achieve a BiS character in retail today. You'd have better luck flipping a coin 100 times and trying to get it to land on heads every time.

Vanilla you could actually get BiS. Yes many people never even got there because BC was coming out and they said fuck Naxx, but still. They could have if they wanted to. I'm just excited to get back to being an fucking MMO. Retail has almost zero player interaction, despite it being forced at times. I have been told to stfu more than once when I try to talk to my fellow dungeonmates. It's a sad state of affairs, but 10 minutes into the 24hr stress test and I already had people talking to me asking if I wanted to group up to kill the mobs for a quest. Shit is gonna be legit boys and girls.

I guess you have to ask yourself if playing the game, and achieving all of those things, including downing raids and getting that sweet loot is worth the time investment? To me it sounds like it would be worth it, but your situation may be different. Hope you decide to play man!
I'm excited for the same reasons you are. People complaining about the "grind" are missing what classic was really about. Very hyped to play. You on EU or NA?

Grinding in dungeons is good if you don't to be ganked while starting in a zone that has both an alliance and horde questing hub and if you want to get good gear.

Had lots of trouble deciding if I'd rather roll my Fury Warrior or Subtlety Rogue as my main, though I'm going Rogue because I'm less likely to be picked for tanking when it turns out the actual tank is retarded.

I totally agree. Unfortunately I much prefer the grind of Vanilla than the bullshit skinner box that is retail. I play on NA. I'm guessing you are EU?

I have a toon on Herod, but it's full. I have 2 more toons on two other servers. PM me if anyone wants to know which.

Blizz is going to need more servers. We still have 10 days to go and half of them are full already. I'm sure a good percentage of them will play a while and quit forever, but those first few weeks might be rough without more servers.
