It makes even less sense if you think about it, because why would the ipad allow him to login to the account? Presumably, all it would have is the autologin information saved, it's not like the information would magically update itself with the account's new password. So, either the totally real person who bought the account didn't change the password, in which case DSP could attempt to login from any device and it doesn't matter whether it was an ipad or not, or the password was changed and it makes no sense to try resurrecting the ipad.

It was an already flimsy and unbelievable lie, but by trying to add details to legitimize it, Phil just presented further proof that he doesn't understand how selling an account works.

I don't think it's taxes related, in no small part because Phil doesn't have that kind of foresight. If it happened like, a week before taxes were due, maybe. I think this is just Phil finally realizing he can actually play a game he enjoys on stream without giving detractors a win because he really thinks he's fooled people with his lie about selling the account.

I mentioned it in the main thread, but he picked the worse possible way to try and capitalize on Champions. We've seen in real time pretty much everything he makes in tips goes right into the new account on stream, so he's already not making much money when the stream ends. But because it isn't even his main account, he's presumably spending just as much once the stream ends on DownFromTheRaftors, so he's basically taking two financial hits.
 
I believe Joon was asked during his interview with Agent Proper if he thinks that DSP did sell the account, and he was not really sure, which is fine for attempting to be skeptical.

However, leaving aside the notion that he sold it (he didn't), that's irrelevant due to the fact that he still spent a small fortune on it, acquired in great part by scamming his audience.

But humoring it, he mentioned the login streak as a selling point. As far as I remember from the game, at least years ago, a continuous login streak is only valuable for every month, meaning, if you lose one login day it's not the end of the world, you won't get the super high reward (the last one) for this month, but you can on the next one, so breaking a year long streak is irrelevant and it cannot realistically be used as a selling point, because they reset every month.

Consider this as an analogy: imagine you yourself had an account in a game. You've spent far more than 40K by that point in it, thousands of $ in skins, resources, VIP levels, and even gotten limited-offer deals for new characters, now inaccessible.

So what do you do next? You throw it all away down the drain. You go to a shady website where you contact a random person in order to sell your 40K account for a couple of Benjamins, in hopes that this rando doesn't hack you, and that Scopely itself doesn't ban you, just so that you can start a new, from level 1, on another account.

Think about that, how likely it is for DSP (or anyone) to do that.

I also want to mention the "protect my family" defense he had, which has been reduced to ridicule, look at this:

His example to strengthen the argument involves detractors getting to know sensitive information so that they can use it to cause trouble. In Champions' case, that would be the name of the account, which would then be used to find other accounts in order to hack them or do other malicious stuff. It's his main point, and it revolves under the idea that the moniker is unknown to everyone.

This video was posted in mid January 2020, way before the first name change and so it being TheyCallMeDSP, moniker already known by detractors and therefore not being a risk to show and compromise other accounts.

So there's no "protecting my family", there was no risk, everyone already knew the name, there was no sensitive information, which gives insight to his MO.

That is, being a complete & shameless liar. If he thinks he can get away with it, or even if he's not sure at all, he could very well try to deceive everyone (poorly), there are no restraints.

I mean I get that this is kiwi farms and this is the DSP subforum but since DSP admitted to lying this entire time, and his "answer" to lying was that he sold the account and started a new one is not only completely unbelievable because it makes no sense, but also because he's a liar.

There's literally no point in even entertaining his new lie, because as interesting as it may be it just entertains his lies even more. At this point with the way this entire thing has played out his word is basically worth zero and is actually a negative at this point in time. I think the Side Scrollers and Joon can both see it too, no one reasonable will want to talk to him ever again after this and the only people that will do so will do it just to take advantage of him and make fun of him directly to his face.

Yeah that much is pretty clear, and I guess there's no reasonable doubt that he has most probably extensively lied to his family and probably also even khet. I honestly never expected him to admit to the account being his, and I most certainly never expected him to just try to brush off the fact he lied about it for years and mislead so many people about his finances like its some small issue.

Agree, I just wanted to post this as some added observation that came to my mind.

I truly believe that he actually enjoys telling lies, where it can make him happy to some degree, or at least amuse him, akin to creating a spectacle, show or theatrics in wrestling.

That's because there was something I and some other person noticed some years ago (thanks to them by the way), on a very specific thing when the Champions stuff was developing, which is tangential. Unfortunately, if it ever comes to light it will have to be by their hand as that was the original & accorded intention.

But that was surreal and uncanny, to see him enjoy some unnecessary theatrics he designed, with a big grin on his face. This man does enjoy lying, or at least can, easily.

I guess I wanted to share this, or what I can from it in my good faith, it's only my unsupported word. There's nothing more for me to add on here, good conclusion for Champions I'd say.

I know it's been well established that DSP is a moron but holy shit Phil. You were already willing to spend hundreds of dollars in this "low level shit" on a new account, I guarantee that you'd also be willing to spend your entire DFTR bankroll a second time. They know gachafiends like you cannot help but to spend money.
