I think there were some back when Yahtzee got started but with modern YouTube business model it's just not profitable. You need at least 10 minutes for commercials. It is better to either to full 2 hour YouTube essay, an hour abridged gameplay or a 30 minute Sseth esque meme video.
It does raise the question of how much Second Wind gets drom Yahtzee considering that factoid. ZP at least necessitated being on The Escapist.
Ideally FR should be used as the "loss leader" as they say in the biz, a less profitable or unprofitable item to get people in the door and hooked on higher-margin items, so the
idea would be come for FR, stay for the high-quality vidya-related entertainment. The problem is that nothing on SW is high-quality, even for YouTube standards.
If the length of FR really is too short to make money on YouTube, then there
should be other shows on Second Wind, preferably bumping out other shows. I don't think Yahtzee is even the person to do this, though.
Yahtzee Tries probably gets 40-50k views (adjusted for time) and Semi-Ramblomatic is probably their second best show in terms of views (usually making over 100k views within a few days). Semi-Ramblomatic (which is probably the Extra Punctuation counterpart) really has the
potential to be something closer to what the channel needs and a good way to funnel people in to the videos that really put it in the black but I suspect two reasons for this--the first is that Yahtzee as a personality kinda sucks...there's a lot of nostalgia for ZP and I get it, but he doesn't have the same charisma that powers a lot of the other channels, which is why FR still has most of the views of the show but also the fact that in almost every EP video I remember seeing, Yahtzee's takes (when expanded on) suck. They're basically the hybrid of pretentious gaming media-adjacent dork and low-IQ /v/ poster. Most of the time, they're so lukewarm that there isn't even a constant tire fire in the comments section. Even then, it's only 10 minutes total and that doesn't include intros, outros, sponsors, or begging.
I don't think there ever
be such a "money-maker" video because not only does Nick seem to be the type to disallow outsiders to his clique, but there might even be some rule--written or unwritten, that no one is allowed to outshine Yahtzee.
