I don't think it takes much to convince microshills though. After all these people are shilling one of the worst (if not the worst) companies on planet Earth, Microsoft.
people seem to forget we're still near the beginning of this gen, the mid-era refreshes haven't even been released yet. And they were already planning on vanishing if gamepass didn't work out in 2027. I have a hard time believing they'll do more than just constant refreshes and do away with the idea of generations altogether
They tried with Sea of Thieves, lol. I don't know much about that game, but I think it launched in a terrible state and got updates over the years, but nothing substantial enough to matter.
No we aren't, we're over three years in. Even No Games PS3 had some heavy hitters by early 2010.
To be fair, Spencer was coming after the walking disaster that was Don Mattrick, so all he had to do was not shit the bed, and he would have been loved.

It wasn't Don Mattrick's fault. It was Microsoft that wanted to expand the Xbox to become multimedia because they wanted to expand the Xbox. The Kinect was a surveillance camera. The sad part is that it would've worked if their game output didn't go to shit (after Phil was put in charge).
Don may not be the only person at fault for Microsoft's screw ups during that period, or even the main culprit, but he's fully on the hook for his own statements and the piss pour job Microsoft did in selling it to people. That was all him. And his further screw ups when he became CEO of Zynga only prove that he was always an incompetent moron.
Spencer signed off on the idea. He was Mattricks' boss, and, for all the hate I have for Don, he had a vision, it was a terrible one, but he made it happen.

Come up with a script to sell this dystopian technology to a crowd of gamers. Microsoft wants you to memorize the script and read it live in less than a week. Good luck.
Nintendo could literally afford a console flop with their goodwill and tenure in the gaming industry. I'm talking about the Wii U and the GameCube. I think the Xbox One outsold the Wii U, but they weren't directly competing then.
