One of the low-key funniest things about DSP constantly talking about Japanese culture is when he contrasts it with American culture, because it shows just how ignorant he is about his own country, never mind Japan.

He must be one of the only fulltime streamers and Internet content creators who has lived the life of a hermit. He's experienced so little of, well, anything.

Can anybody explain where legal fees would even come into this situation?

I've never experienced it myself, but the people I know who've been in similar situations with identity fraud/theft usually just deal with the bank itself and set up extra security measures to prevent it from happening again.
I had minor identity theft and fraud with my credit card. I called them, they froze my card, sent me a new one, took a couple weeks for the charges to be refunded to me. Similar to what others have said here.

Phil didn't even have any fraudulent charges or anything to refund. People just accessed his transaction history. I doubt he even needed a new account number, but even if he did, that's nothing. He probably just added extra passwords and security.

But Phil's story on the day he addressed his spending history was that somebody stole his account and people did "fucked up stuff" (also all the information given was wrong and had a "kernel of truth" in Phil's usual nonsense semantics contradicting himself). There isn't any way to disprove this, and of course if you try in his chat tomorrow, LIMB.

I want to really emphasize that there is not a single lawyer, outside of someone like personal injury lawyers, who work without a retainer, unless they work with low/no income clients. The idea that he would get a sudden and unexpected $1500 bill from a lawyer he hired is beyond stupid. That's on top of the fact that a fucking lawyer would have fuck-all to do with "identity theft" that didn't happen.

His lies aren't even believable anymore, especially with the bank information leaks.
Honestly no idea how they go about dealing with identity theft, but wouldn't someone at some point contact @Null ?
I don't believe anyone requested any information from that thread, or asked for it to be nuked. Surely if he got nothing this is likely just made up again.

Keemstar just responded to DSP on Twitter after DSP took shots at him on stream a few days ago

Tomorrow's prestream should be gold with this in combo with the totally real identity theft lawyer begging
:story:
"Oh god, here we go *SNORT* somebody is asking about Keemstar drama. Look, he's bringing up stuff that happened FIVE YEARS AGO. Tuhuh, it's just- I just think it's ridiculous that he wants to say these negative things about me, when all I said was 'I don't watch the dude', right?" Shakes head and leans in, "Oh okay here we go, some asshole troll is saying that I said Keemstar is a liar. I never said that dude, I said that he exaggerates, and he- what's the word I'm thinking of uhh uhh EMBELISHES, he just you know, hypes up issues, and drama, and all this sort of stuff for VIEWS. Okay? So listen, I've never had a problem with the guy, I've never talked with him, as far as I'm concerned he's just some dude I never watched or talked to and he's just bringing me up now to try and be relevant, talking about stuff from years ago, saying 'Oh Phil's a beggar and he hates me because I'm rich'. That's bullshit, I get crowdfunded by people, people who love my content, and are showing positivity supporting the stream. I have a loving family, in a great city, I mean why would I be jealous of KEEMSTAR?! Keemstar, really??! KEEMSTAR?! (clownmode here, maybe a fullscreen face) ACK ACK ACK. Tuhuh I mean seriously, who would want to be like, the most hated guy on the internet? It's just nonsense and he's just stirring drama on his way out, and I'm just an easy target" plays with mustache staring at chat "So, let's just leave the drama off the stream, and stop derailing. Okay, sound good? Fair enough? Ok. So Ladies and gentlemen I am what is called an independent content creator..."

Just imagine if Keemstar talked about how much money Phil made and spent on Doordash, gin, and WWE Champions. DSP would have banned half his wheelchairs for bringing it up then

Jesus Christ, no wonder Philliam is always so stressed, paranoid and irritable. I can't even imagine knowing that every time you take a day off you have a 25% chance of being hit with a random $1000+ unexpected expense that you had no control over.

Any of you pigs reading better step up and pahsitively khantribute to The King of Suffering the next time he tweets mid-stream.

So if anyone ever actually gets fucked by ID theft there is a pretty good gov site to help (https://www.identitytheft.gov/) it basically walks you though what you need to do step by step on how to recover your shit, bunch of good resources and its also free. This is all piggy should need.

ID theft lawyers do exist, but they are mostly there to help you put weight behind requests to close accounts, correct records with credit agencies, and any other bullshit done by the criminal in your name. ID theft lawyers are a great resource to get debt collectors to fuck off.

All that being said, these lawyers are only actually useful if, ya know... someone ACTUALLY stole his ID. Which they didn't. We all know he estimated hulk hogan would take about 1.2k in pulls, and gave himself a bonus 300 for coming up with such a good lie.

Don't worry, he's already working on it.

ooof..

just ooof... be a shame if keem doesn't let this go, we know PP won't, he'll respond or get SnowKarl baited, I mean he's getting what in his warped mind is clout and showing how he's still relevant and that's why keem is talking about him but also keem is irrelevant and no one cares about him. But yeah, be a damn shame if keem just wouldn't let this go.

Every situation would have a variation, but if someone in the US actually stole his identity, that would mean they used his social security number and name to open credit lines or get a new social security card or something like that. In other words, identity theft wouldn't be tied to his bank account unless the credit line that was opened was with the same bank and associated with his checking account or something.

It would be resolved by contacting the institutions that issued the credit and telling them it wasn't him. Realistically, it would probably be hard to track down the actual thief, but one way they do that is tracking purchases made with the credit lines. If someone was dumb enough to do it in person, the credit lender could see when and where it happened and check for security footage. For online orders, they could try and see where the ill-gotten goods were being shipped.

If your identity is stolen by someone outside the US, though? Good fucking luck. You're just going to be locking down your credit for a while by freezing it.

Edit: From the US Department of Justice:

With enough identifying information about an individual, a criminal can take over that individual's identity to conduct a wide range of crimes. For example:

  • False applications for loans and credit cards,
  • Fraudulent withdrawals from bank accounts,
  • Fraudulent use of telephone calling cards or online accounts, or
  • Obtaining other goods or privileges which the criminal might be denied if he were to use his real name
The only thing that Phil has even semi-alleged of these is fraudulent withdrawals when he implied that the person who initially called the BoA number had actually spent money from the account and was responsible for all the gacha spending.
