It's just the /774/ thread on /jp/ restreaming an event. The girls are the 3 members of Sugar Lyric. All established JPN Vtubers. All of them are fun dumb degens.

Not to be a stick-in-the-mud but she probably said this about her last group of friends, too. 'I have finally found people who understand me!' but the difference is that her and her fellow HoloEN members are on top of the world right now. They're all pretty equal. They cannot 'use' each other because they've all already made it. There's sadness in that fact too. I don't think they would be malicious if given the opportunity, either, by the way, but you can hopefully see why it's not a watertight statement.

Similarly — and I'm not sure if her recent song was referring to DemonDice — but none of them truly 'made it'. They were all chasing something bigger and only Karen caught it. It's sad and unfortunate they couldn't be happy for their friend. Jealousy is a bitch. But that doesn't mean they're bad people, either. And it certainly doesn't mean they were 'using' her because they were in it together until they weren't.

Spoiler: Calli, a Creative.

I've been thinking about Calli — or rather, Karen — since I first heard her new song. I realised even her more poppy songs have a tinge of deep-rooted sadness to them.

Being an artist is a lonely endeavour no matter what form it takes. One of the first things you're taught in University for writing novels are techniques to 'free your mind' and begin jotting down subconscious thoughts; and more often than not you'll end up writing uncomfortably personal thoughts and feelings that serve as the base for your concept. It's very weird, but very real.

You can tell by Calli's entire creative process that, even though I won't go so far as to say she is a 'troubled' person, I do think she finds inspiration in tapping into her wealth of sad memories and insecurities.

With that said, I don't think it's necessarily appropriate to say she's finally 'found friends' because our understanding of her life exists solely through music that is crafted specifically to focus on the sombre and negative. It's mostly just that IRyS and Council aren't as totally hopeless at communicating whilst streaming so it's easier for her to interact like a normal person.

I also went to uni. Creative writing and Lit degrees are a racket. You can be taught all these obtuse and meaningless techniques, but none of that actually gives you any talent or ability. In fact it can often narrow your thinking. If you have creativity and talent you can just write and see what happens. You can be an artist of any kind without also isolating yourself. Cali choosing shit friends and regreting it doesn't make her isolated. Her shit friends ostrasizing her doesn't make her isolated. She can choose to go outside and make new friends whenever she likes. She doesn't just have to be terminally online. She chooses to just be friends with other Vtubers who are inevitably going to ghost her when they graduate.

Watching her Minecraft stream right now of her looking around the rest of the EN server on her own, she triggered a trap Ame had built a while back, a chest that if you put things into it it will trigger TNT

Rushia didn't understand what happened and thought a creeper had come up behind her and she went into full panic mode thinking she had damaged the EN server and spent like 5 minutes frantically patching the hole while panicking before chat finally got it through to her that she hadn't done anything wrong and she'd just set off a trap.

She also seems to be having a good bit of fun with her chat and the "sugar mommy" nickname she got during the holodeath collab.

Does anyone else here often think about trying to be a vtuber

Vtubing is slowly becoming as normal as having a profile picture and you can become a png-tuber with no money investment at all. If you are doing letsplays for your enormous audience of 10+ people, maybe getting some kind of avatar is worth considering. If you want to be a popular entertainer and get lods of emone, having an animated avatar and talent is not enough, you also have to be goddamn lucky to get chosen by the algorithm gods. I think there is a lot of money to be made, but only for selected few individuals, while tens of thousands of people fade into obscurity, or just keep doing it for years because they enjoy it.

I don't necessarily disagree with your assessment of study — by nature they are very restrictive and not ideal for artistic freedom — but I wasn't suggesting Calli only makes sad music because it's a common symptom of learned techniques, only that it isn't uncommon for these kinds of themes to come about during the creative process.

I was just getting at the idea that it's a bit weird to interpret Calli talking to some workmates in Minecraft as a watershed moment in her life because her music is seen as her constant state of mind.
