at least they didn't name the fucking studio Ass To MouthI'm surprised no one has jumped on the obvious joke that yiik and ackk are the noises you make when you're sick. Kind of a weird thing to name your game/company after.

That makes me think of someone's critique of Final Fantasy 12, in which, while you are playing Vaan, the protagonist, you aren't really the leader of the story, but someone who is merely along for the ride of it as the revolution that occurs in the game is going on.Developers intentionally picked the worst party member as the protagonist, all the other characters were made to be interesting and likeable individuals. It has the same mocking relationship to "bland" relatable vidya protagonists that soyfaces had with the original wojak, as a mocking caricature of the viewer.
that furry PS5 game exists too so yesCan a video game be a lolcow?![]()
I remember looking up YIIK while i was playing VA-11 Hall-A and even writing down the release date because I was enjoying vallhalla so much and of course they wouldn't shill for a game that was going to be shit. Glad I forgot about it and never spent my money on this pile of crapAnyone ever played VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action? It's a pretty good game that plays similarly to Papers Please and No Umbrellas Allowed. It came out way back in 2016 and had references to YIIK in anticipation of its release. The only reason I could see them doing that is because they had the same publisher and were convinced/forced to do it or the developers were friends or something. It's one thing for one game to shill another shitty game but to shill a shitty game that hadn't released yet? Never seen that before.
It's worth noting that these devs hired an obscure let's player to voice a character because they based it on him... who has anxiety so bad he basically never leaves his room. Who then commented about how he never wanted to play the role in an oneyplays comment section. Yiikes.

Lufia 2 and Chrono Trigger were 95Not quite fair. As confirmed by Wikipedia, the game takes place in 1999 (hence the "Y2K" title). If the characters are about 20 years old (born in 1979), then they were 12 when the SNES dropped, 16 when the PSX came out. Still young enough for games of that era to have been an important part of their youth.
See, this is the kind of backpedaling that I actually don't want to see. They've made a game where their main character is a flat out awful person than nobody likes. They should own that, because its something, perhaps even the only thing, that actually makes the game stand out. I was actually considering playing the game awhile back because I'd heard the protagonist was so unlikable and they went to some lengths to make him that way. It sounded interesting.(iirc there's now a mode that completely disables the protagonist's dialogue).
And those fuckers hasn't finished itMy only exposure to this game is from OneyPlays. They somehow managed to actually make it watchable, which is really impressive.
Rory looks like an anthropomorphic lion for no clear reason.
This game is also very diverse and inclusive.

God I hope it's just as pretentious, just look at screenshots they've posted from various different tweetsWait, there's going to be a patch? I'd love to see where this goes. Will it be the redemption arc a la No Man's Sky, or will it be an even bigger trainwreck than before?
