Xbox Game Studios Stupidity Hate Thread Game Pass Edition

I liked Sunset Overdrive. I hate how it's in limbo now between Insomniac, MS and Sony. MS owns the publishing rights; Insomniac owns the IP. Perhaps if Sunset Overdrive had more marketing and released a year later, it COULD'VE been a great mascot for the Xbox brand regarding creativity, expression and interactivity in a video game environment.

Reminds me, I should play it again.
what we need is a good ol fashioned knock off game a la bomb rush cyberfunk to fill the niche

Gaming GOD, Phil Spender, makes the brilliant decision to let the highly talented Moon Studios (creators of Ori) go. Why would they just get rid of one of their few remaining studios that can produce successful titles for Xbox and the Goy Pass? Well, they did a racism. The Xbros are NOT happy.
I still remember several months ago, the CEO of Moon Studio is not happy with Xbox's exclusivity on Ori, even though both [games] are ported to Switch, and released on Windows.

I was like, WHAT? Moon were the dev and got paid to develop the game. The game is great. Moon got fame and money. MS got a beautiful game. Everyone is happy. What's the CEO's point?

Since then I don't hold any hope for the Studio.
FUCK THEM! Their punishment will be total freedom from Microsoft's clutches. Surely they will never be able to make a good game again without Microsoft's involvement.

Uhhhhhhhhh... Xbros, how do we convince them to come back?

Reportedly, it was an "oppressive" studio with crunch culture, verbal abuse and harassment.

They literally acquired them along with MDHR and Ninja Theory.
I'm pretty sure you're mistaken.

I remember indie fags and journos making a big deal that Moon refused offers to be bought out by Microsoft, specifically.

This was back in like 2021 I think that they announced they would make multiplatform games.

Maybe you're right. Still, the point remains that their partnership is over.
But that's what I'm saying I don't get.

I thought they cut ties with each other over two years ago, which is why their new game is multiplatform.

Is Xbox just making some grand performative gesture or are they not going to allow their new game on Xbox or what?

microsoft goes sega 1.pngmicrosoft goes sega 2.png

They gave up completely.

Speaking of which, We Happy Few will be added to Game Pass this month.
its been on there for awhile, maybe they took it off for awhile but i distinctly remember it being on gamepass, when i had it.
They gave up completely.
it was always a stupid idea, it would be one thing if you got new games a year and a half out or even 9 months out but being able to play a AAA title for nearly free on launch was always a bad business model. The reason it works for netflix is it was the only game in town and they release a ton of bullshit, a new tv show season or movie every day, plus a massive backcatelog so you could scroll endlessly and still find something you could enjoy. The reason i didn't particularly enjoy it when i got a free trial with some computer part i brought is because it was mostly indie shit or old microsoft crap and you might have one legit new game a month if you're lucky. It didn't take much time at all to see their entire offerings and it was shit most of the time. Having the chance to play 100 different FPS single player campaigns from the 2000s isn't much of a selling point for me.

At least with Epic games, fortnite and fall guys and rocket league and all the other games they have which you can play for free all have content updates and new shit coming out. with microsoft you're paying so you can play maybe a half dozen games you'd actually enjoy and a lot of bullshit. They have all these studios and forcing them to do huge games that take years to make, whereas they should have forced them back to their roots, have indie sized games from big studios, have Rare crank out a new banjo every year, even if its literally N64 sized, people would still like them. even the leaked emails show them panicking about their lack of output.

Its even worse because stadia and gamefly and a fuck load of other companies have tried the same shit and it never fucking worked. Somehow microsoft thought they could do it. the vast majority of their catalog are games that were released over 5 years ago and what shit that was released in the last 5 years has been dogshit like halo infinite or redfall that was dead on arrival. the fact that sea of thieves is still their flagship game should be worrying.

But isn't Bethesda a Microsoft property?
Yeah, but Microsoft has been wishy washy about if they'll keep their games exclusive or not from the start IIRC.

It's part of the reason so many are sure they don't give a shit about console sales anymore. I'd also say that after Starfield they're probably going to do timed exclusivity at the very most, and they're definitely not doing it with the likes of Call of Duty.
