Xcom 2?

The console versions come out for those who can't run the game in a few weeks.

Bugged modding mechanics.

Playing a modded game with A Better Advent + Better Pods, Long War Aliens Pack, Evac All, and Additional Mission Types, and somewhere along the line these mods didn't play along real well, resulting in 0 enemies in missions involving VIPs (allied and hostile apparently).

What made things worse is that in this playthrough I have previously encountered a Rescue VIP from Rioting City mission and it played normally with enemies and all.

Sounds like theres trouble of having enemies Spawn in AFTER mission start, maybe its the pods thign?

It's probably better pods combined with LW aliens pack, as better pods is probably expecting normal Alien DBs to pull from.

In that case I'd go with LWAliens Pack, as all the variant aliens, especially the advent trooper types, add so much more dynamics to the game it's not even funny.

Evac All and ABA1&2 give each other shit fits, and ABA usually gets the short stick, resulting in not enemies spawning

Long War 2 finially gives me a reason for my autistically large character pool of fictional characters ranging from Hulk Hogan, to Gordon Freeman, to the SWAT 4 AI, to half the roster of Jagged Alliance 2 and more to actually exist. It may actually not be enough tbh.

As your soldiers fight alongside one another in battle, pairs will be flagged as 'compatible'. If you nurture this compatibility your squaddies can form bonds that come with battlefield effects. Superfriends can potentially fire simultaneously on targets. If one goes down to panic, the other can run over and remove that status effect (Jake also mentioned new types of panic, but we'll have to wait and see what those are).

I don't like the games being increasingly centred around original characters with storylines. XCOM 2 has a problem with most of the storyline being your NPC lieutenants talking to each other and leading the show while you and your generic soldiers follow their directions. Shen's Last Gift is a fucking annoying example of what I mean: It's ultimately about your chief engineer and her daddy issues, not XCOM or its goals. I like any features that enable me to rear my generic rookies into memorable characters but I don't give a fuck about personal feuds of poorly written Na'Vi lookalikes and edgy rebels. It's closer to a cheesy C&C campaign and not the tense, mysterious XCOM I like. It's as if Firaxis is deadset on limiting your influence on the narrative as much as possible.

The new expansion is great.

To say the least. This is a fantastic one, adding fucktons of content. I especially like the changes to missions and the way they added allies on Resistance missions.
