Xbox Game Studios Stupidity Hate Thread Game Pass Edition

Hi Fi Rush didn't look "bad", but a lot of the praise I saw for it came from game journos which makes me think it was either gay as fuck or they were paid off.
A lot of the praise surrounding Hi-Fi Rush is because it looks and feels like a Dreamcast game. It's colorful and upbeat.

I thought it was just okay. You're intended to do a lot of things to the beat of the background music, which gets really exhausting when you consider how the levels are extremely long with no real stopping points. Though you can abruptly quit in the middle of a level and let it autosave. I'd be happy to call the game good if the levels were just half their length.

That's the biggest problem with Microsoft right now. It feels like they make games for like 150 people on a specific fucking subreddit.
Isn't that literally the story of that one Fast & Furious game? Some studio executives saw a handful of noisy retards on Twitter and said "Yep, this is what the people want", so they were forced to make a game with a non-binary tranny and it flopped. I am 100% certain Redfall is the same way.

I don't think Sony or Microsoft understand their own business strategies anymore, either. The console market has destabilized on multiple fronts and it's going to be extremely difficult to predict how things shake out over the next 5-10 years.
Feels like just one gigantic war against ever-tightening DEI standards and anyone sane trying to keep one foot planted in reality when that meal ticket finally dries up.

Oh and surprise surprise, it sounds like Perfect Dark is in a disaster state as well. I'll be surprised if it even releases.
They may as well cancel it. Its been long enough to where Perfect Dark only has name recognition amongst the 30+ crowd, and I'm sure nobody wants whatever travesty a new one would inevitably be.

At this point I think I would be more excited for additional Xbox division email leaks than any new games from the majority of these studios. Does anyone really give a shit about stuff like Avowed? It was so bland I had to look up the name again just for this post.
I feel the same way. Also, I have never heard of Avowed.

How's Hellblade 2 doing, you ask?
Hellblade 2 flopped? But I thought it was super heckin' important because that series shines a light on realistic schizophrenia that the protagonist has to fight against! Clearly gamers are ableist nazi assholes to let such a wonderful game flop.

I think you nailed one of my problems with the game that I couldn't put into words. It's not a bad game per say, I just think that it could have benefitted by splitting the levels into smaller chunks.

My other problem was that the endgame stuff felt lazily tacked on. Repeat the levels verbatim, but now look for the red doors and do special challenges. I can't remember what the arcade machine does, it's really that uninteresting.

I just looked at some gameplay footage on Youtube and it seems to be exactly the same as the first game.

Hellblade 1 lived and died by the novelty of the schizophrenia gimmick and that had worn thin by the end of that short game. I can't believe anyone thought a sequel was a good idea.

I forgot that Hellblade wasn't even on Xbox until they basically purchased them. (like a month before the purchase)

Of course this shit bombed. That game got all it's press from movie game loving PS4 owning faggots.

The theory that Microsoft bought Hellblade hoping it'd steal away moviefag gamers from Sony, only to then stop giving a shit about consoles in the time it took them to make a game making their entire acquisition pointless is great.

I was loosely interested in it back in 2017 when I had much more of a tolerance for faggotry, but what stopped me from buying it was the gimmick where the more you died, the more some corruption on the protagonists arm would eat her, and it'd eventually wipe your save and you'd have to start a new game.

Turned out to not even be true, lmao. Now it's years and years later, and I've seen enough real schizophrenia from just being online.

Honestly, it is all Ninja Theory 's fault. If they hadn 't made their indie hit a graphicaly intensive, slow to develop and expensive to make game, they would not be sackled to such a hard dev cycle. The Hellblade I.P. is all they have and its game is make or break due to development costs

I liked hi-fi rush it felt like playing an old game i had as a kid. Sucks it wont get a second game but maybe its better that way they could of easily fucked it up and made some trash continuation that couldn't stand up to the first one.

I'm so glad Hellblade 2 is doing badly. I hope it convinces more companies to stop making these "cinematic" games that I can't stand.
i mean the cinematic type games have their niche, so they arent going away any time soon, but maybe dont drop millions of dollars upon them just trying to make the game look super realistic or something? artists did pour their hearts out working on this thing tho, so i hope they do well enough

Only 2 weeks after release, and it's down to 200 players on Steam. There are 500 viewers on Twitch, which means the big steamers aren't touching it.

Owner estimates are in the 70k-80k range which is sad for a game that took 5 years and how many millions to develop.

It's ranked 1250 on games being played:

I see why Sony and Microsoft are committing suicide now

Do you think people 1200 years ago gave half a shit about any of the naval-gazey mental disorders? I have to assume worrying about the next meal was more important.
They actually did! The Odyssey is basicaly an alegory for PTSD. Men who fought in a war cannot find their way back to a peaceful life. Difference is Hellblade is no Odyssey.

Schizophrenia is without a doubt the most outwardly dramatic and least "navel-gazey" mental disorder. Having visual and auditory hallucinations is the kind of shit that would make people think you had magical powers or were possessed by a demon.

Here's one example. Have you heard of Candy Crush Saga? Free to play match 3 puzzle game with invasive monetization to progress. If we take King's word for it, despite 4% of players paying for microtransactions, that generates them millions of monthly revenue from that alone. Somehow, they are STILL able to occur regular downloads.
They sell user data to marketers and say the revenue is earned through MTX.
I think a lot of "how does this game make so much money?" games, make their money through selling data to marketing companies/advert companies.

Part of the whole 'daily challenges' game design of mobile games is to get users to turn their phone and connect to the spyware and adware servers once a day. It's just a way to entice users to user their phone every day and keep it on constantly. Even things like just seeing how many users meet the daily requirements can be used by their research teams. This is why so many search engines and social media only promote 'new' content and make old content impossible to find. Forces user interactivity because of the fear of missing out on something. As once something becomes old on the newly designed internet it becomes difficult to find and users have already moved onto the next big thing by design.

The entire game ecosystem and really almost anything online now is designed like a casino or a shopping mall. Meant to get your eyes on various products or ears listening to some advertisements. While simultaneously tracking your every move and purchase and trying to use your purchase patterns to isolate you into a spending pattern.

5-6 hours is indeed a short runtime for a game, but very long for a movie. That's about the length of a lot of trilogies. If you're gonna do a game that's essentially a single movie, you shouldn't be surprised if it doesn't have enough content to justify such a long runtime.
The weirdest thing was seeing the comments on the Facebook post that recommended this to me.

Lots of "Well, I'm too busy to play this game but it's still a masterpiece!"

Fucking retards are making billion dollar movie games for retards that can barely get through a 90 minute Marvel film.

Maybe they should have made the game, split it into 4 chapters, and sold it at £9.99 (wow such value, much cheap!) so that the retards could have gotten through it. Or maybe the game is just shit.
