Bobby’s not gay though. They can throw the gay blanket over him and try their hardest but he’s not. At best he’s bi. They tried to do the same thing to beast and it didn’t work. Bobby is Bobby. He’s not even written gay in current comics, he’s just “experimental Bobby”.
My boy and all time favorite hero Alan Scott is being hit with the gay stick hard. They aren’t doing that to Bobby
That's somewhat my point. To try and shoehorn Bobby as gay was not only stupid but a failure. Tim Drake was an easier sell and I literally FUCKING HATE that revelation. Iceman is a ladies man.

I'd say that while I'm not thrilled about the Alan Scott gay revelation, at least they built it much better. That it was a slow burn for him to agonize and eventually tell his kids. That there's an acknowledgement that in his original era he'd be dragged behind a truck, etc. There were stakes and established reasons. Regardless of whether or not I want the character to be gay, they took the time to slowly weave it in much more organically and sanely.

I agree with how you are presenting the idea but hard disagree on how they handled the Alan Scott situation. One of his defining characteristics was him and obsidian dealing with his homophobiea and it made him a deeper and more interesting person. Making him a closet gay did nothing for his character. I say this as a huge golden age and jsa fan who has no problem with retcons

I won't argue that the Alan Scott turn was perfect, it wasn't. I suppose my point was that when they did it, it seemed at least a bit more considered and they spent time building the character toward their goal (which is still a sin) than what they did to modern characters like Iceman of Tim Drake.

They know it's not a popular opinion that Bobby is gay and I think they're trying to just not mentioning it any more aside from just saying it. They just can't completely retconing it because it's a delicate topic for their snowflake audience, but they dug this grave, now they have to lie in it.

Iceman is a ladies man.
Him being so is ironically one of the reasons people assume wrongly he is gay. His reasons for it it's a feeling of inadequacy caused by his father's impossible standards. When you're never good enough, then no woman is either. Thinking that this is evidence of homosexuality is just pure autism.

Alan has zero foreshadowing for being gay and there were multiple writers who explicitly wrote him as a hypocrite who for all his big talk about being a Bernie Sanders type socialist, didn't like fags and actively avoided his gay son.

Mainline Alan only became gay because Jim Lee was pissy as fuck that New 52 and his crack SM/WW shop got rejected and erased by DC and he used his editor power to ramrod Alan being gay in the mainline to spite fans, culminating in Geoff infamously refusing to fight it and doing some equally beyond the pale shit to rationalize Lee's edict that Alan has to be always gay, by claiming that Alan was only straight because the guy that turned him gay was removed from the timeline.

Bendis turned Bobby gay and while he accidentally left open the door to erase it via Jean mindraping him, no one but especially not Brevoort will ever undo it because it would piss Bendis off and Brevoort is probably drunk dialing Bendis every night these days begging him to come back to Marvel.

Also the only "proof Bobby was gay" was Emma being a homophobic cunt accusing Bobby of being gay to slur him. Bendis bullied a good bu bet of writers into recanting their works to prop up Bendis's character assassination with Chuck Austin as the only guy to tell Bendis to eat shit with his bullying

And I'm shuddering for the day they retcons Maddie Pryor as being Teen Jean, who secretly backed up her kind and how it ended up inside Sinister's clone to further dehumanize Maddie for being more popular than Jean at this point. Especially since Brevoort is a Jean Grey apologist who recently admitted commissioning a back up story in that God awful Kamala Khan time travels to be involved in all major X-Men moments mini, which is set to hard retcon the entire Jean/Scott relationship to make them soul mates and implying that he made some explicit retcons that will piss off the Maddie and Emma fanboys.

One of my favorite running gags in the Claremont run is Rogue's costume getting wrecked every single fight because she just flies into everything with her Captain Marvel tard powers. Also her "costume" is actually just a black catsuit with whatever 80s clothes she had that day slapped on.
Good to see that some traditions are kept at least.
Then Gambit showed up and she was walking around with basically no clothes as a civilian. She was like "some of you might end up in a coma, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make".
