No Time to Die 007 - Time to Go Broke

Two good, one OK (Quantum), one bad, and this

I unapologetically liked QoS as a companion movie to Casino Royale. I thought it was still gritty, had some heart and soul, and one of the best scenes in a bond movie - him taking Mathis' money and dumpstering him. THAT is the literary James Bond.

Goldeneye still holds up as one of the best Bond films of the series. Die Another Day is bad, but oddly enough it's still watchable. It's a "turn your brain off and relax" kind of film akin to some of Roger Moore films, with some moments of horrendous CGI to laugh at.
Let's not get crazy here. Goldeneye was a solid, fun movie and certainly Brosnan's best, but in no way would I say it's one of the best. It's behind all of Connery's, both of Dalton's, Live & Let Die, Spy Who Loved Me, Casino Royale and QoS in my opinion.

As for the new movie, if the summary is true then it will get what it deserves. The only thing that might save it is the fact that many Bond fans are fucking retards. They hated Dalton when he was one of the best Bonds. They also loved Skyfall, one of the most overrated movies of the entire series. So who knows, maybe they'll just love it.

I have no intention of seeing this, so judging Craig's run as Bond as a whole, I'd say....he peaked with the first one, and then it was kind of up and down from there.

Casino Royale was his best one. No question, and it was a nice change of pace from where the Brosnan films had ended up. It was also the movie where I liked Craig the most as Bond.

Quantum of Solice is the most forgettable piece of shit I've ever watched. Seriously, outside of the title, I remember nothing from this movie, and I've watched it three times. Say what you will about the lesser entries like Die Another Day or A View to a Kill, but at least those left an impression. I'll take something over nothing.

Skyfall was the 2nd best from his era with Javier Bardem stealing the show as the villain. It was overlly long, but at least it had a good villain to carry it through.

Spectre was a mixed bag. Parts of it I really liked but it also felt like kind of a drag. It was at this point that I felt Craig should have wrapped up as Bond.

Where does he rank among the Bonds? Its weird because I felt like he never really found his groove. Sean Connery will always be my favorite and just found his sweet spot with many of the franchise's best entries. He was the Alpha Male of the Bonds and he'll never be topped. Not all of his films were good, but Moore brought a boyish charm and charisma to the part that set him apart from Connery. Dalton I feel bad for because I actually loved him as Bond, but the two movies he was in were more middle of the road. I wish he got one more crack at it because I wanted him to have that great entry. And Brosnan...okay, if you described the James Bond character to me, for some reason Brosnan's image is the one that looks the most how I would picture Bond. I'm not sure why that is, but in any case, he was great in the role and Goldeneye is easily one of my favorites. Its just too bad that the rest of his films degenerated into pure action schlock with little redeeming qualities. I guess like Craig, he too peaked with his first entry.

I guess my biggest issue with Craig's movies is that how many new Bond fans did his movies create? I mean my dad got into Bond when he was a teenager and I got into Bond when Goldeneye came around when I was young. Are younger audiences going to watch Craig's Bond movies, get sucked in, and want to see more? Somehow I doubt it.

Quantum of Solace would be fantastic if it was not for its brain-damaged editor.
This is what I was going to say, what brought Quantum of Solace down was the "shaky cam" style of editing, remember that era? When actions movies were shot and edited to where you couldn't tell what was going on during the action? So glad we moved past that (one theory I heard was that was to skirt stricter MPAA guidelines on violence in the wake of Columbine)

Other than that I didn't hate Quantum of Solace, though I wouldn't describe it as great, I think everyone was disappointed by the fact that it wasn't nearly as good as Casino Royale.

I totally forgot that this abomination is coming out.

Really makes you think.
What is up with modern media and culture being absolutely obsessed with this idea that they need to kill the past? Like, we need to let go of anything "old and traditional" and totally focus on "moving on from those outdated ways"?
It's called iconoclasm. Straight out of the jacobin/commie handbook.

Imagine making a James Bond movie where you kill James Bond.

I'm not the world's biggest fan of Craig's Bond or anything but considering his run started in 2006, an era I have a lot of fondness for, this really feels like an awful contrast between 2006 and 2021, where did it all go so wrong these last 15 years?

It's also creepy as hell the message they're sending, "just accept your death white men, the world doesn't need you anymore"

So bizarre to be living through this for modern pop culture.

Why...is so few talking about this?

Apparently Bond dying isn't making people talk about this so much. What gives?
Because unlike you, most people learned not to consoom "deconstrutive film that shits on an old thing #1752745" and to just pirate it instead of giving money to the libs to own them.

I'd put that down to Dalton being Bond at the wrong time more than blaming it on the fans. A snarling, darker Bond was not the way to go in the 80's, even if it was fucking fantastic to our contemporary eyes.

I actually really liked it. Saw it in a midnight screening and going to see it again soon (my partner is a bond simp). I thought it was a good mixture of fun and kind of emotional? The acting really stands out. Villain is surprisingly kind of boring and feels more aesthetic than context but I didn't mind. I also liked Nomis character, she's tough without it being obnoxious. It has its issues, but in my opinion, is better than QOS, Skyfall and Spectre. I preferred it to Casino Royale but I don't think anyone else will haha.
Lots of references to On Her Majesty's Secret Service which I really liked and I actually thought the ending was a good book close for Craig.
