Youtube Institutes Monetization Changes - ....Really?

So earlier today, Youtube rolled out changes to its monetization setup:

Reading these, you can immediately see that they're ambiguous enough to allow widespread demonetization of virtually everything and then some. But a recent vid by Phillip DeFranco, and reports by several other YouTubers has revealed a pattern in the channels getting demonetized:

I'm hoping to Christ that this pattern isn't as insane as it seems at a glance, because fuck, man.

This is what Retsupurae have been saying forever. You cannot bank off living off YouTube forever. This isn't like running a blog. If you cannot parlay this into other ventures, YouTube will change things on you and you are fucked. How many users actually abuse the monetization anyway? A lot. YouTube is a short term investment to get into bigger and better things. But I can't wait to watch the salt mines pile up.

This. I'll even be honest, I'd rather watch Ad-Free content. Thank goodness for AdBlock.

4. The Autobots went on a fucking rampage.
FUCKIN AUTOBOTS MAN ENSLAVING US AN SHIT
WE WUZ KANGS MAN WE WUZ WARLORDZ AND SHIT.
ROBO NIGGA GLADIATOR PITS AND SHIT.
FUKIN CORNY ASS CORONATIONS STAND UP AN SHIT.

Jokes aside these automated TOS are BS because google themselves violates them by allowing top billing "content creators" to just so happen to be untouched by them every god damn time they pull shit like this.

There's been funny shit in the past where Youtube channels for companies that had copyright bots made for them got locked down shortly due to "copyright infringement" on their own shit. This is gonna be like that but on a grander scale. and since it doesn't seem to be affecting companies this time it's very suspicious.

AUTOMATION NEVER FUCKS UP RIGHT?!

right guys?
riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
Google's shitty automated "analytics" system has made it so certain barely active sites will never die no matter how much people try to kill them because as long as one person goes on that shit's staying up cause your ass is getting tracked to fund the server automatically through google with info rev. the results vary from hilarious to horrifying.

I'd laugh if this ends up biting Google in the ass, forcing them to pull all adverts because they themselves are breaking their own rules.

Well big Youtubers such a Phillip Defranco have already been affected by it. The people who aren't touched by it aren't those that are top content creators (that meaning popular/big money earners) but companies that probably have deals with Google like CNN, Music video channels, ect.

Also anyone trying to make money off YouTube is a total autist.
I disagree, at least in some cases. Like, at a certain level you gotta respect the hustle.

PewDiePie is a millionaire from making videos of himself playing vidya. Sure, the people who watch his channel are overwhelmingly children or adult autistic children. But I'm not gonna hate on somebody for taking advantage of that market and making easy $$$.

More on topic: I highly doubt this has any effect whatsoever on the large, well-known channels (think PewDiePie, Game Grumps, AVGN, H3H3, etc). I imagine they will use this as an excuse to pull ads from videos (and channels and perhaps types of channels) that enough companies specifically express having a problem with... which tbh I don't see happening too often.

Much ado about nothing if you ask me.

So, you are no longer allowed to...

1) Swear.
2) Have violence.
3) Talk about controversial opinions.
4) Must be as family friendly as possible.

Well, that eliminates about... 99% of YouTube. gj Google.

The amusing thing is basically every marketing study ever has confirmed that controversial ads are about a million times more effective than the family friendly approach. That ad with the women in a bikini eating a burger was one of the most successful ad campaigns for Hardees.

Such alternatives already exist. The problem is YouTube is just so big it has a monopoly. Even if people like PewDiePie and other big names in the industry made a site, most people wouldn't move over (the casual viewers, older viewers, kids, ect.). Youtube is the place and I don't see it being taken down anytime soon.

Just when one problem seems to be coming to an end (false copy right cases thanks to H3H3 and TBR tackling it legally), YouTube finds another way to fuck it up.

Exactly. This is the reason why YouTube gets away with so much shit. It just doesn't have any competition; not only is there no incentive to innovate, YouTube also isn't afraid of fucking over content creators because they know creators have nowhere else to go.

There really is no alternative to YouTube, and so it's been allowed to stagnate/actively deteriorate.
