Xbox Thread (Like/Hate) - Mainly focusing on the lackluster exclusives, weak points, or strong points of Xbox consoles

Halo is dead, its been unironic gaylo since 4, so what else then?
It's so fucking retarded. The latest season of Halo was decent actually, but Microsoft seems way too focused on buying studios that they are using no money on marketing or anything else. Back when Halo Infinite first came out, Xbox was in a strong position. Sure, the game was not well received on its entirety but Xbox outsold PS5 that November. They just decided to shit the bed and try to bury Halo instead of working publicly to fix the perception.

So is there a reason to own an xbox anymore? with the activision deal falling off theres not gonna be any exclusives and even if it goes thru those games will be on pc too, just not on the ps5
Funny enough, the Series S is a really good emulation machine from what I've heard.

Other than that? Nah. Both consoles only seem to be worth it if you're a nigger, child or movie fag.

I hate to be like this, but I feel vindicated. I thought Redfall looked like complete shit from the start and didn't understand why Microsoft was pushing so much hype behind it. I had a few people argue me on it (not here luckily), and figured I'm just an old man.
From start to finish my reaction has been(since announcement and I haven't followed it closely):

At first: ugh, it's a left4dead/evolve/back4blood

Some time ago: oh, it's not, it's supposedly an Arkane game with optional multiplayer, that sounds pretty good.

today: urgh, numbers pop out of enemies, that means looter shooter and gated progress based on loot/level and not skill.

Redfall was dead on arrival. Generic premise, always on functionality, no public matchmaking, coop looter shooter. That E3 reveal did not help anything either.
Redfall would have been cool a decade ago when L4D like games were rarer and it wouldn't have been so Woke styled.

It's available lol for 9.99 download

I still have it on original and it plays on 360
I mean the modern equivalent, where's a new Crimson Skies game?

I never understood why that game didn't get a sequel and why Xbox didn't utilize the FASA ips better, leaving other people to pick up the slack, that's a big missed opportunity for Xbox.

I will give credit though that it's easier to access older Xbox stuff on the current console than it is with Sony.

Same, Redfall really soured me on Xbox. They fucked up big time shadow dropping HFR.

Wasn't Deathloop a success? I think it's Arkane Austin that will be murdered soon.
Austin did Prey, right? It was good, but I can understand why it flopped, gamers see "diverse" characters pushed up front and check out, assuming the game is shit, which usually pays off, like Redfall.

When are they gonna learn gamers don't like that shit? It makes you miss the days when every character was a bad white space marine guy, because at least then devs cared more about the game than virtue signaling.

Yeah but if you're gonna go through the nigamarole of setting up emulators that require BIOS files and shit, you may as well just run them on a PC. If you are super strapped for cash and can afford a $300ish Series S but not a stationary PC, but you're also comfortable enough with setting all of that up, somehow, then yeah it's a deal.

From my PoV, it looks like more effort to get emulation up and running on Xbox than PC. Plus it costs a little bit of money for an Xbox developer's account, or you can try and find a free build of Retroarch uploaded by someone before Microsoft nukes it, which is a whole mess unto itself.

I haven't heard about a Switch emulator on Xbox yet, either. Nor PS3 or (ironically) Xbox 360. Maybe those exist, I dunno, but PS3 emulation works great on my desktop and was super easy to set up. Shit dogg if anything will make for the ultimate emulator machine, it'll be when a proper desktop SteamOS with Nvidia card support drops, so I can install that onto an old computer and treat it like a normal game system, with mid-game suspending and being able to control everything 100% with a game controller.

Pretty much any of us dedicated to video games enough to post on forums can just see a poster of a dark scene with a single villain and four roughly equal-looking characters, and we know it's gonna be some half-assed Left 4 Dead ripoff.

iirc Deathloop got a good amount of discussion, but mainly because it was the first full-fledged game to really get pushed as a next-gen title, considering it started as a PS5 exclusive and isn't available on PS4 or Xbox One. Even the shittiest shit can gain quite a bit of attention if it's released near the launch of a new console.
...granted, Deathloop was released nearly a year after the PS5, but it took so long for the PS5 to become readily available, and had so few games anyway, that the first couple of years worth of games have that "launch title" feel.

That's it. I knew Redfall reminded me of something else. It's literally Back 4 Blood again. Was anything excited for Redfall?

I think MS disabled emulation with the Series S.

Even the soys from no man's sky were able to salvage that dumpster fire but microshit cant be arsed to

You got to pay extra which sucks

Can it emulate switch tho? that way you get two consoles for the price of one
PS3 emulation works great on my desktop
What are your specs?

Crimson Skies is the biggest missed opportunity for Xbox, I know a modern game would probably be shit (Redfall) but it would have been cool to see an Xbox 360 sequel at least.

What went wrong there? Were the sales just not there for High Road to Revenge? I know it got a lot of critical acclaim, but I don't know the actual sales numbers.

Pivot and cope time bois. They better knock it out of the park, if not they are fucking ded.

I don't really know if GamingBolt sucks or what, but I was watching their video about Redfall but they said something that really stuck with me.

Halo Infinite completely falling on its face and now Redfall going down, Forza Horizon is the only thing carrying the Xbox brand at this point. Where is Fable? Where is Perfect Dark? Does Rare even know WTF Everwild is going to be at this point and even started work on it? Is State of Decay 3 ever going to be more than a CG trailer? What the fuck happened to Contraband?

They announced so much shit, and it's basically been dead silent just to push Starfield and this Redfall piece of shit so what does that say about everything else?

Perhaps they're committed to Game Pass to where it's easier to create filler over meaningful content. Of course, that Activision merger would've helped GP tremendously with value.

Subscription services need to learn that it's the content that drives sales.
