Xbox Thread (Like/Hate) - Mainly focusing on the lackluster exclusives, weak points, or strong points of Xbox consoles

Stuff being delisted doesn't men it isn't accessible though, so it isn't like it isn't/can't be preserved.
Let me rephrase myself. When I say "accessible," I meant not having games being "lost" because they were delisted or its respective marketplace being closed.

I feel like a lot of 360 owners never bought the newer consoles. I never did. I always meant to fill out my digital library, but the pricing always sucked. I got Saints Row for two bucks, but everything else seems to start at $10.

I could see shutting down the 360 market as an attempt to get people to upgrade, but they won't.

I sincerely think nothing from the 360 will end up lost. Nevermind the EoL delisting spree, some of the earliest XBLA games were delisted ages ago. Game archivists are so dedicated that even exotic stuff like the Goldeneye 007 remake prototype managed to surface, let alone crazy rare things for other consoles, like that McDonalds training cart for DS or the SimCity prototype for NES.

They made the Xbox One about as unappealing as possible when it was new, which torpedoed every last bit of goodwill they built with the 360. They never earned it back, either. Though I'm sure a lot of Series Ss were sold entirely because it was the only new home console you could get for a long time. The very first time I even saw a Series X in-store was about a year ago now, that being two years after launch. And I didn't even see any kind of PS5 until this past Spring.

I meant that I wanted to give them money, and they priced the digital entries unattractively. They're not going to force a migrate by discontinuing the 360 marketplace, they're just going to continue not to get money from me.

I never pulled the trigger on ecco the dolphin on 360 because I didn't like how Sonic 2 "felt" on the 360 pad.

Was it unplayable? Or just took some getting used to? Matter of fact, I remember the Genesis controller having a similar D-Pad.

There is now zero justification for owning an Xbox console or paying for Xbox live. Free games for Xbox gold are one of the few things you can justify buying an Xbox one for. Halo infinite and Gears 5 sure as hell aren't.

Also for anyone who has game cards, for the 360, I don't know why you'd hook them back up, but those cards are going to be invalidated in 2024, so get on that shit.

Most of the games I would have wanted to buy digital for 360 are already removed from the 360 store, the rest are overpriced. Still debating dropping the two bux for ecco.

Advise me pls gamerz
I had a 360 and loved it and owned a ton of games. Even replaced it after the BGA soldering red ring of death struck.
I then “upgraded” to an Xbone S. find the interface to be dogshit, the games unappealing, but wanted to keep playing with friends occasionally (and I pay for gamepass to do that).

Now I discover the latest game (Forza) doesn’t work on my Xbone S. what do? Buy a series S or X? I just don’t feel like I got my moneys worth out of this one.

OR, build a PC that is at least as good as a series S. How much would that cost? Where do I start?

you could ask over in the tech forum, but you'll probably get different answers for that. what's your TV? because that will mostly decide which GPU you probably want, rest goes from there.
also no idea how good/bad gamepass is on PC, and crossplay to play with your friends probably depends on game. but it's an open platform, so you'll get a lot more stuff cheaper (or free if you sail the high seas).

Building a PC on the level of a Series S is going to cost you around 600 minimum unless you go with used parts. If you have a copy of Windows 10 or 11 lying around and don't have to buy that you could knock off about 100 bucks. (this is a rock bottom PC as well, I wouldn't expect it to run *everything* at 60fps smooth even at 1080p).

Personally, the PC build I'd recommend would be closer to 700-850 dollars.

So you kinda have to ask yourself if you're going to take advantage of a PC enough to offset the extra 300-350 bucks if you had just bought a Series S.

Thanks guys. Do you know what, I tried the cloud play option and it actually works, so I’ll probably just stick with that for now since it won’t cost me anything extra.

I guess that’s a strong point of Xbox?!
If it's working well enough, yeah, I'd go with that.

Depending on your budget and how important 4k is to you, I would recommend PC.

Gamepass PC is better than console Gamepass and PC comes with mods, which are just ace. Annoying aspect in a game? there's a mod for that. Want more characters? There's a mod for that. Wish you could run around the wasteland with an army of companions? There's a mod for that.

I tried rebooting my Xbox 360 today and couldn’t get connected to the network of my house. It’s been years since I used it, and I likely have to reconfigure the network, but don’t really feel like doing so. Ergo, I’m returning to my Xbox One for the moment, but will likely delve back into using Steam. I feel like I’m at an impasse as far as what to do.

I’m used to having a console and having a tangible disc. Downloading a game, even if it is more environmentally efficient, still runs me the wrong way. Maybe I’m ‘tarded (I am), but I feel like that could be wiped at any time. A tangible item is mine and can’t be jacked.

I may just revert back to my Super Nintendo and siphon off of my friends’ accounts, once I reconnect to those in the 3D realm. I’m fucking tired of the world becoming more complicated.

Suggestions and guidance regarding reconnecting my Xbox 360 would be appreciated. I was trying to get it up and running so I could play L.A. Noire again. I could play it, but don’t want to do it and then not have my gameplay saved. I’m not as technologically savvy as others in the Farms.

It would take like three minutes to connect your 360 to wifi + a potential system update. 360 save data is all local (with the option of using cloud saves) so you don’t have to worry about that. As for downloaded games, I don’t want to just say “get with the times, grandpa” because there are genuine concerns, but they’re extremely rare and are no cause for concern 99.999% of the time. The only example of digital purchases being taken away that I’ve ever gone through is for some old iPhone apps.
