I miss their chemistry, even if the leftoid virus was already present in their brains around 2015. I still remember Gabe calling Yahtz a fag and a fucking homo like it was nothing. It's still there for all to hear in one of their LDOs.
Yahtzee and Gabriel just playing something and shooting the shit was kinda nice.

He has been phoning it in for a while now, which is what a lot of posts ITT are about. I know James Rolfe has been brought up in this thread--he hasn't been consistent but has adapted better to modern YouTube, and overall a much better person in almost every metric...but one thing James has and Yahtzee doesn't is imitators. YouTube is full of people who wanted to become the next Doug or James and copied their formats pretty closely but no one seems to have really done what Yahtzee did with animation, even simple stuff (and it is very simple, there's almost no actual animation, just frames of copy-and-pasted stuff). Sure, there are people with little animated avatars that can change expressions but you'd think there'd be more not-ZP videos covering video games that use something similar and not just stock photos like a lot of YouTubers tend to do on a wide variety of subjects.
I think there were some back when Yahtzee got started but with modern YouTube business model it's just not profitable. You need at least 10 minutes for commercials. It is better to either to full 2 hour YouTube essay, an hour abridged gameplay or a 30 minute Sseth esque meme video.

It does raise the question of how much Second Wind gets drom Yahtzee considering that factoid. ZP at least necessitated being on The Escapist.

ZP necessitated The Escapist being. Look what became of them once he left.

Something Bossman would maybe enjoy. Better yet, this is after a fairly recent "redesign", which they conducted in order to bury ZP and all Yahtz-related posts, because they were still showing in the most relevant/popular tabs. Their slop also wasn't getting any comments or views, so they disabled both comments and view counters.

So was Yahtzee gradually losing his shit because he and Gabriel saw the same thing from two separate viewpoints, and he couldn't seem to acknowledge any perspective but his own as being right.

(Should start at 39:58, unsure why not).

Ideally FR should be used as the "loss leader" as they say in the biz, a less profitable or unprofitable item to get people in the door and hooked on higher-margin items, so the idea would be come for FR, stay for the high-quality vidya-related entertainment. The problem is that nothing on SW is high-quality, even for YouTube standards.

If the length of FR really is too short to make money on YouTube, then there should be other shows on Second Wind, preferably bumping out other shows. I don't think Yahtzee is even the person to do this, though.

Yahtzee Tries probably gets 40-50k views (adjusted for time) and Semi-Ramblomatic is probably their second best show in terms of views (usually making over 100k views within a few days). Semi-Ramblomatic (which is probably the Extra Punctuation counterpart) really has the potential to be something closer to what the channel needs and a good way to funnel people in to the videos that really put it in the black but I suspect two reasons for this--the first is that Yahtzee as a personality kinda sucks...there's a lot of nostalgia for ZP and I get it, but he doesn't have the same charisma that powers a lot of the other channels, which is why FR still has most of the views of the show but also the fact that in almost every EP video I remember seeing, Yahtzee's takes (when expanded on) suck. They're basically the hybrid of pretentious gaming media-adjacent dork and low-IQ /v/ poster. Most of the time, they're so lukewarm that there isn't even a constant tire fire in the comments section. Even then, it's only 10 minutes total and that doesn't include intros, outros, sponsors, or begging.

I don't think there ever be such a "money-maker" video because not only does Nick seem to be the type to disallow outsiders to his clique, but there might even be some rule--written or unwritten, that no one is allowed to outshine Yahtzee.

It's like a rule about not touching the sun, even if it did exist, not like it would make a difference. Plus with how ego obsessed those people are, they would go apeshit over such rule, especially the minorities/BPD women.

The great irony is that if Yahtzee wasn't lazy and made edited videos he wouldn't have been lazy to be payed 10% salary so someone else would be in charge.

Their dnd videos do well right?

It's pretty consistently some of their worst performing content that struggles to break 20k views. Meanwhile Fully Ramblomatic can generally do 10x that, and even a couple of their random shit can do 2-4x that in views without needing a half dozen people involved. Meanwhile if you compare their D&D shit to other series like Yahtzee Tries, Unpacked, and Design Delve

Yahtzee is the second-least repulsive looking in that group and he still looks like a coke addict. Please tell me his character is the big-breasted anthro tabby cat.

Is Yahtzee retarded? Game of the Year and your favorite game can be the same thing, but can easily be distinct entities as you can enjoy a game you think isn't a game that does something noteworthy.

To be fair, giving a game GOTY based on some arbitrary metric of "it's important and deserves it" instead of because you actually enjoyed it the most is always going to be a bit dangerous - especially since gaming is a primarily opinion-based hobby.
That line of thinking has got us crap like "Gone Home" slapped with the prize. After all, what could be more important than the emancipation of homosexuals everywhere?

The other problem is Yahtzee is heavily benefited by not having to really tell the truth due to his style of quick talking and short form, and he uses it to his benefit. I remember he tore apart STALKER and at the time that was my only frame of reference so I thought it was a shit game, but looking back at it a lot of people seem to have done lets plays and enjoyed it, so it was probably that his computer was shit and just like Dark Souls he took that as a universal problem instead of a personal one. He really is a game jurno in a lot of ways.

Sure, and when I say noteworthy I don't mean some arbitrary Depression Quest bullshit that no one has ever played. I mean a game that was widely popular and did something interesting, such as World of Warcraft when it first came out not only being the most played game but also spawned a ton of things around it and revolutionized the MMO genre. It's not always so clear, but usually there are a handful of games a year that perform very well and do things in a way that are noteworthy, but even then Game of the Year doesn't mean objectively the best game of the year because if you don't like the genre the game is in then you may very well not like the game at all.

His videos are much more entertaining when you stop taking him and his opinions seriously and just go in in expecting a lolcalf spergining out about the game being too hard for him or crying about right wing politicians. He might make a good joke here or there, but that shouldn't be expected unless you're watching one of his old videos where he still had a little bit of bite.
For example, his Kingdom Come(1) review was good for the most part, but at the end he has a rant about "PC Master Race", a meme he spawned himself btw, because he is a scrub who got filtered out by the limited save system of that game. Perfect example of him slowly becoming a glorified game journo over the years, if he reviewed Cuphead today he would cry about how hard the game is and give it a low rating.

His resentment of the PC Master Race meme just shows how out of touch he is. A more tactful way of addressing that would be some self-deprecating comment about "blimey, that was MY idea" or something along those lines, not just spiting his audience or hastily trying to retcon it as some sort of satire that the plebs could never understand.

I think he genuinely enjoyed Cuphead, though, even if it was uncharacteristic to other games he actually liked (I had the same experience with Balatro).

Plus "GOTY" assumes you played the game on release. My personal GOTY for 2017 was tied between Deus Ex and Hotline Miami despite the fact that the latter was released a few years prior and the former almost two decades prior. I'd have to go back years to find a game that was released that year and was my personal Game of the Year.

You can tell when his resentment is real since it had the same spiteful energy to it as his Hogwarts Legacy rant(which went on for over 2 minutes in a 5 minute review if I remember correctly). Like many lefties, they can dish it out but they can't take it themselves and the mask drops eventually. Even someone who was genuinely funny at one point like Yahtzee isn't immune to this.

Old man yells at flavor of the month
jfc... they're selling merch about the fucking algorithm now? It's like they're trying to do anything but actually address their own problems.

Complains about how long it took them to make the game, then compares silksong to duke nukem forever of all things. Bitches about the name of the fantasy land. Complains that the game doesn't hold your hand and assumes you played the first game(as if this is a problem?), and complains about the difficulty like the average game journo.
