General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Just thought I'd mention that an audition for Wave 5 didn't come with Luxiem as I had anticipated (but not predicted) which invariably means that, unless they actually sneak-hired Wave 5 like they did with Obsydia, we're probably going to enter the slowdown phase.

I wouldn't expect them until May at the earliest. It's time to relax with what we have and how they develop.

Speaking of Wave 5 rrats. Here's some Pearin Xmas singing.

Just learned Vox hit 100k already, damn. That was like what, twice as fast as Nina who was egging people on to getting there while pandering to the mommy crowd? He's flexing all over those shitheads who whine about lack of male success among vtubers.

Speaking of which, backtracking through the thread apparently there was some idea he's supposed to be Connor. How in the hell did anyone come to that conclusion when one of them made me hype for his ASMR within 5 seconds him blessing my ears while the other sounds and even looks like a troglodyte?

I think the accusation was that Roa was using power harassment tactics to have leverage over Meiro before they started talking, and there was also talk of Roa's management threatening that she would graduate if Meiro didn't. For that, I can't remember who said it and when, so take it with a grain of salt.
...
But, yes, the only tangible accusation that remains valid is that Roa tried to make their discussion unequal by leading with how much more experienced she is at the job.
I think those statements were the ones that came from Narukami and Meiro's vague tweets around the time.

The 1.5 years powerplay thing, in my opinion, isn't really that unwarranted. Not even taking into account the Japanese obsession with seniority/hierarchy, leading that discussion with the length of time that character has been established is pretty relevant when you are talking about the possibility of someone copying your accent (and apparently, according to the second of the statements, not limited to just that). Look at standup and the stigma for stealing jokes. If I dropped one and a half years into creating a brand and some newbie pops in and I think they are being disingenuous in stealing my thunder and work; I'd make it known too. I mean, according to later leaks from crazed gachikoi, Meiro really didn't have that accent. . .
and she also made a porn-voiceover of Roa out of spite. . . that's normal.

"I've been streaming for 1 and half year now and I've been making sure to make Yuzuki Roa original as possible and unique
and it's almost something like my whole life, so I would like to have a proper talk..
and I never talked with you personally before so I might sound very rude when I just simply typed the word here, that is why i want to have a talk personally, also this is like my whole and it's really important thing" - apparent translation of that message.

But that is how it is already and we have seen that nobody but few holos gives a shit about collabing with Stars for whatever reasons.
And if Holostars EN become real branch i can see it turning the same way as JP counterpart. Mostly collabing with other vtubers than Holos.
Then its based on company culture. Again Niji from day 1 has focused on having the boys collabing or at least appearing in the voice chat of the other members. Im not sure if this was pushed by management or this came from the talents themselves but they dont seem to be restricting it. While i do get why Hololive does a 1 month ban (it usually leads to stronger talents) in this case it might be best to just integrate them from the get go. Going back to the company culture, if you think about it the EN girls rarely ever collab with each other. Maybe at most once every 2 weeks they have 1 collab.

so i have heard the word "backseating" used alot and had no idea what i meant so i looked it up. are streams really getting their paints in a twist that people try to tell them how to play? like nigga, you could just ignore them or just say no thank you. no need to make up a hole new word and term to shame people into being silent. maybe you should interact with your viewers more?

if only Spnooy cried backseating when he streamed fallout 2 and told people not to tell him how to play. im sure he would have not been mocked and ridiculed by those toxic gamers.
Often the problem with back seating is when the chat actually spoils or just tells you what to do in the same. For someone playing the game for the first time it might be really annoying to have to constantly see messages of what you have to do in a game. Its not hard to ignore either when one of their main appeals is reading chat and interacting with it.

Why is it that anyone who watches Gawr Gura is instantly a pedo?
Because for some reason a few people equate that liking a loli character means that you want to grab a child off the streets and fuck em. I would assume that a vast majority of the people saying that are mostly jealous that a cute anime girl is super successful meanwhile they have been streaming for 3 years and can only get 10 viewers.

You guys are overhyping him. he's just autistic nothing special.

But for real though, he's alright. The streams I was able to catch were decent (even the FNAF streams). But when he joined in the Lucky Dragon Host Club stream with Elira, Nina, and several others from Niji EN, that shit was amazing.
So far the only NijiEN talents I can watch doing solo streams is Selen and Enna. Even so they all are at their best when they do collabs. Hell they usually have one or two collabs a day.

Back when they were announced he said about 5 words and it really sounded like Connor. Then there was the fact that his first follow on Twitter was Calliope and then the first indie he followed was Ironmouse. Of course after everyone heard him talk for more than 2 seconds everyone realized it was not him.

Mysta will hit 100k soon too. It seems there was a huge void for Corpo male talents who spoke english.

They all seem really young, and not too bright. They sorta remind of Jessica Simpson back in the day saying dumb shit like “Is this chicken that I have, or is this fish? I know it's tuna, but it says chicken by the sea."

Vox is 21. I'm pretty sure Luca is actually 23. I think Mysta might be the oldest but Nina said that they're all basically the same age. I can't imagine any of them being older than 25.

I mean people like MilkyQueen have not hit 50k yet despite being fairly talented and a proper idol. She has been doing the youtube thing for about two years.
IMO, what's holding MilkyQueen's back is that she's sharing her channel with two other chuubas and that it's pretty much their idol group's channel with the content being varied streams by the members doing their own thing or collabs. What's sad is that streams/collabs with MilkyQueen are disproportionately getting more views compared to the streams of the other two members:

VODs with MilkyQueen routinely break 1k views but the VODs with either one of the other members rarely do. She'd probably be doing way better numbers if she has a solo channel, especially after her collabs with Calli with most of the Holo audience now being aware of her being an old friend of Karen's.

Lui released a cover, and the whole thing has stronger DD vibes than anything Mori released in the past year.
(Although the stuff she put out is still very good)
Even the video artwork looked eerily similar to Karen's that I actually had to check if she did the art for it (she didn't).

Civ V is the best Civ. You can't change my mind.
If time dilation is a thing in video games, then Civ V is a black hole. I once lost an entire weekend thinking I've only been playing for two hours on Civ V. Only time I ever felt horrified at the amount of time I lost immersed playing a game.
Uninstalled that shit real quick. Ain't nobody got time for that naked singularity shit.

I'm surprised there is confusion about Lui's cover. It's a Vocaloid song.
That also got a cover uploaded by Ado on the same day.
No confusion.
The original song is pretty close the Alcatraz album sound. What I've pointed out is that Lui, and not Calli (who did similar things before) sang this cover.

Kronii's still the highest growing member out of the council and it's only been 4~5 months, just shy of 600,000 subscribers. She should still be the first in the council to hit 1million around Sept~Oct of next year or 14 months after debut which is still impressive. I think people forget how strong the JP fandom is with HololiveX's debut being stronger overall in numbers both subscribers and donations. And Gura is and will always be an anomaly. If you look at the overall trend across the board, everything is slowing down with everything going back to normal but that's not always a bad thing. Some of us wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the pandemic.
I wasn't arguing that they were correct in their stunted growth assumption only clarifying what i believe they think did the alleged stunting

good to know for sure that its not the case tho

Connor has a rep for coomer bait voice acting and it sounded like a kind of voice he can and has pulled off based on the teaser plus the aforementioned twitter follows.

It all turned out to be bunk tho

Mumei decides to share her flawless logic.

Ah the classic mind over matter placebo effect
