I have good luck with 4kdownloader it can download entire playlists or channels. and you dictate the quality it saves as.
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
The ad blocks will not be consistent or consistent times.I know that when its implemented its going to offset the timestamps in sponsorblock for videos that already had them but that app is entirely community driven, people will just add the time skips to any new video where the ads are inserted and probably re-adjust the old ones when they see it failing.
Are we in the era of baked-in jumpscare ads?The ad blocks will not be consistent or consistent times.
The only practical way they can do this is to inject 'chunks' of ads in between the individual video segments/chunks, which are usually about 2 seconds or so long, from memory.Injecting adds directly into the video stream is computationally expensive last I heard. I'm guessing there was some breakthrough in encoding technologies or hardware that allows them to do this cheaply now. Things certainly look grim for users of youtube, glad I never grew dependent on watching content from there, seems like so many others have.
At least Musk's preferred QAnon ads would be fun.Dude, busky Musky fucking loves ads. His competitor would be even worse.
Use uBlock Origin, it is the standard adblocker that works.I no longer use adblock, it stopped working for me, instead I use a script installer thing that just doesn't allow ads to play at all. Sometimes long videos will pause partway because of it, but that's better than the endless bombardment of ads they force on you.
The obvious choices are either torrents or IPFS. Obviously the issue with torrents is that they're not so great for more dynamic content.Unfortunately, no I don’t have that one archived. Doesn’t look like it would be too hard to backup, only about 470 videos.
My only idea of sharing everything I have ATM is a torrent, if anyone is up for that.
I have about 8TB of YouTube on my PC (lots of older channels), I’ll have to get a list.
audio analysis will always work because COMMERCIALS ARE ALWAYS SO MUCH LOUDER THAN THE CONTENTThe ad blocks will not be consistent or consistent times.
I swear to god if I get fucking earraped by another crunchy loud audio ass wix ad I'm gonna fucking snap.audio analysis will always work because COMMERCIALS ARE ALWAYS SO MUCH LOUDER THAN THE CONTENT
Big if true, especially that part about sending workers into YouTube work to go and die before getting completely booted.Snip
There is no proof that YouTube is profitable. Every change that they make signals that the service costs more to run than it makes on its own. If Google didn't have an advertising monopoly on the platform, plus the ability to harvest and sell user data, then the site would have ceased to exist a decade ago. They literally hide YouTube's finances during every Alphabet/Google financial report.Youtube makes Google money. If it didn't, at the rate they burn cash, they would have been experiencing huge shakeups. You wouldn't be seeing injected ads, you'd be seeing heads on pikes and blood in the street.
Love getting ear raped by RBC ads at 11pm while I'm trying to listen to relaxing music, that will totally convince me to open a new credit card.I swear to god if I get fucking earraped by another crunchy loud audio ass wix ad I'm gonna fucking snap.
Worse... they watch it on internet explorer at the office.how many people actually use adblock?
isn't it just a tiny percentage because most youtube watchers are retarded normies watching from their phones?
I'll take all streaming services for negative 60 billion dollars market cap, Alex. There is no proof that YouTube is profitable. Every change that they make signals that the service costs more to run than it makes on its own. If Google didn't have an advertising monopoly on the platform, plus the ability to harvest and sell user data, then the site would have ceased to exist a decade ago. Their business decisions on the platform are also a signal that money isn't a factor at all for YouTube. They are estimated to be taking a $1 billion per year loss on their NFL deal every year. Meaning the purpose of the deal was more about beating competitors and mining data than actually directly making money from showing NFL content. How many companies can deliberately take $1 billion annual losses showing NFL games and not get congressional oversight committees investigating their finances?
Gentlemen.
It's 2024 and we are experiencing late stage YouTube. The economical situation of the United States and the world at large is forcing the largest companies to make sudden and drastic decisions to try and keep their income higher than their operating expenses, whereas in the past it seemed even the largest companies were happy to operate at a loss or with no profit for years. YouTube in particular had been terminally unprofitable for years, and it seems that pajeet CEOs are calling it: make some fucking money.
YouTube is experimenting with a Final Solution to the Adblocker problem, similar to Twitch, where they inject ads directly into the bitstreams that make up a video, so that an ad is technologically indistinguishable from the content you've requested.
I believe, therefore, that I should remind people that the only thing they truly have is whatever they personally own. In this context, I am referring to downloading copies of videos. I wrote a guide to this here:
For many of you, YouTube will be a place where you've saved videos for over a decade. It's time to save what you want off the platform before they start doing more dumb shit. Whatever you want to keep forever on YouTube should be downloaded as soon as possible.
Are there any lolcow channels I should be archiving?
2 mins of lofi girlLove getting ear raped by RBC ads at 11pm while I'm trying to listen to relaxing music, that will totally convince me to open a new credit card.
IIRC, sponsorblock doesn't detect them, users manually add the timestamps to it. They posted something on their twitter recently about how these new ads break their extension.sponsorblock can already detect sponsorships inside videos to skip if it's the same youtube ads it's trivial pajeets eternally behind the arms race lmao
