Portal Bridge is an old, worn out bridge on the Amtrak Northwest Corridor notorious for delays, especially failure to close properly. It's a huge bottleneck in the NYC-NJ train route.

I'm not so sure about that, not with the qualifications he mentioned. There aren't a lot of very young republican office holders without a degree, nor do I honestly think the electorate would want such under almost all circumstances.

You forget most of those are transplants from the Midwest. Just remind them the schizo they avoided in HS moved to San Francisco and they'll get it.

The majority spazzing out in California aren't from there. People forget California has been a magnet for every psycho and schizo in the US and abroad for decades, to the point other states bused their homeless there, and California welcomed them. The problem is the state is catering to them at the expense of everyone else, which is unsustainable.

Orange County in SoCal in the 80s/90s was so conservative we were often warned the cops would arrest you from walking across the street at a red light at midnight with no traffic if you looked even a tiny bit punk. The cities in the North/South/East Bay in the SF Metro region were almost as conservative. Part of it is defense contractors left California and took their employees with them and increased immigration from Mexico/Central America replaced them. When the tech sector exploded in the 90s/2000s and became the dominant force the state aligned their interests with its own for survival but this current policy of letting the inmates from Napa State Hospital run California is going to convince a lot of them to leave, unless it steps back. But I don't think it will (barring a catastrophic, massive double earthquake that destroys both SF and LA).

I was wondering when Biden's failures would start a cascade effect and start bleeding into each other.

I'm more annoyed by anytime someone says something vaguely non-doomerish either you are accused of being a Q-tard or someone comes in to concoct some theory about how it will all secretly be subverted, usually with logic that shows a lack of grasp on how anything works. It gets rather repetitive and predictable, and almost never has any actual solid reasoning beyond "We are all doomed, the end is nigh!".

I was a little bit relieved when I talked to my best friend yesterday, and he said basically the same thing that I felt, which was basically that he woke up one morning and suddenly realized that he sided more with the Republicans now. That's how I felt 18-24 months ago; if you asked me 24 months ago I probably would have said I was center-left, now I'm firmly center-right. And I know there is a saying like "If You Are Not a Liberal at 20, You Have No Heart; If You Are Not a Conservative at 40 You Have No Brain." So that is part of it, but it really feels like the overton window shift is real for a lot of people.

I took this the wrong way. I've been smiling at the fact that Biden has more in common with George Bush and that every liberal voted for him.

It pains me to say this, but that falls within the phrase. People want power, people want influence, and people generally wanna fuck. These are overarching goals that are near-universal.

Children are easy to overpower, easy to influence... and with enough of both of the prior easy to obtain for the last. The perverse, disgusting nature of it has its own draws I'd expect to, the fact they can get away with it unlike the 'plebians' is another show of power and influence.
