I always have one handy when i need to clean put the port of my phone. Tried it a few months ago when it started acting wonky. And tried again just now. Cleaned it and still doesn’t want to charge.

It may not make a difference as I know the lightning port is a little different, but I found for cleaning the USB-C port on my phone that a sewing needle worked best. It's the only thing I could find that was sufficiently thin that it could reach the back of the port and get all the lint that had been compressed by the charging cable.

Currently have an iPhone 12 with an absolutely SHOT battery. Like it maybe lasts 2-3 hours with actual brightness and no power-saving mode etc. Repair shop I went to said it might be worth it to just buy a new one or upgrade than try to repair it lmao
If I can give away/sell my AirPods (birthday gift so might just give it to family) then I might get an Android. I had the Samsung S9 a while back (I still do but it might be time to move up (especially since its carrier locked and can't be rooted)) and I absolutely loved the screen quality on it.
Unsure but may look into a Pixel or Samsung S line so I can root it, I really just want a good battery and camera (ironic lol but the stub's been scratched for months and I hate it)

Been using a Galaxy S20 FE, just hit its 4-year anniversary a couple weeks ago. I have replaced the battery this year and it still runs like brand new. Back then it was the best bang for the buck you can get without giving out to the Chinese phones that have questionable software and ads built into the system.

Could have gotten a second generation iPhone SE but I'm not really into Apple, and I've heard that thing has terrible battery life.

My previous phone was a Nexus 5, sadly it no longer boots. I do remember installing a custom ROM into it though.

finally splurged on Pixel. decided to get Pixel 7 Pro. downside is it has e-sim+sim rather than 2 physical sim cards.
previous - Nokia 7.2 I took 4 years ago. changed due to it being stuck on Android 11

Even if you don't want to do flagship things like heavy gaming it's still worth it to check out the used market. S20 FEs (one even mentioned a few posts above, actually) go for rather cheap nowadays and they're an excellent bang for the buck. If you want to fork a bit more, an S21 Ultra or Pixel 6 Pro will get you pretty damn far.

I do not recommend the chinkshit phones from that period since their software sucks. I've tried them myself and just wanted to immediately go back to One UI.
If you want to use Apple phones then go for the 12/13 mini or second generation SE - however keep in mind their battery life is suboptimal.

Has anyone found a legit way to run older apps on Android 14?

I did a bit of research and it seems Android 14 has a really fucking annoying line of code that prevents anything 32bit from being installed on it, which sucks since there's some good shit out there in the piracy scene that now my phone is like "lol nope!"

Which in itself is strange because i could have sworn I was able to install these things when i first got my phone, but a few software updates later, it just doesn't want to anymore.

My Z Flip 4 just got stolen at a concert a few weeks ago and I've renounced all newer smartphones because of it. Broke leeches will always target you. Back to using an old busted up iPhone 7 and I'll use it until it explodes.

I got into a Pixel 9 Pro from my Pixel 7 about 2 weeks ago.

It's better. Better screen, modem, SoC, battery more memory more RAM and more and better cameras.

Got a great trade in an essentially free Pixel Buds Pro 2 earbuds.

I just switched to Apple from Android after 10 years of Android usage after my Moto Razr 50 self-destructed after only 2 months. I wanted to go back to a slab phone as foldables are really really shit in terms of durability and manufacturer support (had nothing but problems with my Flip 3 and ended up going to court (Samsung settled)), and just about everything is Samsung shit now.
They used to be a good manufacturer, but after the note 10 series, just went to shit.
I'm not happy 100% with my 16 Pro, but it should last a good few years at least.
