4 is getting brownie point kissing up Niggerfication of a known IP.
No no no, you're mixing it up, that's not the one with the nigger, the one with the nigger is "the lost crown", the rogue is a seperate game. He's actually persian in this one, even has blue eyes.

Even the soundtrack is actually a persian setar (with synth accompanyment) instead of that worldstar hiphop garbage in crown:

This one is actually good, its made by the same guys who made dead cells and is basically dead cells 2 with better gameplay but less content set in the prince of persia universe (if such a thing even exists after the 500 timeline resets).

Confusingly its called "The rogue prince of persia" its a roguelike because duh fucking time loops/travel is like the one thing the prince is known for, honestly shocking nobody did it before now.

It actually deserves the spot on the list.

Wait, this is that black cat character from NitW? She had a huge psychotic break and dissociated from reality so bad she smashed a guy's face in, was forced into therapy, and became a recluse... because she wasn't immersed in a dating Sim anymore?

I don't even have the fucking words.

One of the OG "You're supposed to empathize with a useless unlikable dipshit" characters, I guess.

You'd think Pathologic 3 would be right in his wheelhouse, given that it's a series that's always pushed the limits of games-as-art and 3 is the most approachable of the lot, but he was still filtered to such an extent that he ended up playing a Marvel game instead.
Pretty sure if he did play it, he'd rant about the time and survival mechanics, also how Russia bad because "Muh Ukwaine guyz. Muh dun support dem Russian Nazis!! Muh gewd boi! Slava Ukraine!!"

The Quest is apparently very easy to sideload and the games are overpriced. No surprise Meta can’t make money with it. Seriously they sell the equivalent of mobile slop for like $30 and meanwhile I got HL Alyx for $18.
I haven't looked into piracy yet. I don't recall seeing torrents for meta apps, but I haven't looked hard.
I did install stuff that lets me install my own app so I guess I'm half setup.

Yahtzee reviews a Paper Mario clone:

EDIT: from the game's steam page, its about fighting capitalism:

What a fucking useless video. He doesn't touch any new games that can cause controversy like Kingdom Come Deliverance, but sticks to Resident Evil 6 like a fucking coward (especially stupid when RE6 is in no way in the worst sequels group) and just summarized his answer as "make a good game that builds on the previous".

Wow 20+ years as a gamer for such deep take.

He's never going to bring up KCD, but there's so many ways to go with it. You could talk about Hotline Miami 2 and how it functions as a "fuck you" to the original. You could talk about Batman: Arkham City at how it technically improves some aspects at the cost of the tightly designed atmospheric overworld (along with other games that improve things at the cost of not having a tight design). You could talk about SimCity 2000 and how it was an incredibly technological leap in graphics and features while maintaining full compatibility with the original game and code base. He doesn't even go into WHY We Love Katamari and Doom II are superior to the originals, even if they're better on a mechanical level. Donkey Kong Country 2 is better than DKC on a technical level but there's something about the original (like having Donkey Kong himself and not having to collect coins to save). Or he could've talked about numerous games whose sequels are only there to sell you the DLC for a second (or third) time.

I wonder why he has a deep hatred toward Resident Evil 6 so much. It was released almost 15 years ago, so it's not recency bias.

Jesus this is so close to an actually good premise it hurts. Imagine if it was about the fairytales being turned into modern slop by a media conglomerate. You don’t even need to be chudly to make it work. It would resonate hard enough that headcrabs would start spawning.

This is just a guess, but considering why it was so disliked at the time...
  • Zombie fatigue. Resident Evil wasn't just one of Capcom's milked franchises at the time, but there was an upturn in zombie games that invaded franchises that didn't have shit to do with zombies usually [Call of Duty being one of them] and the same went for media as a whole. World War Z would be coming out a year after RE6. Yahtzee probably doesn't have fond memories of that period one way or another.
  • Resident Evil wasn't exactly in the best condition at the time. Just before RE6, we had Operation Raccoon City, which sold itself on the 'you can be the bad guys' angle only to not live up to expectations. RE5 wasn't bad in itself but the audience who wanted more of what they liked of RE4 were left wanting. The other games at the time were railgun shooters and 3DS games.
  • I'm not going to try and justify whether RE6 was good or bad, but it definitely was not a popular hit, what with the low sales and criticisms of the changes it brought to the series. So it's probably in his head that those points are justified and therefore hating RE6 this much is justified.

Rule of thumb is that if you remembered a game 15 years later then it was either very good or very bad, and it definitely left an impression. Better than a lot of forgotten sequels, and it still sold quite well.

Like I said, it's just a "safe" pick that's so far back to not be involved in modern politics (except RE5 racism allegations). It also had a "redemption arc" with RE7, though one can argue that it might as well has been a new IP with the amount of changes involved.

What Yahtzee fails to recall about the Call of Duty franchise is that it was not the US government or the white man who destabilized the Middle East, but 50 Cent, in his 50 Cent Blood on the Sand Review.

Also, pretty wild to re-watch some of his really old stuff, because I'm pretty sure, "Maybe if the world was a little less prejudiced and a little more accepting then people might have see that we all have the potential to be so much more, and then we could all work together to build a better world for everyone! Not that they'd know anything about work, the lazy nig--" would no longer fly.
I think his very first "Zero Punctuation" video was about the demo of "Heavenly Sword" and even there, he started crying about muh poor oppressed niggers in Resident Evil 5(the demo was so short he dedicated a portion of the video talking about "the drama" so it would be longer than three minutes). Except he didn't really seem to care and said it was no big deal, then two years later he pretends to actually care when the game actually drops. Just like all liberals, this dude is a fake and tries to shield himself with his morality, only makes him look more unhinged and ignorant. Actually, you would be surprised how many of his old videos have him be genuinely racist(and therefore, actually funny for once), and yet he's still going to pretend he gives a flying fuck about muh oppressed browns in his 5 minute comedy reviews on youtube.
His knowledge of video game development is elementary, as in literal elementary school children have developed games of the same technological level as he did.
Again, not surprising when his only claim to fame was making an animation about how shitty The Darkness demo was. Dude got incredibly lucky and has been coasting off of that ever since.
