Worst RPG members ever

Heck, with hard mode bonuses (if they exist) your standard helper paladin is actually one of your most important units, a Seth or a Perceval can be terrifying.

I'll counter you with most of the royals from Fire Emblem: Fates or...just most of the child units from Awakening, for broken characters.

Wait, the early kidnapping one, or the later on bird-shaped one?

If it's the former then wait until later.
Bird I think?? I’m in the windmill town if that helps

I actually used Haru in the late game since the gun skills are fantastic for damage dealing.
Which is EXACTLY what she's perfect for! I admit to not really using her on my first playthrough but when I did Royal, she was such a regular fixture on my team in the late game that I was surprised that I mostly ignored her the first time. Snipe + Cripple + Accessory w/ Gun Amp + One-Shot Kill makes her such a beast and it feels like there's fewer enemies that resist Gun than Physical.

Oh, and she learns Heat Riser. Girl is just a cannon. But hey, if that fails, at least she has Tentarafoo to help set up her (or your own) Psy spells.

Final Fantasy VIII had exactly six party members, and three of them (Squall, Rinoa, and Selphie) were always on my shit list. Hell, I wouldn't have taken Squall to the final dungeon if the game didn't make me. A big part of the problem is the RNG for their limit breaks, meaning that you're incentivized to (in Squall and Rinoa's case at least) deliberately not upgrade them in order to maximize the chances of them rolling the good shit once you get it. Selphie, even with aura+menu refresh cheese, just can't be relied on to produce a worthwhile effect in less time than it takes any serious opposition to murder you. Irvine gets a dishonorable mention because of his resource-consuming limit, but it's reliable damage which is more than I can say for, say, Fated Circle.

Zell and Quistis are the best, IMO, because they produce reliable effects when you need them- and Quistis is absolutely vital for power leveling in Heaven and Hell via Degenerator. Blue Magic is underwhelming in a lot of Final Fantasy games here, but when you can learn it from items here and pick up spells like Degenerator, Mighty Guard, and White Wind early on in the game, she's basically got a unique spell selection that you don't need to actually stockpile.

If you're exploiting the card game (as you should when playing FFVIII) getting all those Blue Magic spells doesn't take very long. Quistis has a pretty decent period of being the most likable character for me until she fucking nearly blows a mission for the sake of Rinoa's fee-fees.

Which kind of gets into why I hate Rinoa so much in this game. Like Sera from Dragon Age: Inquisition, she's a stupid, spoiled brat and, when called on it, the game dumps on you for being such an awful meanie to the pretty princess. The game just forces her relationship with Squall on you despite neither of them having any reason to "fall in love" with one another. I tend to hate characters that you can feel the author is doing everything in their power to force you to like them and I think Rinoa is the first character I felt that with.

So who’s my healer then?

In the meantime? Rand.

Actually. looking in on it, Bow's not gone as long as I remembered him being gone for, so it might not be as bad as I made it out. It's been awhile since I played.

So imagine, I'm playing a super-nice neutral good character. I find that rusty undead asshole for the first time so of course I must recruit him. Bye, Ignus, I guess, I'm a mage so we should be good. So first I want to explore dialog options with our new guy and that asshole randomly attacks me or party members when I ask him for judgement. Fine, don't want to talk you can be the silent type. We move along, do the Wastes and Baator and find ourselves in the Carceri. As a neutral good fella I help whoever I can and move to beat the fallen angel responsible for the mess. We fight, Trias yields and of course I try to talk him into fixing himself and looking for forgiveness. We have a long dispute, Trias sees my point and is ready to go home to face judgement... And right then that rusty fucking undead asshole interrupts the dialog and kills him!
Ever since then I can't resist convincing him that justice is meaningless, his life was meaningless, his undeath is meaningless and he should drop dead, which he promptly does :)

So Diagaea 6 did very bad in Japan. The Units are all shit and people were saying that the 60 dollars worth of DLC coming is what's holding the good characters.

So the first DLC gets revealed and it's E-Celebs as Disgaea units. If you want to play this SRPG you now need an e-celeb unit in your party because they're the only ones that are actually good and have useful abilities.

Oh and the best news is this, there's more of these fucking tie-ins coming. They're going full branded shit for the DLC. This is only stage 1.

I knew the mobile game lost them a shit-ton of money, but damn.

I should point out that the "E-celebs as Disgaea units" is overstating it. They're just palette-swaps of existing models with unique voices and different abilities.

The only good units in the game, people. And this shit costs real fucking money. The HoloLive palette swap bundle is actually free, I'm fucking retarded. The ones that cost money are returning characters from the previous games, except now they need to make new models for them.

I really liked Disgaea 4 and 5 was not as but still pretty good. NIS really had a Bioware tier fall from grace in the last two years.

I'm retarded, actually. The HoloLive bundle is free, as is recurring character Asagi. Three returning characters from the previous games (which now need new models because the game switched artstyle) cost $6 each.

Still the only good units in the game, though. Should the HoloLive copyright deal expire or the PS4 and Switch servers shut down many years into the future, people will be shit outta luck.

And this is why Lawful Neutral sucks.

NISA made more from the Limtied Exclusivity Falcom deals than whatever games NIS put out by themselves.

They're rumored to be making a quasi-sequel to The Liar Princess and the Blind prince, but that game was real short even if you were to 100% it.
