Jagged Alliance 3 announced - I guess this can be a general Jagged Alliance thread too

I don't know why you'd think that, Tropico has been mediocre as shit for years and I dont think any of the other games the devs worked on were good eithe

While I don't know much about either of those, I know neither compare to JA2 nor have I heard anyone praise them for being good at their own things.
Okay, game expert, we are all smitten by your reviews. I'm sure Yahtzee and IGN are gonna have competition now.

Yeah broo let's ahaha get excited for a new Jagged Alliance ahahah, I mean this franchise has a great track record! Ahaha remember great games like Jagged Alliance Flashback and hehehe Jagged Alliance Rage!?
Ye they sucked and so did JA Wildfire and yet people for some reason jack off to that game as much as JA2.

lol okay dude 👌

Man, ZOG reminds me why I hate gamers. Nobody can just be hopeful for a game to be fun or just ignore it, it's always gotta be held up to some impossible standard these days and shit on.

You're growing up. Gamers have always been faggots, you're just starting to realize it isn't that important and are just trying to have fun like a normal person, I'm guessing.

Back in Action getting a lot of shit for a game that did well enough to get an expansion/semi sequel

Game looks like it might be fun. Anyone expecting JA2 or its mods but in 3D is a fucking retard.

I mean, least BiA got some patches down the road along with mods to give it the feel of JA2. Nothing like that say for Flashback which was just a huge trainwreck.

Flashback was a crowdfunded game that completely changed direction during development though, right? I never played it but I swore I saw Kickstarter videos of hand drawn maps but then the final game review I saw it was all 3D?

Idk why retards trust crowdfunded licensed games at this point

The whole thing with Flashback was weird. Officially they said it was gonna be 3D, mostly showing some old merc's from JA and some combat, fans mostly hoped the devs would take all their desires and add the features they promise. The game comes out, missing half the features, buggy as fuck, and feeling like it was unfinished. So, the fans get pissed off and write angry reviews, devs respond saying "Hey, give us some positive response or we won't continue working on this game", fans say "fuck you" and the studio thus folds

Bro, it's the fourth time they're dragging out the corpse of a dead franchise, this time by yet another dev with a mediocre track record. Nobody is stopping you from being hyped for it except the doctor scheduled to remove your brain worms.

I had Jury Duty so I completely missed the THQNordic event and didn't think to look for this until now. I set it to skip to the gameplay.

Oddly enough, reminds me less of the new Xcom, it def has more from OG JA2 where you can switch between how accurate you wanna fire your weapon, weapon mods are still a thing and the world map does look rather big.

Yeah, the UI kind of reminds me of X-Com with how there is the outline where it shows you the boundary of where you can move I guess, but the actual combat looks far more similar to JA2, at least so far.

I'm not expecting JA2 1.13 like a lot of old school fans are (but I'd hate that as well, I'm in the minority where I think 1.13 is a buggy janky mess), but so far it's looking a lot better than other efforts. The fact there seems to be destructible environments is a big plus so far.

Honestly if they throw in at least some basic modding tools I think it could be good. I was even able to enjoy Back in Action on it's own after some mods for it rebalanced the game.

I doubt anyone cares, but they've started releasing DevDiaries, as well as a new trailer.

Oddly enough, I found this through a targeted advertisement on Facebook that literally had "Don't fuck it up!" as part of the marketing tagline. They're certainly saying all the right things, but I can't get much more than cautiously optimistic. I don't expect 1.13 like a lot of autists but it certainly sounds like it's going to be more than just an X Com clone.

Oh snap, Currie is involved?! Didn't even know that, certainly good news! Everything i've seen from the gameplay yet looks great but with all the blunders that came before it i can't, much like @Problematic User Forever, be anything more than cautiously optimistic.

By the looks of it and what I read it seems they do wanna avoid the Xcom trappings, they def wanna use some of the OG material from JA2 but make sure it also isn't super RNG like the old games were but also aren't BS like Xcom is.
