World of Warcraft

I'm more excited to see the streamer servers crash and burn than I am to actually play the game.

>first hour of asmongoloids stream is spent waiting in queue
>he finally logs in
>30k paypiggies begin spamming trade, gen, and defense chat with "INV TO ASMON LAYER" non stop
>ppl unaware they accidentally rolled on the most cancerous realm ever created logout and roll new characters on a different realm
>guilds are in complete disarray over which new realm to choose
>herod, le reddit server, gets even more over populated, increasing queue times further
>meanwhile i hit lvl 10, kill hogger, get my green dagger, and set out for darkshore with my guildies because we were smart enough to choose a newer server.
>go afk for 30 minutes after 12 hours of grinding and stuffing my face to take a massive shit
>get dc'd
>try to log back in only to get stuck in an hour long queue
>feel the irony of my previous smug comments wash over me

Gonna take a dive as ive got some spare time over the next few months and roll a Priest for some PVP on Gehennas.

Gonna be interesting to see how different Classic will be to Vanilla.

From Blizz's AMA:

Q: What exactly are the pop caps for a layer? And extrapolating from that, what are the server pop thresholds roughly indicating (what makes a server low vs medium vs high?)
A: We’re not releasing specific numbers, that will likely change dramatically. Based on the response we got from name reservations, we’re anticipating large player populations for some realms initially. This may change as players switch to lower population realms. We’ll use layers to help improve performance in the short-term if large groups of players cluster in an area. We hope to reduce the use of layering over time as people spread out in each realm.

The dirty little secret that I'm sure Blizzard doesn't want to talk about is that the servers just can't handle very large populations. Anyone who has joined a Battle for Nazjatar raid can tell you what happens when you get more 100 players in the same zone at the same time. Normally, though, when I quest in Nazjatar or Mechagon (the NEW zones), there are maybe a half dozen people from my realm. However, most of the players I come across are from the larger battlegroup (disconnected realms from the same server cluster).

I would love to see Blizzard's internal numbers, but I know that's never, ever going to happen.

All the worst posters seem to be playing alliance

I can't wait for this launch to go well so you can all stop posting here

And here I am sitting on my own private server, running off of hardware and software that I own, all self contained on a LAN server. All my stats are 999999999, I have GM mode enabled, I have Thunderfury and the flowering bow equipped, my pet is the Rare Blue Gorilla, and I switch every few minutes from my Black Scarab mount to my ZG Tiger, to my ZG Raptor, to my Wintersaber, to my Deathcharger tailed by my Blue Maccaw, and I can go places in the game where mortals can only dream of.

Soloing with max stats means you can do all the raid dungeons in under and hour with travel time included.

My bank is filled with all faction mounts including the OG vanilla unarmored epic mounts and every tier of class armor for myself.

Honestly I find breaking the game to such a large extent fun, because now the world no longer hides any secrets from me. I did the same thing in Skyrim with collecting all the unique horses and weapons. I also did all non-radiant quests. So now I ride around enjoying the scenery, knowing that I've brute forced it all.

And the servers aren't even open yet.

Yeah, everyone should be logged into their character screen by now, or, you might not be playing tonight

blast from the fucking past. used too think he was gonna end up being a school shooter at some point. wonder how life went for him.

edit. wow, he made more videos over the recent years. he seems to have become a crazy basement dweller.

Got in as soon as I could and everyone swarmed the newbie area. Incredibly laggy, but that's to be expected, and I crashed so I suppose I'll wait a while and do some important shit in the meantime.

over 1 mill people watching streamers being stuck in queue or grinding boars

Not surprised at all that servers crashed. same thing actually happened with Lineage 2 Servers when they re-released theire "classic" C2 Server.

This simultaneously sucks ass and is fun at the same time

I can't even remember a time on Modern WoW in the most recent several expansions that I've ever seen such mass interest

Only 290 minutes to go on the RPPVP server!

I had a major itch to play over the past few weeks. Now that I've seen the year long queues, DC's and groups of 5-10 people spawn camping a single mob, I feel a bit relieved.

Must feel amazing to be one of the few people that pulled ahead of the pack early
