It is.. Both 1 and 2, and they do take a bit of an advantage with the better hardware; Faster load times and stability. Online might still be up too (IF you could find anyone), but if you wanna use voice chat you must use Xbox Parties, because the emulation of the 360 doesn't emulate voice chat.

I know this is kind of a grieving thread at this point. But I wanted to ask as someone who has never played, or seen footage, for a Saints Row game, which one should I start with?

3 since it got a good remaster last year, and is now 60 fps on the new consoles.

4's a good game, but very different from the others so it might color your perception of them. 1's only available on Xbox consoles, and is probably the "driest" of the series (from my experience anyway, I tried getting into it a few times but I didn't like it at all). 2's the most well rounded of the bunch and a huge improvement over 1, but some aspects of it have aged a bit.

If you start with 4, know that it's a different experience. If you start with 1, know that the series improves from there.

Not only can I not unsee it, the game designers can not even get the faces right. These women don’t really look too realistic to look like women. They don’t look like men, but in the gameplay trailer, they just don‘t seem to act feminine to me.

just like 1, 2, 3 and 4? gat out of hell literally shows that these "fun-focused" type of games don't go well with the SR fans since they like a mix of narrative AND gameplay, not just one or the other, i mean if you wanted to develop for nintendo you'd go for gameplay and if you wanted to develop for sony you'd go for narrative, microsoft players seem to like a mixture of both if you notice that sr1 is on xbox...

it's a short, activity-focused game that takes the main targets as gat and kinzie.
gat is a literally one-sided character and kinzie is kinzie, no hate for the VA's, they did a nice job. but the game is so short you could literally have a quickie with the missus/sir and it would take longer than the whole game, the final showdown with satan is laughable as fuck, just freeze him since i guess that being a creature from hell he has weakness to cold...
oh and collecting nodes around just like SR4.

The flying was the best part of the game. I don't even hold the game being a reskin against it. It wasn't sold at full price when it was brand new, which is a plus in my opinion.

• No music while driving in hell. You'd think the demon police would listen to some metal while running over lost souls or something
• Everything explodes for no reason.
• The Musical Numbers. And fucking love violent Musicals and Rent.
• Really short for an SR game. S3 being the shortest and SR2 being the longest.
• Mandatory Minigames, this nonsense started in 3. They should be optional not required to advance the story.
• Crap rewards for completing missions and minigames. I think this was a thing they copied from GTA.
• Was the set up for Agents of Mayhem, aka Saints Row 5. Like, they straight up made Agents of Mayhem part of the universe when they revealed that Johnny wished to be the good guys. But then a year later, the devs are like LOL NO IT'S NOT SAINTS ROW IT'S TOTALLY DIFFERENT...while releasing Johnny and Kinze DLC.

There are no missions. Well, three. But you have to do activities to "level up" to get to those missions. I hit a wall with a stronghold to where enemies would just overwhelm me. (You could argue I was underpowered, but still. Activities were mandatory.)
